    “Good food & comfy beds”

Hotel: This hotel was built in the 90's and has received little updating internally since then. The rooms are outdated with random slaps of bold green paint on the side walls and there is a horrible laminate effect lino on the floor which is extremely sticky and dirty to walk on especially in white socks! The bed is extremely comfy and I would like them to a big marshmallow with plenty of pillow size options. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room and a bottle of water upon arrival. The fridges are unlocked and are good to keep cold drinks in. The bedside cube lights are nice and perfect for quiet time albeit they look dirty and grubby. There are Jack and Jill sinks in the bathroom which is handy and there is always instant hot water. Despite my room being next door to my companion I had a walk in shower and she had a bath with shower over which was unusual. The Aircon isn't the best and it's more like piped air than anything else so I did ask for a fan in the room which was provided. Having said that, if you leave a card in the slot and leave it on all day it is a welcome cool room after a day in the sun. The balconies are decent and there is decent furniture on them ...none of that white plastic patio rubbish. I did think it was unusual not to provide an ashtray out on the balcony for all guests but after the 3rd or 4th day one randomly appeared. Beware of closing the patio door behind you as I did lock myself out once and there was no way of opening it from the outside so I had to get my neighbour to go to reception for me. Awkward. Staff: On the whole they were exceptional, I did have a run-in with a certain member of reception due to his rudeness and complete lack of empathy and understanding and found that a certain bar man in the lobby bar was abrupt but other than that they were great, got to know your names and your drinks and very attentive. Restaurant/food: How anyone can grumble about the food here is beyond me. There were a couple of times when stocks were running low of an evening but it can't be helped. It's obvious to anyone that it's purely down to more people eating at that specific time on that day. BREAKFAST: Plenty of choice from cold meats and cheeses to fully cooked including black pudding. A few random items like carrots, chips and peas but whatever floats your boat. The bread selection was amazing with at least 10 different kinds of slice your own bread and rolls as well as big standard sliced bread for the toaster. Never had to queue for the bread or toaster. The only thing I would say is that there can be queues at the coffee machines this is for several reasons, mostly people getting drinks for their whole party but also because the tea drinkers have to get their hot water from these machines. I would suggest dotting a couple of hot water machines around with the required condiments to reduce the queue at the coffee machines. The coffee itself was lovely. Eggs can be cooked to your liking as well. One thing that puzzled me was their horrible soggy, chewy streaky bacon that they provide at breakfast yet at the pool bar at lunch you can get a nice piece of English bacon to put in your burger. If only they just done English bacon in the morning but that's just my own little gripe. LUNCH: You could either snack at the pool bar which consisted of burgers and hot dogs and salad and chips (and occasionally a BBQ) or you could dine in the main restaurant (can't comment on this as never went for lunch indoors) however, the food at the pool bar was hot and freshly prepared (only had 2 lunches during the 10 day stay). DINNER: Again, you get 2 options here there is an a la carte restaurant which is near the outside pool bar - makes a nice change to be waited on and given a nice bit of sirloin steak or chicken in mushroom sauce (see pics) however, it lacks accompaniments with a shot glass size of rice or the tiniest baked potato you've ever seen! The alternative is the main restaurant which can feel a bit like a canteen but people need to bear in mind it is catering for the masses. Plenty of choice again with pizza and pasta a nightly regular as well as special themed evenings. There was always several dishes to my taste and it was mostly piping hot. The salad was immense and really looked and tasted fresh and crisp. The deserts were plentiful with lots of ice cream on hand and the cheesecake was lovely! One thing to note which I found was that not ONCE in the 10 days did I see a fly on or near any of the food whether it was breakfast, lunch snack bar or evening meal. This is a big thing for me and I was shocked at how well everything was prepared and served and kept fresh. Bars/drinks: As all inclusive this entitled you to their local branded version of most drinks which are fine. The local beer is called Tropical and (in the main restaurant it is help yourself) They do have branded drinks as well which you can have but will have to pay extra for and, they also have other bottled beers as well which you can pay extra for. They also had Koppaberg on tap which was 3.50€ for HB guests or 2.50€ for those on the AI plan. At the pool bar and in the main restaurant they have all the fizzy on self service machines where you can help yourself as well as ice if required. The only thing I found annoying was the size of the cardboard cups given at the pool bar. Luckily, I took my old refillable Disney mug with me and despite a few looks no one questioned me when I filled it up with fizz during the day around the pool. Water is plentiful and it is bottled and in dispensers dotted around the hotel. This was free and you could top up your room bottle or any other bottle as and when you wanted. At both breakfast and dinner in the main restaurant you are offered glass bottled water which is nice and included in AI although they do take the screw top lid away so you can't take it with you. There was a queue in the lobby bar most evenings but it soon went down and for everyone that tries to push in the bar staff sternly send them to the back of the queue which is nice to see. If you don't mind drinking out of plastic or paper cups then nip outside to the pool bar to get your drinks there's usually no queue there. Pool: We spent most of our days around the main pool and tried to stay over by the tennis courts for the best of the sun all day. There is a slight towel issue on sunbeds from about 7:30am but, considering the hotel is mainly British people, I'm afraid to say that we are the worst for saving sunbeds! The sunbeds themselves are plentiful and very comfy...never came across a broken one and there are also tables and sun umbrellas dotted around to use if required. The pools themselves were warmer than any I've come across before. There is a shallower one (where they do activities) and a deeper one which I found pleasant. They were cleaned every night by Robert the robot (look out for him going up and down from about 7pm onwards) and regular water checks were done during the day by maintenance and lifeguard staff. My only gripe around the pool is they need to empty the bins more often. They fill up easily by lunchtime and this can cause items to blow out with the wind and it just makes the place look uncared for. Entertainment: firstly, the animation team are very reserved I found and don't hassle you to join in with activities that being said, many got cancelled due to lack of participants. They all work very hard from 11am until 11pm. They have a sunset party night in the pool bar every Saturday with a decent DJ and they make a huge bowl of Mojito cocktails which are strong and free for everyone (even HB guests). The magic show was quite good as were the acrobatics the rest of them were hit and miss. After the entertainment in the lobby finishes they open up their mini nightclub behind the lobby bar but it seldom gets many people in it. The fact that they have a singer or pianist on from 8 until 9:30pm is nice before the main entertainment of the evening starts. Overall: As mentioned previously, this hotel is in need of a makeover. The corridors to the rooms felt like I was in the Overwatch hotel in The Shining and I was just waiting for a lad to come past me on a tricycle or a set of twins standing there staring at me round each corner. There is NO air con in the restaurant or the lobby and it can get horribly hot and muggy in the lobby in the evenings which causes lack of enjoyment as you'd rather be sat outside or in your room with the piped air con. This really let's the hotel down on a comfortable side. Another major issue is the lack of seating in the entertainment lobby and outside by the pool bar. So many people had to stand up or were watching from the reception balcony because there were just not enough seats. On the Saturday outside party night people were resorting to having to sit on sun beds to be able to enjoy the DJ and cocktail making. For me personally, I found the chairs in the lobby to be very awkward and uncomfortable and, if they were half the size then you could get twice as many seats in and let everyone have a seat. I also struggle to understand why people complained about the toilets in the communal areas, I found them to be spotless both the ones near the pool bar and the ones behind the main restaurant although, weird that none of the men's contain any urinals and only cubicles! Finally and, on a personal note, a HUGE thank- you to the guest relations manager, Nancy and the deputy hotel director, Marc. I think you know who I am from what you have read (241/242) for turning our first 24 hours in your hotel around. Your customer service skills are fantastic and continued throughout our stay. If it hadn't of been for you both this review would've been very different. I would certainly revisit this hotel in the future and it would be great to see that a refurbishment of the rooms had taken place and an updated air-conditioning system was installed in the rooms and communal areas. I applaud you both on your exceptional customer service skills and how far you went out of your way to turn our initial 24 hours around.

