What is it that makes Barceló Maya Grand Resort such a great destination for adventure travelers?
The location is everything when it comes to adventure opportunity. On property it is possible to enjoy a variety of water adventure including snorkeling, scuba diving, jet skiing, kayaking and sailing. Just outside the resort is access to an eco-park area where you can hike through the jungle and explore hidden cenotes. You can also book a variety of day trips to explore the Mayan ruins in the area including the famous Tulum, Coba and Chichén Itzá. The Barceló Maya Grand Resort is the perfect base for adventure travelers.
What was your most unforgettable adventure while you stayed at Barceló Maya Grand Resort? Why did it stand out?
Our favorite adventure was a visit to the eco-park across the road from the resort. The park features five cenotes and an extensive underground river system. We spent an entire day hiking through the jungle, kayaking in cenotes and caves, swimming, snorkeling and exploring one the most unique aspects of the Yucatan Peninsula. It stands out to us because you can literally walk from the resort to the park, which makes it a very easy and accessible adventure and you’re able to maximize your time at the site versus spending so much time in a bus.
After your adventures, how did you relax and unwind during your stay?
We loved returning to our spacious room and private swim up pool to freshen up before making our way to one of the many pools for a visit to the swim up bar. While the size of the property might seem overwhelming at first, it was very easy for us to find less used pool areas where we could sit under one of the many jets or waterfalls and enjoy the sound of the swaying palm trees around the resort.
What was the best thing you ate while staying at Barceló Maya Grand Resort?
We had the most fun at the Tokyo restaurant that features a true hibachi-style dinner complete with on-table chefs. They cook your meal in front of you while performing tricks and creating an interactive dinner. It was also a great place to meet other travelers and talk travel since you’re seated at a table with eight other people.
What tips do you have for fellow adventurers who are planning a trip to Barceló Maya Grand Resort?
Don’t be afraid to get out and explore, both the entire property and the surrounding area. The Riviera Maya has so much to offer the adventure traveler and the natural beauty is the perfect playground. Above all, no matter how many adventures you have planned, be sure to make time to enjoy the amazing amenities that the resort offers.
