    “Dream vacation”

    We took a vacation July 15 - July 21, 2017 and had the time our lives!!! We were originally booked at another resort and decided to switch to the Occidental and then also upgraded to the Royal Level. It was fabulous!!! The room was very big, nice and cool, the grounds were immaculate and a short easy walk to the beach and other pools. The staff were all very friendly from the maids to the bar tenders to the maintenance workers. We had trouble with our safe in the room and never had to wait more than a few minutes for maintenance to come to the room and work on it. Unfortunately it took 3 times of trying to fix it before they finally replaced it, but again, we never had to wait more than a few minutes for them to come to our room. The maids did an excellent job of cleaning and leaving fresh towels for us each morning. The wildlife was incredible to see each day - iguanas, birds, lizards, the little racoon things, turtles, etc...........so fun to see!! The pool water in each pool was clean and refreshing - the ocean water was just so beautiful!!! IF I were to say anything negative about the resort would be the food. The restaurants that we made reservations at had very good food, and the breakfast buffet was pretty good as well. However, the lunch buffet by the beach had a little to be desired........it wasn't terrible and you could probably find something there and you would not starve, but it wasn't great. However, we did eat lunch and/snacked while it was open and it satisfied our hunger. I would suggest maybe reviewing the quality of food and maybe making some improvements. Hamburgers were grilled outside during the day and smelled wonderful, but understand that the hamburger is NOT the same as it is in America - different texture and a little different taste. Just something to get used to is all. My husband and I had a wonderful time in your resort - the most relaxing vacation ever actually. We definitely will be back!!! Terry Maddux Wichita, KS

    “Occidental Grand Cozumel seems tired”

    We spent a week with the family in June 2017. Sinice it's billed as a grand level resort, with Royal Level rooms, I expected a lot more. We were greeted and brought to the Royal level area to check in. It was a small room with a carafe of water and 2 bottles of champaign we would have had to crack open if we wanted any. We weren't told about the Grand level restaurant when we asked about making dinner reservations. We also weren't told where the First Club is. The Grand Level private pool was nice and quiet until the day we left, when an obnoxious family decided to monopolize the area, toss a football like they were in a kids pool, and start drinking and yelling at 8:30 am. I'm always surprised when the management doesn't take care of problem guests who ruin the atmosphere for everyone else. The adult pool wad nice. The Huge Iguanas that Hang out there will jump onto your lounge chair with you in it if you dare open anything to eat. I love to swe the animals, but I'm pretty sure that's how my husband got salmonella. Iguanas on the deck of the pool, drinks on the deck also.... The rooms were comfortable bit the design of the buildings mean you can hear everyone in the halls. It's circular building with all the rooms facing inward. Again, I expect a more restful environment for grand level rooms. The food was average with not many choices, especially at lunch time. Always plenty of chairs at the beach. Only problem was sometimes finding one in the shade. But I was usually able to. Snorkeling off the beach wasn't very good. Not many fish, and 1 territorial barracuda. So far, this was our least favorite resort of the occidental/Barcelo resorts.

    We stayed at grand occidental royal level, Margarita and Maria 2 marvelous people , great service and attention to my wife and I, my wife had to spent a night at the hospital do to a diving accident and they took care of us like if we were part of their family Thanks Margarita and Maria at the Royal Level We love you Maryse and Pierre Xxx

    “fabulous service!”

    The staff in the Royal club were amazing!! and Justino Cordosa treated us like royalty!! Be sure to upgrade as it is worth it for the restaurant and service alone! There are three pools all great depending on what you are looking for!

    “Lovely Holiday”

    Worth every penny upgrading to royal level the la carreta restaurant is worth it alone . tour food is cooked fresh for you from breakfast to dinner nothing is too much trouble for them. Big thank you to Carlos and Tomas and all the staff in the la carreta. A tip is book your breakfast in one go other wise it take ages lol. You can have room service if you can't get booked in which is lovely you can order drinks as well coffees bottle wine . And wifi works in your room and in la carreta and around adult pool. This restaurant is only for guest in the royal level we went there every other night . For people like me who enjoys a cuppa i would take a travel kettle as the coffee machine don't make a good cuppa as i think water needs to be hotter for tea .the coffee is nice and you get as much as you want .but if you like tea you need to drink milk and a mug i hate silly little cups. A big thank you to gabriela and pamela front desk ,I had a couple problems which i was unhappy about and they sorted for me and was very happy . I think half of when you have a problem is getting it sorted not there fault but did every thing to sort plus extras big thank you. Icant say anything about sea food restaurant as never went ,the mexican was great we did that every other night . Only went to the los olives one at lunch time and beach one . Never went to entertainment so can't comment I am a bit boring . I take my i pad and watch my netflix's as it works out there if you from england . Drinks are good if you are a drinker as they are premium brands i had a few melon sours and tried the cocktail of the day . Not impressed with the beach as we came over by ferry and the beach on punta cana was turquoise blue and our water was murky brown . Think to do with bad weather as my daughter went last year and said was lovely hence me going .
