    “Resort was nice, food was average or less, Most Staff didn't speak much English, Service was hit and miss”

    We had high hopes for this vacation as we purchased a rather expensive premium package with a water front premium suite and all the amenities. The resort is nice, expansive, well appointed. We had the Premium Level Master Ocean Front Suite, it is expansive and beautiful. The Suite has a large balcony with a small hot tub. The staff is friendly, helpful and try really hard to please. Most servers don’t speak English btw. We were very disappointed by the food quality. When we checked in we asked what they recommended and made reservations at the very best premium restaurants. First night was the Le Comedie the French restaurant. We started with Shrimp Salad, the shrimp were large but they were warm, soft and tasteless. Next we had the Lobster Bisque, it was like nothing I have ever had before. It in no way resembled Lobster Bisque, it was more like a cold Bean Soup, no fish flavor what’s so ever. My wife then had the Lamb Chops, and I had the Thermador. Her comment was the Lamb was like old boot and my Themador was like small pieces of Lobster served in a Velveeta Cheese Sause packed back in a lobster shell. Ok, we had a bad night, but that was supposed to be the best. Next we tried the Koyoto Japanese, we were seated with our 8 new friends from Russia, we had the Surf and turf it was Ok. Although the way they cooked it the beef and the prawns tasted similar. The next night we tried the Coral, the fish house. No real fish choices it was steak or Lobster. I avoided the Bisque and tried the Clam Chowder, it was horrific, like a white pea soup with a clam floating in the center. My wife had a Lobster tail that had to be the smallest I have ever seen, mine marginally larger and was so well done it was dried out. We tried the steak house, not sure why but I thought you can’t screw up French onion soup right, wrong, it was blah. My wife ordered a Filet, they brought her the Surf and Turf oh well, their English isn’t too good, I had the Rib Eye it was ok. How can you screw up a basic steak. Chez Gourmet offered the best meal we had on our last night, the Chateaubriand was perfectly cooked. The other restaurants were below average or at best OK. The Buffets were marginal at best, although the Caribe seemed to be the best of the bunch. Monday my wife enrolled in the daily Yoga then found out they didn’t have any instructors and were cancelling the program for the balance of the week. She raised her disappointment to the Manager and suddenly the classes were reinstated. Good for them. Service of our room was hit and miss. Some days I had creamer for the coffee, some none, some days I had cold beer, some not, some days chips other not. Some days 3 towels some days 5 towels. I left tips daily to no avail. Who knew. The Hot Tub was broken most of the week, power switch would stick on or off and the thing leaked water all over. I am sure we soaked the people on the floor below. After five calls to the Maintenance office then finally stopped the leak, but the power switch required a hammer. Stay away from the Beach Shopping Center, selling same items available in the hotel gift shop for 5 times the price. They call them Beach Sharks for a reason. It’s really too bad, the resort is beautiful, the people friendly and they do seem to try hard. The beach is great. We will keep looking for the perfect location, Barceló needs a chef or at the very least a taster that is aware of what the food should taste like. They offered us a deal to come back, we passed. Btw I really question what you get for the extra cost of the premium level. A different check in, lounge with sweets and wrist band. Beyond that nothing I could tell when I compared notes with other guests. Same restaurants, same booze, same pools, same, same. Save yourself the money.

    “Even Premium Level felt like a Factory Line, or the big Mall experience!”

    The place is way too big to make you feel like anyone cares about you as a guest. The beach was worthwhile as it is not crowded, but no service at the beach. The food facilities felt like a huge factory line - same mediocre food end service every day. The only worthwhile dinner was the one we purchased at the Wine Room, the 8lbs piglet, cooked to perfection. One of the nights the resort was hosting the Barcelo Owner's private party at the private room next to the Fish Restaurant. The General Manager made a complete fool of himself for two hours trying to provide white glove services to his boss, while treating the wait-staff horribly, yelling and screaming in front of hundreds of guests that were trying to enjoy their dinner in the main dining room.

    “Vacation”

    This was my husband's and myself 1st vacation in 12 years with out our 3 children. We booked for a week at the Barcelo bavaro premium level resorts in the Dominican Republic. The customer service we received from Liedy Laura at the Premium Level was absolutely amazing from our dinner reservations to the location of our suite. Thank you for a beautiful and relaxing week in Paradise. One happy Canadian.

    “First Class Resort & Staff”

    Just returned from 10 amazing days at this large Barcelo property. Taking the opportunity to enjoy the Premium Level with a great ocean front room and then having unlimited access to the many a la carte restaurants and P.D. Dye designed The Lakes course made this trip an excellent value. The Bavero beach is a centrally located area only 15 km from the airport so a quick transfer. We were welcomed from the moment we boarded the bus to the last hand shake from our porter Carlos by all the staff as well as having an evening one on one with the key Mgmt staff during the managers cocktail event. Their is a lot of pride shown by this Barcelo team. The quality of the food and premium beverage service exceeded our expectations although 10 days wasn't enough time to enjoy all the resort offers. We stayed in the 5000 block in a junior suite 5467 and the room was steps to the beach, and convenient to all the centrally located buffet and a la carte restaurants, pools and bars The resort has amazing shopping on site with everything you might need from clothing the souvenirs. The golf course is in excellent shape and a huge cut above typical resort golf with championship through beginner or senior tees. Their carts and Calloway equipment are in great shape and Jorge had everything ready from the moment he picked us up to the return drive after our game. The pro shop is well stocked with apparel, shoes and balls etc. so you can leave your gear at home or still enjoy a great round if you forgot something. Because each restaurant has a specialty, each deserves its own review because the 6 we tried were all excellent as is the service. A very special nod to the Santa Fe steak house staff who's lunch service staff was by far the best at the resort. Thank you for the smile and warm friendly team with the best hustle by the wait staff in the entire resort. Always had a water, refills on wine or cerveza and with a huge smile.

    Sono in luna di miele al Barcelo bavaro palace deluxe. Ho scelto il trattamento vip con camera vista mare, e tanti altri speciale che rendono il tutto speciale. Resort pulito, organizzato e con tanti ristoranti. Spiaggia attrezzata è molto bella. Non so che dire se non augurarvi di prenotare in fretta. Buon divertimento