There are some areas of the hotel that could do with a refurb but having said that there are plenty of positives about this hotel that outweigh the décor. The rooms were spotlessly clean. The food in the restaurant was varied, well presented and plentiful. Every member of staff that I interacted with was welcoming and very helpful. The bar staff made a great effort to remember drinks orders and look after you. I certainly felt that I was treated well as a guest and that I had a good holiday experience. Thank you to all the staff.

    “Great holiday”

Had a wonderful week here and would recommend the hotel. Helpful staff, good food and lovely room. It is a little way from the town but there is a free bus during the day and taxi fare is only about €4 each way.

    “Friendly staff and comfy bed”

Really enjoyed this holiday. First time in Lanzarote as we usually go to Tenerife or Fuerteventura this time of year. Lanzarote is fantastic. The hotel is perfect. If you want good value this is the place. It’s not expensive and you get a lot for your money. The staff are outstanding. Very friendly and welcoming. Room was terrific. Very clean and comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in on holiday! View was utterly amazing. Little beach at hotel is lovely and protected by a rocky cove for safe calm swimming. We were all inclusive. Drinks were ok ( wine beer local spirits) food was good but not enough meat and fish for my liking ( too much pork and sausages) . Great choice and selection though aside from this. Didn’t sunbath around pool as it was crazy busy but there is another quieter pool and the option of the beach. We walked most days and the promenade to Costa Teguise is lovely and flat and took under 30 mins at a slow pace. Very pleasant. Lots do to despite not being in the heart of the action. Great value for money and would visit again. Really enjoyed this break. Highlights: staff, bed and proximity to airport. Lows: can be crowded in bar at night and long queues for drinks no table service ( but that’s me being very picky)

    “Wonderful Holiday”

I and my wife have just returned from a wonderful holiday staying at this hotel. The rooms were bright, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was superb with separate shower room and toilet which meant two people could comfortably get ready for an evening out at the same time, especially as the wardrobes and drawers were in the bathroom The main restaurant was clean and pleasant with an excellent choice of food. The staff could not have been more helpful, especially when concerning my wife's Coeliac condition, arranging for items to be individually cooked so they could not be contaminated with Gluten. The a la carte restaurant was also excellent though a little unimaginative when it came to my wife's gluten free desert for which they offered a huge bowl of Melon. The pool bar was pleasant with a good snack bar and Ice Creams were available all day. The entertainment was of high quality though not always to our taste but that is just choice, however, because of the huge atrium which forms the main bar, stage and on a sort of mezzanine, the hotel entrance and reception, much of the sound is lost up in the roof so perhaps more attention could be given to the placement of speakers with the acoustics of this enormous room in mind. That said, overall it was fantastic and we would happily stay there again.
