    “WOW WHAT A HOTEL AND TRIP”

    This hotel is a fantastic place to stay if you're going to Punta Cana Dominican Republic. The Occidental is one of the best places NO the best resort we have stayed at . Stayed here for 14 nights at a very good price ,We cant give this enough praise to this place. From the moment we arrived the staff could not do enough for us. They had golf buggies and bell boys to take you and your luggage to your room. The room given to us in block 16 was very spacious , cleaned every day with fresh towels and in the middle of everything. food, food and more food, everyone tastes catered for here and plenty of restaurants to eat in. The buffet or the a al carte restaurants the food was all top quality. The main building buffet area for breakfast lunch and dinner had very helpful staff. one special mention to a member of staff was Franklin Hernandez, This waiter was very very helpful and did everything for us that he could to make our meal times great. Plenty of entertainment during day and in the evening they had a show at the theatre, The hotel is very close to the beautiful beach with plenty of sun loungers. I've read a few reviews picking about little things before i went ,but if you can't have a great trip at this place then your the problem not the hotel. The experiance we had was superb and can't fault a thing. Life is about memories and this is one of our best. We were at the hotel when hurricane irma was about. The staff had the guest interests making sure everyone was safe, again 10/10. i could go on and on with praise , I highly recommend this hotel resort for your stay in Punta Cana

    “WE'RE JUST NOT A FAN OF PUNTA CANA!”

    We stayed at this resort for 2 weeks in August (August 14th-28th), and we found this vacation to be a very average one! The renovations at the propriety are beautiful, the food was good at all restaurants, and the pools are beautiful + clean but that's where it ends...unfortunately! The beach was our biggest disappointment...white powdery sand, you can walk for miles but it's filled with algae! Like lots of it... Drinks were not the best (to say the least)...way too sugary or watered down! I'm not a picky drinker by any means, but I couldn't finish most cocktails I ordered. Also a big thumbs down for animation staff, they were all nice and tried to organize activities...wasn't that bad during the day, but we were so bored at night. Literally nothing to do after the nightly shows, (its a weekly program, so if you stay 2 weeks we see everything twice...this should be changed as lots of guests stay for more than 7 days). Mangú disco is alright, can be fun if you find a group to go with. Also most of the guests were Russians (during the time of our stay), huge language and cultural barrier! Just not something I expected in Punta Cana. Also lots of groups of young people (security had to get involved and kick some guys out of the pool) Also, for any Canadians travelling with Air Transat holidays be very careful with the tour representative at Occidental Punta Cana...we booked a day excursion to the Samana Bay Area and totally got ripped off. Not only did we pay 40$USD extra (per person) more than a couple staying at hotel next door, but he insisted we buy water shoes for 25$ USD at tu local market when water boots we provided and included! (needless to say, he never mentioned that). Just be extra careful if you do book a day trip with him. Would I return to Punta Cana...that's a big no! Just not a destination for me. Nothing special, that would justify a return visit

    “Fabulous beach and staff”

    One of the best beaches I have experienced: powder fine sand, tide not too rough; just wish I could have had good snorkeling (then it would have been the best). I recommend upgrade to First Club as well worth the price. We enjoyed each of the reservation restaurants much more than the buffet, but it wasn't terrible either. Shout out to Wilton and Rosario, our favorite bartenders, and to Presidente Franklin, our favorite server. Due to Irma, we had to extend our stay. We are so glad that Irma did not damage this jewel. The hotel was very organized and concerned with everyone's safety We also enjoyed a great parasailing ride on a boat right off the beach.

    “Beautiful resort and wonderful staff”

    Really enjoyed all the staff at First Club and throughout the resort as well. Each night there was a show for after dinner entertainment. Shows are located next to the bar where Nordy is ready to make drinks for you while you enjoy the show. The restaurants were all really wonderful. You are able to get an appetizer, main course and dessert. The Mexican restaurant has an awesome nacho bar which includes a really good cerviche. I spent most of my time at the first club pool due to a leg injury before my trip. I really wish they had someone service the pool area and bring guests drinks by the pool. This would be my only negative thing to say. The staff at the first club is wonderful and very helpful. I would recommend this resort to anyone visiting Punta Cana.
