Barceló Bávaro Beach - Adults only reviewed by akuup2017 on . Beautiful resort at a value price. The ground were beautiful and all the resturants were in walking distance or the tram came every 15 min. I always felt safe as I walked around the resort. I believe the wait staff were not used to...     “Excellent”

    Excellent resort, very clean , resort sets on large plot of land , very good restaurants , rooms and food with smiling service. We could not use beach as there are no Umbrellas on beach, nice white sandy beach , this will an improvement. Very helpful staff who goes mile to deliver. Would recommend to any one ,adult or family, lots of activities

    “A Great All-Inclusive!”

    My wife and I just returned from a 10-day all-inclusive, at the Premium Level, and experienced a great time at the Barcelo Bavaro Beach resort. The staff was friendly and attentive, which was by far the most outstanding of the resort's qualities. The grounds were expertly maintained, the pools were beautiful and also well maintained. The restaurants were appropriately supplied with a wide variety of foods and staffed appropriately. The sporting and gaming opportunities(i.e. putt putt golf, tennis, fooseball, ping pong, water sports, shuffle board, etc.) were available and in good order. While the beach was beautiful and expertly maintained, the only slight drawback was all of the motor boating activities just off the coast which interrupted the view and calm of the beach and sea. This was our second all-inclusive to this Barcelo resort (we stayed at the Palace--adjacent property--previously and not at the Premium Level). Being at the Premium level made a huge difference for us and it would be difficult to "go back" to the basic level given the extra amenities that we received. For this trip we also considered other resorts, but thought Barcelo provided the best value for the money. We will definitely plan to return and bring our children and grandchildren next time.

    “Entertainment”

    First trip here, entertainment team great especially Miguel and nelson!!!!!! Would only come again if these guys are there!!!! From morning TIL night they have kept us entertained thoughtout our trip , always happy and willing to help !!!

    “Poor hotel, avoid.”

    Where to start....(we are still here for 4 more days by the way! Room 2033 Bavaro Beach)...this is going to be a long rant but you’ll find it very informative for your decision whether to choose this hotel or NOT. We arrived on 9th Nov and all was good, quick check in at the front desk and looking forward to our beds for the night....quick shower found that the shower head was broken and was more successful at washing the taps than putting water on your head. Bed sheets were stained and what can only be described as dry blood marks on the duvet. Black long hair all over the floor, but by this time at night and after travelling for 12 hours we just removed the sheets and got some shut eye. Woke up in the morning and went to the all-inclusive mini bar to get a nice cold water...mini bar not even plugged in so luke warm water it was! Went to the reception in the morning after breakfast (which is a good buffet, see not all negative) to notify them of the shower and that the cleanliness and quality of the room was not up to standard. They acknowledged our concerns and said they would be rectified, we arrived back to the room after a day at the beach and in fairness the shower head had been mended but the cleanliness of the room was still questionable, with the mini bar not restocked and no fresh glasses provided for drinking water. Then we had a visit by 2 cockroaches of which my stamping skills came into play, then we found one going through our toiletries! Totally disgusting. Sorry to say it doesn’t end there...on to the restaurants...it’s pretty impressive that in every restaurant we have been to so far we have waited over 30mins to receive a drink and have our order taken (Santa Fe and La Fuenta), it has required me twice to go and find a member of staff to place an order?? The food unbelievably salty and dry probably to disguise the lack of taste and quality. We were in La Fuenta a few nights ago and a bowl of mayonnaise was spilt over the floor next to us and all up the curtain in the restaurant, instead of rushing to clean up every staff member walked past it laughed and did nothing. 10mins later the girl came and started to clean the floor by putting little bits of tissue on the floor and using her feet rather than just wiping it up by hand and laughing with colleagues like school children. Not taking on board the risk of people slipping and injuring themselves. On 14th we were invited to give feedback in person at the Guest Service, we gave all the information as above (and more but I can’t be bothered to sit here and ramble on) to my amazement instead of trying to rectify the problems we have received we were sat for an hour whilst they offered us a reduced holiday in Mexico....do you really think after reading this I would consider sinking another £4500 to go on holiday with you again....sort this one out first! Best bit from the conversation was the following comment ‘You’re in low season so don’t expect to have the same quality’...I couldn’t believe the cheek! I can accept that there may be seasonal changes in the food but to state that the quality of service would be less because we paid less in the off season was an incredible statement. We came here to the adults only during off season to avoid school holidays and have a relaxing time, not to receive ‘less quality’! But we were told for the second time that things would improve and be sorted today.... So we returned to the room about an hour or two later to find to my horror that our balcony door had been left unlocked with the pin removed! Anyone could have walked into our room and taken what they like as we are on the ground floor (more concerning my golf clubs were in the room ££££’s...they can’t fit in the room safe!). Hair was still around the sink from my morning shave and the sheets looked as though I had made the bed. And surprise, surprise only one glass in the room, I even had to laugh at that point, it still makes me laugh at the lack of attention whilst I’m writing this. If you don’t laugh then we will cry...which actually my girlfriend has but I will come on to that. So day 7 of the holiday and complaint number 3 undertaken, spoke with manager this time and she assured that this would improve. Came back in the evening and the room was spotless, clean, minibar stocked, clean towels and fresh linen. Amazing! Thank you! Don’t get too excited, our joy was short lived. 16th Nov and we went to Mexican restaurant since then I have been bed ridden with food poisoning. Sickness and diarrhoea, I only left the room to get more water and allow the cleaning team to change sheets and detox the bathroom. 17th Nov...yep, you guessed it, more issues this time the shower going hot and cold constantly. Maintenance guy came last night but hasn’t done anything. Genuinely never thought I’d say this but can’t wait to go home and back to work! But then out of a good gesture they offered us an evening meal on the beach.....we thought ok not amazing compensation but at least they’ve recognised their poor service quality. However, we would only get this if we were to sign a disclaimer to say we wouldn’t take any action for any wrongdoing the hotel has done during our stay! Haha I laughed when handed the waiver form with the menu, I refused to sign and requested the manager contact me in the morning to discuss. It’s now 2pm and nothing (I’ve been in bed sick all morning so no excuse). Conclusion: The rooms and manner of the staff in general are of poor quality and not what we expected of Barcelo chain (girlfriend stayed in Riveria Maya and was very impressed hence why we came here). Food very poor apart from breakfast buffet. They say free round of golf, that’s incorrect you have to pay $75 for a cart and cannot walk the course...doesn’t say that when you book online. The only saving grace is the beach is beautiful and where we spent most of our time to get away from this awful hotel. The grounds are pleasant and well kept but this doesn’t make up for the shortcomings of this place. God knows how some people have given it a 5 star rating, all I can say is they must have low standards. It’s not adult only either, you have to go to the main area for restaurants which is not adults only! Oh and to prove I’m that upset I even went and bought an internet pass to post this! It was meant to be 12 days away with no internet! I just hope I can save other people looking to book to this hotel from making a BIG mistake. I expect the normal copy and paste response from the manager to this comment too. I’ll be going higher with my complaints don’t you worry as this holiday has been totally unacceptable.

    “Great Vacation”

    Spent 10 days at the resort. Didn't like my first room wanted a room near the pool. Front desk staff was very accommodating. I just had to wait until the next day. My room number was 1029. Rooms could stand to be updated. Overall great resort.
