    “Relaxing”

It's our last day today in Barcelo, we've been here for 2 weeks and it's been a very much needed relaxing holiday. With a few things to do here and there I recommend it for couples or children who want to relax, there's always children's entertainment but nothing much for adults who wish to party so I wouldn't recommend any party people to attend this location or hotel. It had a couple of negatives but nothing that ruined our stay. One thing I will say though is I cannot praise Angela on the reception enough, such a wonderful helpful lovely lovely lady!!! She's really helped us with any needs, and understands us perfectly, not only that it's almost like we've gained a friend that I am saddend to leave!!! She deserves a lot of praise and more!!!!

    “relax relax”

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at this hotel and found it a very nice hotel. We had room 4020 with a view over looking the pool and out to sea. It had a nice size bathroom with walk in shower, toilet, bidet and sink. the bed was very large and comfy with plenty of pillows and a TV which would show BBC news (channel 44). We did not have a balcony but we did have a very private terrace which was huge and was south facing so sunshine all day long. It had a two seater Rattan settee with cushions and two full size sun beds so no need to sunbathe around the pool if that's what you prefer. There were plenty of sun beds around the pool terrace so no need to reserve one at five in the morning!!.The hotel and grounds were kept very clean and also the bedrooms too with regular towel changes. All the staff were very friendly and helpful and looked happy doing their different jobs. The food choices were very good with a different theme for each night of the week for dinner but there were lots of fruit and salad to choose also. The beach just across a one way street was very wide and 7km, in length with lovely soft sand and when the tide goes out it must be 1/4ml with sand banks to walk along. You can hire bikes at the hotel for 5 euros for 2hrs, and cycle along the long sea front cycle path as we did or catch the service bus to Ayamonte for 1.4euros each and then the ferry to Portugal, 1.9 euros each way to Villa real de san Antonio. Christine the TUI rep was very helpful in drawing us a map of where to get off the bus and catch the ferry. The only downside the the hotel as others have said is the evening entertainment but there are other bars in the area. The majority of guest at this hotel are Spanish tourists and all were very friendly and it is fun communicating with them if your Spanish is not great. Thank you to the Barcelo Isla Canela hotel for a lovely holiday.

    “Week of relaxation”

We had been to this hotel on 3 previous occasions. Although there isn't a great deal to do in Isla Canela the hotel is lovely. Spotlessly clean great food and friendly helpful staff. Lovely place to relax and unwind. Bit confused by the new 'no flip flops' rule in the restaurant. If it's health and safety it's fine. If not, why?

    “A nice Hotel”

A hotel near the beach with good services. It is a little fat from a shopping center but it is a bus each 30 minutes. The touristic train is only in the evening in summer season. Some souvenir shops are situated near.

    “UNSPOiLT AREA”

We had booked this hotel at the last minute as our original choice had such bad review that we cancelled the booking Although this hotel or resort wasn't our first choice we were pleasantly surprised by first impressions This hotel is large but beautifully laid out with gardens and waterway leading down to the pools. The beach is just across the road and is vast and unspoilt. A very quiet location with about half a dozen or so restaurants overlooking the sea so not a place with a lively night time scene. Reception and lounge area is smart and contemporary. Our room which was on the fourth floor overlooked the gardens, pool and then the sea beyond. It was fairly large with a massive bed which was one of most comfortable I've ever slept in. Although fairly spacious the layout wasn't the most practical with the wardrobe rail fitted from back to front rather than side to side. Getting clothes was sometimes a challenge as you couldn't see them properly and one hanger would get caught on another. The mirror wasn't over the dressing table and the hairdryer in the way of the shower and the toilet. No storage in the shower to put your own shower gel, shampoo etc. Plenty of room though and dressing gowns and slippers were a really useful addition as were beach towels. Our room had a kettle for tea and coffee making Room was kept extremely clean and always a pleasure to come back to. The bar was modern but seemed to be understaffed at various times. We were all inclusive because of the original holiday we'd booked. I was a bit apprehensive as reading other reviews thought that cocktails and drinks choice might be really limited and service inferior. Luckily there was a selection of about half a dozen cocktails to choose from. The list was at times confusing though as it appeared that a certain cocktail was included but on ordering at the bar was told it wasn't available. Not all drinks lists showed the same drinks available for all inclusive. Well known liqueurs were available at half price but I tried some of the local ones and was happy. We found service for all inclusive to be no different to anyone else. The restaurant is big and very busy with tables very close together. Having said that service was always prompt and a wine order taken almost straight away. Staff were all friendly and polite. Food was varied and sometimes a bit hit and miss. We always found something good though. The stews and ragouts were delicious and I tried quite a few of the local dishes. I wouldn't do all inclusive again because I would rather eat in local restaurants but there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food or wine The snackbar was useful if you wanted to stay near the pool at lunchtime The inexpensive menu was half price for All inclusive guests and some items were included. It's strange because all inclusive should mean exactly that! We enjoyed the evening entertainment, flamenco, magician and a couple of groups. The animation team were pleasant but I think guests just wanted to be left alone. The World Cup had started so we could watch on a big screen in the bar area The area itself is fairly remote but if you were having Bed and Breakfast I think you could find enough local restaurants. The nearest town of Ayamonte is well worth a visit. It has a lovely harbour, good tapas bars and some lovely jewellery and shoe/handbag shops. Enough to satisfy a seasoned shopper! The bus stops almost outside the hotel but beware the service back stops between 3 and 5 p.m. We shared a taxi back to the hotel The pool area was lovely. Sunbeds and parasols were always available no matter what time of day and it was quite peaceful. I would say that it isn't the place for a lively holiday but wonderful for relaxation One criticism - we went to reception the evening before check out and the receptionist was answering incoming calls after we had started to talk to her, leaving us to wait until she had finished the calls. Whether a colleague was having a break I don't know but eventually we walked away. On the whole though I would definitely recommend this hotel who anyone who wants to get away from it all in a smart, comfortable hotel and not have too long a flight

Dear Kat, We are delighted to know that, according to your words, we got to cumply your quality and service expectations and you went home with great memories of your vacation with us. At Barceló Isla Canela we understand that food and drinks are important aspects of our guests’ overall experience, this is why our chefs have created a varied assortment of options to please every type of palate. Reading that you were satisfied with the quality but at times a little bit disappointed with the variety in all inclusive, makes us feel that we are doing a good job but with possibilities to do even better, and therefore we will revise why during your stay we didn´t seem to achieve our goal to offer a wide choice in each and every meal. Again we thank you for this very kind review of our hotel and we look forward to serving you again in the future. Yours respectfully, Carmen Fal Guest Experience Manager
