    “Hotel from Hell”

    This was the worst ever place I have stayed. It was broken down Fawlty Towers! The first room we were put in stunk of damp, the shower curtain hanging off, no bathroom light, no tv and the just one incredibly flat pillow with dirty walls. Musn't forget the filthy lift my husband got stuck in. The 2nd room bathroom light didn't work, no plugs in the sink or bath, the shower waterboarded you and went all over the bathroom. There was a paint blistered door in the wall which opened easily and was a big hole with wires in it - thank goodness we had no children with us. The air con stuck on freezing and we had to sleep under old rough blankets because it was so cold, as soon as w ewoke up, we had to open the verandah door to let heat in. We ordered a double room and got 2 beds of different heights pushed together so my husband and I had to sleep part or squeeze into 1 bed. The doorframe had part of it missing and hung away from the wall. One cheap plastic chair on the verandah so we couldn't sit outside together. Only 2 Canadian (English speaking) channels on the tv but in the 2nd week, there was only one as a message came on screen to say one of the channels was subscription so they didn't appear to have paid the subscription. There was a mini fridge but we only go one bottle of water when we first arrived - nothing in the fridge. My husbands legs were a mess from insect bites and I was also covered in them and I have never been bit on holiday before. We had more bites when we woke up each day so they were obviously in the room. Only had 2 smallish towels. The verandah doors had no locks on them or if they did, they didn't work One scruffy bar open called El Mojito in the corner of the lobby but you couldn't get a cocktail, they ran out of beer several times plus wine, soft drinks and didn't have vodka. It was full of lies and so hot as the only 2 fans were over the bar. Floor tiles were missing - the other promised bars didn't exist. Mustn't forget the broken chairs. No internet except by the reception desk and you had to buy an internet card but the hotel didn't sell them, you had to go to another hotel to buy it There was only the buffet restaurant open - the other restaurants were closed, the food was diabolical with no variety, same food was offered breakfast, lunch and dinner including sprouts and was usually lukewarm and heaven help you if a dish ran out as you had to wait over 15 mins for the kitchen staff to replace it. There was no variety in the food especially dessert as it comprised of sheet cake covered in sugary soft frosting, 3 fruit slices dried as left out too long and ice cream if you were lucky as it frequently ran out. Doesn't help you if you're diabetic as you tended to have no dessert. The restaurant ran out of win and soft drinks, the wine was bitter and unpalatable and the service left a lot to be desired. only one pool in use, the other had no water and the pool surrounding was rough concrete that not only hurt your foot but collected debris which ended up in the pool. Hardly any parasols Evening entertainment didn't start until 21.45 at the other end of the complex to the bar Refreshment shop only sold booze and biscuits and very expensive cans of pop Most staff spoke some English but we struggled at times to make ourselves understood I started with diarrahoea 10 days into the holiday that was diagnosed as infectious enteritis when I got home and ended up in A&E as my GP sent me. I cried the 2nd week and wanted to come home. We had stayed in Cuba before but in Holguin which was a fabulous hotel so there are a lot of great places but unfortunately not this one

    “Worst hotel ever!!”

    After two weeks of Cuba we knew the standards a bit and we understand that the people have to deal with what is supplied. But this place is so bad! Short summary: stinkin room(dead animals?), Cold and very nasty food, wattery drinks, noisy pool, lazy crew. We stayed only one Day, slept 2 hours because of the nois and smell and then escaped.

    “Allegro Palma Real Worse Hotel In Varadero”

    First of all I just want to make sure people understand that I'm not a complainer, I've in Cuba 4 Times and I Can say that I Love this country, my first 3 trips there were amazing with family and friends one time was for my brother's wedding in Cayo Coco it was amazing. However this time we went to Varadero with my Husband.. worse service ever, people were really rude I got yelled because I was for a glass of water to one of the waiter but because I was not setting on his side que told me to go ask somebody else. The room was disgusting very dirty, my Towell my " new towell" has some spot of dry blood, it took 4 days for them to give me a new one event tho I kept on going to the lobby to ask for a new one .. so had to use a small one for 4 days until I got frustrated the cleaning lady gave me one. At the restaurant the food had (animal hair) the smell of garbage every where on the restaurant, The bar at the lobby had only two drinks Beer and one drink mix of orange juice and Rum, nothing else for 7 days I can't believe you're in a all inclusive and they don't have Pina colada or mojito at least! The restaurant that the have a the beach they tell you that you have to wait because they don't know if there's good coming for the day or not .. and when they have it's like a dry chicken old from I don't know how many days ... Same for the drinks same two drinks for 7 days .. you want a Pina colada there's a guys selling them at the beach. If you have any problems at the reception they tell you they can't do anything for you and if your internet doesn't work it's not their problem it's your Phone that doesn't work .. so you lost one hours trying to get to the wifi and you need to buy a new one because they won't do anything to help you with that. The pool didn't have any treatment for 7 days so instead do being blue it was green water .. we only found out the last day. My husband and I had to go out every night to eat at the local restaurant which are really good :) The Beatles Bar it's amazing too :) All this to say please don't go to this place I can't believe that Air Transat and Air Canada sent people there such a shameful place.

    “Decent hotel, lacking some entertainment”

    It's a great hotel. However ever since our last visit, a lot has changed. I was there in October of 2018 and it was great. Entertainment was also great where we had the option to go to the club at night. Now that same club is closed. There is zero entertainment left for the night time. Speaking with many returning customers at the resort and they all had the same expression. The younger crowd needs something to do at night and not just hang out at the lobby... Management needs to look into this matter and find a solution. Especially for the younger, returning customers who would like some entertainment at night. This resort depends on returning customers, if they stop returning then it's bad for business.

    “Nice staff, but the hotel is awful.”

    This is easily my worst holiday experience. The hotel needs investment - plenty of it. Our first room was so bad my wife cried. We had to spend one night in it with noTV. We'd booked a double room and didn't get it - apparently they only have two such rooms. The air conditioning could not be altered and we shivered at night. The food lacked flavour and was over-cooked. The 'Mojito' bar didn't serve the drink! The staff were really good though and the service in the restaurant could not be faulted. We had 2 excellent waitresses so they can be exempted from this review! 12 years ago we went to Southern Cuba and had a great time, so we were completely taken by surprise. The hotel even ran out of beer - twice. Soft drinks in the restaurant only lasted for about one day per week. Bars that should have been open began to close, even the one by the remaining pool (they had two, but only one had water in it). I'm glad I went to old Havana though.... I wanted to have a good time but it was just impossible.
