    “Relax in Paradise”

    Occidental Nuevo is well worth a visit. The setting, staff and food are outstanding. The location is the perfect distance from town and the airport. You will be very satisfied if you make this your travel destination.

    “NOT A BARCELÓ!!”

    We reserved at the Royal Level, which supposed to be a premium level, with personalized check-in, better room, etc. FRONT DESK: It took us 1.5 hours to do our check in (and we had our 1 year old child with us), the ineptitude from the front desk lady is something I have never seen before. There were 2 customers before us; it took her ½ hour per customer and another ½ hour with us. After the ½ hour, we had to go back because the cards to open the door she gave us were not properly programmed and the internet codes she gave us were expired. THE HOTEL: The generators of the AC for the restaurant were turn-on the entire night (forget about listening the ocean.) The rooms besides being extremely small compared to any other Barceló I have stayed. The rooms do not have balcony or terrace!!!!! The GOOD: The hotel is very clean, gardens and pools are very well maintained, and the food and attention in all the restaurants is awesome.

    “Very disappointing ”

    Currently staying at hotel now... Checked into room: discovered it was not leaned since last guest checking out (bare mattress, pile of pillows on floor, 1/2-eaten bowl of soup on table, cans of beer in bathroom sink)! Resort manager was embarrassed, & was willing to make amend& gave a different room: beds are made, only 1 functional light in room entrance hallway (& none others!), bathroom was not mopped since last guest visit (stinking urine stain around toilet!)... Very much less than passable grade! Would have chosen negative scale if given the choice!

    “WONDERFUL TIME!”

    The Occidental Nuevo Vallarta resort is ideal for anyone wanting close access to the beach, pool and restaurants. The service by the entire staff was outstanding. It is truly amazing Costco has a partnership with Occidental Nuevo Vallarta because the Royal Status service is top of the line. I cannot express how pleasant our stay was. Additionally, it was so nice to deal with the Royal Lounge personnel. Having access to this level of service to check-in, book restaurant reservations and check out process was fantastic. We feel like the waiter on the beach, Gonzalo catered to all of our requests and kept us happy with our drinks. We are extremely happy with Costco Travel and will be definitely booking future vacations through the site. Simple, fast and awesome value! CON: If you are looking for a resort that has a club feel/bar with great music in the evening, this is not the place. Their lounge includes classical music, live violin and saxophone player. The DJ only plays music by the pool during the day.

    “Not what’s advertised ”

    We are here right now . There are no balconies at all so very small rooms with windows that do not open. There is construction work undergoing . We complained and were moved to a suite with a balcony but we still did not get what sunwing advertises as a royal level guest . Nobody gets tequila or a welcome petit four tray and as for turn down it’s non existent. The staff are lovely can’t complain about them but seriously I would never return here . Every other hotel along the beach has balconies ! And yes there’s construction work no matter what barcello tell you .
