    “Quirky modern style hotel”

Stayed here with my husband for a week, we come to Correlejo quite frequently but on this occasion we were unlucky to have very wet, windy and cold weather for 5 days of our trip. The hotel is very minimalist and modern, it is situated in a great location for the shops, bars, beach and harbour areas. We were booked on a half board basis and stayed in a small suite. The hotel is like an apartment complex with rooms and suites situated round the pool and accessed by stairs if on the 1st floor. The restaurants and bars are below the reception area in a separate building. The suite was very modern, light and airy with a very small sitting area separate from the bedroom, it is equipped with a kettle, tea and coffee. It has no mini bar but a fridge to keep your own supplies in. The accommodation also has 2 flat screen wall mounted televisions. The rooms are painted white with orange accessories, good size bathroom with large walk in shower, no bath. The rooms also have a small glass fronted balcony with table and chairs and a pull out dry g rack. We found the breakfast to be of good quality, plenty of selection that is replenished frequently, eggs and bacon are freshly made. We had our evening meal three nights and the food was themed every night and was plentiful and a good variety, the only downside was the amount of very young children running around without parental control, this was a bit concerning as people were carrying hot food, soup coffee etc and the staff seemed not to notice. The pool area is delightful with plenty of sun loungers, although they were very close together. The pool snack bar was very nice, offering a selection of light meals and drinks to suit everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the bad weather. We were quite disappointed that the hotel did not have any form of heating in the rooms, the only concession to the cold was extra duvets in our room. I would definitely return during summer months, as I was impressed by the hotel and also the very friendly and professional staff.

“Sunseeking half term, underwhelming at Barcelo Corralejo Sands, Fuerteventura ”

Spent half term week here in mid Feb with wife and teenage daughter, hoping for a bit of sun and a relaxing week in Fuerteventura. A new location for us so chose all inclusive, more on this later. 40 mins from airport, location of hotel a bit underwhelming as were first impressions. Reception area was soulless, dull and not attractive to dwell in for any longer than necessary, so we didn’t.... Staff at reception were functional (we weren’t offered any drink on arrival so it didn’t feel like a warm welcome) and the check-in provided the minimum of info. Deposits required for the room safe and beach towels. We had a suite on the ground floor, although we had asked for a first floor room. No option to change at check-in. Room was comfy but dull, needs some colour/pictures on the walls. Housekeeping was effective and the ladies doing the rooms were friendly. Daughter had her own room although the bed felt cold and damp and was uncomfortable until we got a topper for the mattress. We had clean room towels every day, decent toiletries, excellent shower and constant hot water. Outside patio area was fine, handy for neighbour chats if you wanted. Major grumbles: There was a constant smell of fried food in most of the outside spaces, and on our patio, not pleasant and quite avoidable with decent extractors. Terribly poor value for All Inclusive eg lunch option is appalling, cheap and nasty. Drinks ok. Evening meals are average to poor, choice of desserts uninspiring, breakfast choice of fruit also poor. 1 Coffee machine broken for 2 mornings causing queues at the other. Do not under any circumstances do AI here, it is poor value for money. I wouldn’t even bother with half board if staying for more than a couple of days as there are plenty of places to eat in town. Most of the serving staff were pleasant but understaffed and getting drinks at dinner was harder than it should be. Amazingly, pool towels can only be renewed for free once a week, otherwise it is €2 each which I find poor in this standard of hotel. When I argued I got to renew for free but it felt like a massive favour and only after a battle, and a short discussion with the duty manager about the merits of Tripadvisor reviews..... Entertainment was utterly awful and the Eolo teatro was completely soulless, not a place to go for a pre or post dinner drink and relax, game of cards etc, and buried underground at the end of the hotel past the restaurant, so not a go-to place at all. Good points: Pool nice, and no competition for beds but it was chilly while we we there so can imagine it would be busy in the summer. Children’s separate play area is very very good indeed, artificial grass, good shallow pool and slides, fountain, excellent kids’ club, table tennis and pool table. Great if you have under 10s with you. Gym good but small, 3 people max really but kit well maintained. Location right in the middle of town and near the seafront. Not many decent places for a pre or post dinner drink on the Main Street but plenty of bars by the seafront, chilly in Feb but would be lovely in the summer. A couple of excellent seafood restaurants, not least La Marquesina. Overall, we felt slightly underwhelmed and overcharged for what is no more than a 3 star hotel. We wouldn’t go back - Corralejo itself was nice enough, but Playa Blanca in Lanzarote is at least 3 divisions superior. I don’t like leaving poor reviews, mostly as it means our hard-earned holiday was a let-down, but hopefully it helps others decide what they want to do.

“Fantastic hotel and a great holiday! ”

I travelled to Barcelo Corralejo Sands on a Jet2 holiday from 10-17 February 2018. I was a mum travelling alone with my 2 children aged 2 and 7. We had a fantastic, very relaxing and easy holiday from start to finish and I would highly recommend this hotel to others. Barcelo Corralejo Sands is a super hotel! We stayed in a suite on the first floor (Room 3201) had a large balcony at the front overlooking the main pool area and had a view to the kids pool area from our second bedroom at the rear of the suite. The whole hotel was spotlessly clean and bright. Fixtures and fittings were all in perfect order and were of high quality (Roca washbasin in our suite). The bed in the main bedroom was huge with crisp white cotton bedding. The room was cleaned and towels changed daily. We had a mini fridge, safe, toiletries, hairdryer and flat screen TVs in both bedrooms. We stayed half board. The restaurant for half board is buffet style with an excellent extensive choice for breakfast and dinner. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and seemed to be a very good team - going that extra mile. There is different entertainment each night including a kids mini disco hosted by Irena (who is lovely and a natural with children). All this is low key and you could easily go to the hotel and not be aware of the entertainment if you didn’t want to get involved. The kids pool is separate to the main pool. It has sun beds around it and only one entrance/exit to the area which made me feel more comfortable keeping track of my children. The children’s pool is graduated going from 0 to only 40cm in depth. There’s a ship water slide which all the children (age 5+) seemed to love and there’s a smaller whale water slide in the shallower part of the pool for the littlies. The hotel is a 5 min flat walk to Waikiki beach (great golden sandy beach for kids and all ages). The hotel is just off the main shopping road in Corralejo so everything was to hand. I’d love to go back!

    “Fantastic Hotel”

As Where not strangers in Fuerteventura, as where our travelling through gorgeous Island on a road trip on last leg, we finish of 7 nights is fantastic new hotel, fabulous location, fantastic staff. Self service as I have a disability now couldn't fault the waiters as the reserve a couple of the tables closer to buffet, the chefs had a different theme every evening like a cruise do, since we went full board is cheaper as we did research before we went!! Ended up being fantastic!! Here a few picture's
