“Honest Review - All inclusive is not inclusive!”

Just returned baack from here yesterday. The weather was hit and miss. Started of cloudy with a chill in the air then got warmer in the afternoon but not as hot as you would like for a beach hol!The hotel is set in a hill so feels more windier than the beach. Hotel is very big and clean. Rooms were large and clean thanks to the lovely cleaning staff.Only 2 english channels on the tv. Water bottle supplied on first day but not after that and trying to get a bottle of water out of set eating times was a struggle. Food was okay however never hot and buy time you manage to have a look round anything you put on your plate was cold when you got to your table. Plus side wine bottles to take to your table. Staff some freindly some were damn right rude. There is a lot of rules that you mist obide to. Cant have coffee from certain machines at certain times. Cant take glass wear out of the resturant. When it gets close to the end of any dinner service no cuttlery or glass wear available, your literally having to go on a hunt. I took my 2.5year old son. They placed me on the 5th floor down one flight of stairs up 3 to get to my room. On the night of my arrival at near gone midnight they gave me a map and sent me on my way buggy and luggage in toe.... distaster! No help or guidance at all. We then discovered that the all inclusive that we though we were getting isnt actually all inclusive. They have a seperate A+ band which includes the whole cocktail menu a seperate dining area with a wine list and what appeared to be waiter service a seperate breakfast resturant which you couldnt access unless you upgraded. This created quiet a segregated atmosphere. When we asked it was 19€ a day to upgrade. We ended up paying for the kinda cocktails you want to drink. The spa is also not included this is 10€ just to use indoor pool facilities plus 2€ for cap which you must have. All the pool tables, kids entertaintment table cost 2€. There is a kids area but not for tots. There is an console with demo games but again hit and miss not always working. Barcy club only open 2 hours in morning at then in the afternoon. Nothing great. Nothing much else for 2.5 year old to do. Then when he did play in the area one of the staff called him crazy and was deterring him from playing with soft play cushions. Beach was beautiful and not to far. Hill was a workout but beach was worth it. Not much else do round there. Overall was the only pro was the hotel was large and clean and the beach Cons All inclusive only means food and very basic drinks with use of outdoor pools. Staff not very helpful or friendly unless your German. Not child friendly Wouldnt not stay again

“Not what they make it to be”

We just returned for a 7 night stay here all inclusive, the hotel itself is very charming to look at and very clean and tidy. We booked a sea view room, which was an absolute joke with the view we got in room 7203. All we could see was the huge sister hotel infront of us blocking our view which I've attached a photo of the 'sea view', when we approached the reception staff to complain they were less than helpful and very rather rude. The Man (I would normally say gentleman but that he was not) that spoke to me parter basically told her to just be happy with the room and get on with it, we obviously did not take lightly to this a demanded to be moved or refunded and was told the earliest they could move us was Saturday this was 4 days into our holiday. So PLEASE BEWARE when your booking a sea view room it's a con. The room itself was big, TV didn't work but that was not really an issue for us but may be for some, the first night we had bad winds which was howling through the room roof and rattling the patio doors this also is ridiculous in a 4* hotel it was like sleeping in a hostel with its paper thin walls, we could here every conversation from either side of us. The food was edible, I've eaten worst food in all inclusive hotels but it's very bland and repetitive you won't starve. We always managed to get a seat and find something to eat when we first got there but decided to eat out the last 2 nights. The fact they split the Barcelo+ guests from the standard all inclusive is obsered. I've never witnessed such madness in my life and I am well travelled. The fact you cannot take a bottle of water from the canteen (it's not a restaurant) is pure greed. They will not allow you to take a bottle even though you have already paid for the privilege which forces you to pay for a bottle at the pool bar. Just to squeeze thay extra bit of hard earned cash out of you. The pool area very nice, clean and always managed to get a sunbed. The beach is a MUST SEE it is beautiful! Take some nuts with you and feed the chipmunk they are adorable and so friendly. Don't be fooled by the breeze you will burn, I learnt the hard way, get thay factor 30 on at least! It's a nice hotel but I feel I was better and slowly going down hill with the extra charges on everything. To some it up I would say it is very much a family hotel not a couples. If you like lounging by the pool and not leaving the hotel then this may be ideal for you. All the added extras you have to pay for when you get there does not make this a 4* hotel. I've been to far more nicer 3* hotels. Would I return ? No I wouldn't.

“Don't worry about the bad reviews”

After reading some of the reviews I was worried. Is shouldn't have been. Great see views on the top floor of block 7. Big balconies with clean rooms and comfy beds. "Hill of Death" is just a hill. If you can walk you can do the hill. Food was good. Always something new and only repetitive if you keep putting the same thing on your plate. Staff worked bloody hard to keep the eating areas clean. No issues in the restaurant. Time slots are not managed. Go in, find a table and eat. Shorts are find in the night. Not much around the hotel apart from a few restaurants and shops. Nice quiet stay. Pools are great. One cold and one heated. Gym is nice with various machines and free weights. Beaches are lovely. I would recommend and return.

    “Fantastic holiday”

Just got home from a fantastic 7 night holiday with my 2 friends at the occidental jandia mar. Everything was brilliant. The anamacion team were so good and were so friendly. We joined in with pretty much all the games such as crazy football, crazy golf, zumba, yoga and aqua aerobics every day. We also enjoyed the cocktail making every lunchtime with the reps being so enthusiastic. The reps were lovely especially bene, christian, dani, julia and celeste who went out of there way to chat to us which helped make the holiday fun. The evening entertainment was really good with the reps doing there own shows and external acts coming in equally as good. The accommodation was lovely with the rooms being of a clean standard and a decent size which was nice. The swimming pools were lovely with a good selection of sunbeds. The all inclusive was brilliant and food and drinks were of good standard each night with a lot of variety. The snack bar was also a huge bonus with a big variety of snacks. Overall i would definitely recommend this hotel and have already spoke about coming back again. Thanks for having such a brilliant team it really makes the difference.
