    “Beautiful grounds and very clean”

    The hotel and the grounds are very clean and kept up beautifully. Registration was smooth and Juan Carlos at the reception area was super friendly. The major complaint our entire group had, is that the majority of the staff does not make you feel at home, especially at the buffet and the bars. I understand that they might be overworked and tired, but please put a smile on your face. The ladies especially never seemed to be very friendly, and we are a group that always leaves a tip, regardless of the hotel being all inclusive. We appreciate good service and always tip, but at the buffet it was always a fight just to get the glasses filled with water and replenished. They really don't make you feel at home. At the specialty restaurant things are a bit better. We had excellent service at the Spanish Restaurant and at the Japanese restaurant. There they really took care of us, and were super accommodating. Housekeeping staff is very nice and does a great job. Service at the beach, if you are outside of the main pool area is non existant. The bartenders at several of the pool bars are very rude and again, never with a smile on their face or happy to help you. Maybe they are overworked, not sure. The noise that goes around the grounds to keep the birds away from the food is very annoying. It gave several people major head aches, and when we talked to the employees they said it bother them too, but eventually they get used to it. We were there a week, and it bothered us the entire time. The food was average. Some things better than others. The variety tends to be a bit repetitive. We stayed at other Barcelo's where the food and variety was really excellent, but here our expectations were not met. Nickolai at guest services was always super friendly and very helpful. He really knows how to treat his guests. Always goes the extra mile to help you, and even if at the end he cannot, at least he tries hard and with a smile. The majority of the other staff, just tell you no, can't do, without even trying. The beach are is nice, despite the sea weed, but they do have workers every day that clean up the area. The water sports are fun, and we really enjoyed the paddle board and kayak, and the hobby cat. Our room kept of getting more and more humid even though the AC was working. I think they may need to put some dehumidifiers. The sheets felt wet and sticky by the time we went to bed, and all our clothes felt damp. Room is plenty big and very comfy.

    “Best service from Wilfredo and Marcia in Taino pool bar!”

    Taino pool bar. Best service from Wilfredo & Marcia. Very attentive, always promoted a friendly, positive, vibe!. Fast service. Good drinks. We definitely had a great time. Ask for the Wilfredo special!. Delicious, tropical drink that you absolutely need to try for yourself.

    “Dirty Rooms Stay Away”

    Bavaro Barcelo Resort STAY AWAY!!!! Still have 7 more days...uggghhh Arrived and waited 45 minutes for transfer to hotel to depart. Check In takes 1 1/2 hours.. What we encountered... After check in process they at advised us our room was not ready at 4:30 PM...went for a bite to eat at Strikers and it was not up to par of a "Luxury Resort" We go to our room on the 4th floor walk up and after an initial inspection... Stains on Sheets Bathroom had hair all over it Trash in draw Dust...A lot of Dust on both ceiling fans.... After about another 1 1/2 hours this guy "Jhonny" supposedly took care of us... Room on the 1st Floor and added amenities (that were already included) We get to the new room and guess what... Hair and Make Up on bed sheets Dust...A lot of Dust on the fans of both rooms... It's crazy... After sitting down with "Jhonny" he said I'm going to get you an upgraded suite... I went to see him just now and the upgrade suite is the following... Access to Water Park(already included) Visit to other area of resort Access to French Restaurant NO SUITE Upgrade.... This place is a SHAM... It could really be a luxury resort if they had... Beach and Pool Waiter Service Cleaner Rooms Better Customer Service I have done a substantial amount of traveling in my years and have stayed at cleaner Hampton Inns with the best customer service. Sticking with The Hyatt and Hilton properties from now on....

    “Beautiful Resort and is Perfect!”

    We had a blissful 24 hours at the resort due to a flight cancellation. Our room was beautiful and top notch. It was on the golf course right on the lake. the green was lush and the landscaping was picturesque. there are so many restaurants to choose from. We loved everything. there was such a variety and the desserts were delicious. We loved the show, the theatre was huge with ample seating, bar service and special effects. It was a sight! We then enjoyed the casino, which had dancers, drinks and ample tables, and slot machines. Everyone from our bell hop to waitstaff, front desk and everyone else was so helpful and nice. Did I mention their is a water park and the kids club is awesome and stays open until midnight!? We truly enjoyed ourselves. Barcelo is our new favorite resort chain!

    “Beautiful Beach - Terrible Food and Drinks”

    The best part of this resort is the stunning views and gorgeous beach. We never had any problems finding chairs for our group on the beach. The pools were great but crowded and impossible to get a chair after 8a. We had a family room which was the perfect size. Air conditioner didnt work very well nor did the refrigerator which was inconsistently restocked Our kids, 12-15 year olds, had a blast with all the activities. Didn't go to the water park. The food and drinks ruined the trip for the adults. I booked through a travel agent and had no idea about the premium level option. It's really the only way to get a reservation at the full service restaurant at a decent hour. Although we found tipping helped a few times. Restaurant food is average and the buffet food is horrible. It's a buffet for thousands of people so there is really no way for this to be decent anyway. It's the same food every day. Sports bar was horrible - no reservation needed and still a buffet. The Japanese restaurant was good and the steak restaurant was our best meal. The Mexican restaurant was not very good and the seafood restaurant was ok. All drinks no matter what you order come with some kind of syrupy mix that tastes horrible. A margarita tastes the same as a rum and coke. How is that even possible? The wine is undrinkable. A few days in we started to order wine for $80-$100 per bottle each night. This is wine you would pay $20 for in a US liquor store. I don't drink beer but those who did in our group said it was the best option. I tried to upgrade to premium as soon as I learned about the restaurant reservation issue a few weeks prior to arrival and they said they didn't have any premium rooms available. I asked if I could pay for the premium wristband but stay in a regular room and they said no. Overall service was good and you do need to tip. We would not return here. If you decide to go, book premium level and be prepared to drink beer for your entire trip.
