    “Disappointing...won’t be returning ”

    Have just returned from a week at this hotel.We booked this based on reviews from a few months ago ,and unfortunately it seems that the hotel has since deteriorated. On arrival we were met by a temporary reception desk manned by only two people. It took a while to be checked in and nothing about the hotel was explained other than where our room was. Room-was clean and tidy and looked quite new.However,our shower stunk of sewage and didn’t drain properly,and due to the design being a flat shower tray flush to the floor-this meant it overflowed every day on to the bathroom floor quite substantially.We reported this on the first night,maintenance came,tried to clear but it didn’t really work for more than one night,just seemed to push the issue further down the system. We reported this to two different reps from Tui and the reception team a further 5 times in total-as well as reporting we had a floor board sticking up right outside the said slippery bathroom,and despite being told it would be sorted it wasn’t at all,nobody even came back. Food-awful....plain...tasteless and average standard.Being gluten intolerant I checked the hotel before we booked and it said it catered for such,but unfortunately they only did so at breakfast where packet gluten free bought items were available.At lunch and dinner ,despite asking ,I was given what was meant to be an allergen menu that should correspond to what was on offer,but it never did and the chefs/waiting staff didn’t understand what I was asking,so I lived on rice most of the week. Pool-nice pool,lovely temperature and clean and safe area with nice views and lots of beds available. All inclusive-don’t be fooled it is not like other Tui AI hotels.many drinks,snacks and cocktails were chargeable unless you paid extra to be ‘premium’. You also have to pay to have pool towels changed at €2 per change. Entertainment -not very entertaining unfortunately. Areas of the hotel had been shut without any forewarning including bars,restaurants and lobby waiting areas.the noise caused by the works was piercing -and no apology nor explanation put up -the staff said it will be going on until December and contractors were on site with all their tools from the day we arrived-so someone somewhere definitely knew this was happening. I can see how this hotel was once amazing-the setting and views are beautiful but unfortunately the hotel itself has let it down ,I would not recommend going there until the works have finished and the hotel can improve on what seems to be a continuing theme from reviews about the food.

    “Cracking location with great service”

    This was my first time to Tenerife and i wasn't disappointed. We had a week long stay with the intention of resting and doing a bit of exploring on Mount Teidi. We achieved both in a hotel that looks across to the dramatic Los Gigantos cliffs, offering good facilities supported by friendly and very helpful staff. This is a great All Inclusive hotel.

    “Disappointing”

    First visit to a Barcelo hotel not sure if I would visit one again. The work on the costal path being carried out by Tenerife council is beyond the hotels control and caused little disturbance. However the internal works started in the hotel during the last few days of our stay was very disruptive as it involves the reception area, the tapas bar and a large room opposite the restaurant. As the reception area has been temporarily relocated in the downstairs bar this leaves only the pool bar open. Guests and tour reps were not given any warning that this work was happening. It appears that this is a major renovation which while we were there last week was very noisy and is set to last for 2 months. The food was very repetitive and mediocre almost the same things on offer each night, the atmosphere in the restaurant felt more like a canteen than a 4 star hotel, with long queues for the freshly cooked meat and fish. The room we had was on level one the room was spacious and light nicely decorated, we had a good size patio. There is not enough outside space for the number of guests which meant that there is not enough sun loungers or umbrellas, all 3 pools are next to each other so gets very crowed in this area. The staff were very helpful and professional which is a testament to their work ethic as there are not enough staff, I seldom saw more than two waiting staff in the restaurant. Sadley I did not feel that I have spent 2 weeks at a 4 star hotel.

    “Needs improvement”

    Lovely rooms and couldn’t fault the pools, but seems around the pool area was never cleaned in the week we were there ,and the entertainment was not all that good , the food was ok but repetitive and was disappointed with the cocktails coming out of a carton . We decided to pay for a burger at the bar area for a change and had to pay as it was not included in the All inclusive and I’ve never experienced such a terrible burger , this hotel really needs to improve if it wants to remain a 4* in my opinion.

    “September Sunshine”

    Arrived at this hotel after 22 drop offs 2 hours later. Have since learned you can fast track your journey with a maximum of 6 drop offs or less. On a positive note it was a bit like an Island tour and takes you to many places you might not visit yourself. The check-in was seamless with a glass of cava on arrival. Our room was very modern with a sea view to die for. Coffee and tea making facilities were provided. Bed and bedding were lovely and comfortable and bathroom contained many good toiletries. This hotel had all been refurbished before we arrived. Air conditioning was okay although it was very warm whilst we were there. Dining area and outside dining area were beautiful. Unfortunately the service was not so good as there didn't appear to be enough waiters or waitresses. Food was just okay. You will never starve and always find something to eat. Quality of all inclusive drinks were good or you could pay a small charge for premium drinks. The pool bar menu was pretty limited and if you were all inclusive you could not use it for food between 1 and 3 unless you paid for snacks. This would normally be the time we liked to eat so found ourselves eating in the outside main restaurant. Service at the poolside bar was good. Evening Entertainment at the Hotel was very good as was the day time activities. There was 3 medium sized pools which were heated to a fabulous temperature. Would have like some changing cubicles around the pool to change out of wet swimwear. Ample sunbeds and umbrellas. This hotel is in the most picturesque position and very close to Lo s Gigantes and Playa del Arena should you be looking for a nice walk. Also close to public transport with a few restaurants and shops around. We had a great holiday and the only piece of advice would be to improve the food choices and quality. Would I return to this hotel - Yes without a doubt.

    “Cracking location with great service”
