    “99% of guests are German”

    This hotel is not really suitable for English couples looking to chat and befriend other holiday makers as it is really just for German people. They didn't really want to be bothered to try and talk to us unfortunately (one actually questioned why we were there). Rooms very small, no tea and coffee making facilities and no fridge. Spanish hotel staff are lovely and swimming pool nice. Lots of stag and hen dos and walls very thin as you can hear every noise. Overall extremely disappointing as we chose the fully inclusive option. Definitely would not recommend.

    “Lastminute.com is last time I book ”

    Further to our horrendous experience and desperation to move from ola el vistamar hotel. Lastminute.com only choice was here. For the uk traveller it is predominately at German used facility & if you like to drink & speak German. (Fact, not meant as insult) you will be fine. There was a drinking sing along by the pool at 11.30 that continued through the day, as observed and videoed from our balcony! The staff were quite bewildered why we were there but we're reasonably friendly. The facility is built in amongst other high rise hotels. We stayed in our room as we were a source of interest outside our sanctuary!😳 We booked the evening flight back to uk. Had enough

    “Only one chance to make a first impression .......”

    ..... it was missed. (better than "average", not sure its "very good" though. Unfortunately, we arrived at the hotel after midnight, due to several travel problems. We have stayed at many Barceló hotels, but don’t feel this time we were given all the information needed to make our stay the best possible. Nothing was mentioned about; using the restaurant for meals other than breakfast, or any upgrade options, the use of the room safe and its cost (2€ a day), not acceptable for a 4* hotel, it should be included in the room rate, the use of extra hotel towels for the pool and any local helpful tourist information, maps, etc. In their defence, it was very late, the reception staff should have asked us to come back in the morning to get a full briefing, we found out things by chance. Admittedly, I did not examine the website well enough, having been used to excellent rooms and en-suite facilities in previous Barceló hotels. But the double room on first opening the door, looked tiny (19m2), it’s long and thin. The bed-end only an A4 sheet length from the opposite wall, the tiny bathroom and the floor tiles, which on first glance, looked dirty and worn. Closer examination of the floor revealed it was in fact an unfortunate colour and pattern, making the room look dingy, and surprised there is not a minbar! (4* hotel, hot climate!!!) On the plus side, the breakfasts were excellent, wide choices, both hot (although the hot food was not kept hot enough) and cold. My staple breakfast requirement of a 4* hotel, fresh fruit, both as salad and whole. Fried and scrambled eggs, and omelettes cooked fresh and all dishes regularly refreshed. We paid 22€ pp one night to eat in the hotel buffet. There was a wide choice of both hot and cold dishes, but nothing spectacular. Good value in so far as it is unlimited, but not great quality. Buffet dinners at other Barcelós have had a greater selection of better dishes, particularly fish. On reflection, 25€ pp per day to upgrade to “all inclusive” could be a good deal; most drinks freely available, others at reduced prices, and then the extra meals, which you could take or leave as you wish. It all depends on how close to the hotel you like to stay. The reception staff were rather impersonal, whereas the housekeeping and restaurant staff, were excellent and friendly. The evening entertainment, if that’s what it can be called, was dire – I hope I wasn’t paying for it – I avoided it! The hotel is 5 mins walk from the beach front, 15mins from Palma, 10 from the airport, both by car, the motorway only 2 mins way. The area is generally quiet, you can hear some “bar noise” in the evening from round and about. No rooms overlook the main road to the front. I am puzzled as to why the “Barceló Pueblo Park” (as it used to be called) has “recently” been rebranded as the Occidental Playa de Palma. It seems Barceló acquired the Occidental group sometime back and that it appears to be hotel group of a lesser quality. We have stayed at many Barcelós in the past and all have been of a far higher quality than the Playa de Palma. Maybe that’s why it has been re-named, as it is not as good as other hotels in the Barceló group that I have used! In future, I will look closely at each hotel and its detail before booking. I have noticed that the “Barceló Atenea Mar” in Barcelona is now the “Occidental Atenea Mar”. It was very nice, we stayed there 2 years ago, why has it needed a new name? What logic is Barceló using with its re-naming? (By the way, I have just looked at Tripadvisor for this hotel, not sure I would stay there now, having read recent reviews.) Those booking via Tesco, beware of the euro exchange rate. If you are not paying in full with vouchers. Barceló use the “exchange rate” at time of booking, as a result, costing us over £50 more because of the pound falling in value since we booked 8 months ago, they have converted at a much higher rate than my bank will, when they now receive the euro transaction. All this said and done, I wanted to use Tesco voucher. My first choice hotel, the Barceló Illetas Albatros was full for “Tesco guests”, and now having read some of the reviews of the Occidental Playa de Palma, written since I booked in February, I would not have stayed here and I feel I wasted my vouchers on this stay. Come on Barceló, what is happening?? Note to the British tourist trade, all the staff we met in the hotel, restaurants, bars, etc spoke German and English, just to mention 2 foreign languages!!! As a general footnote, we were informed by several people, that the resort has many German visitors, but not that Playa de Palma is the “German Magaluf”. The hotel has lots German guests, but there was never any problem and it is back a bit from the main “hot spots”.

    İndirim* veya promosyon kodu ("promo kodu" olarak da belirir) normal fiyat üzerinden indirim yapılmasını sağlayan, harflerden ve/veya rakamlardan oluşan bir bileşimdir. Eğer bir indirim kodunuz varsa, şimdi girmeniz halinde bu rezervasyona ilgili indirim uygulanacaktır. Giriş yapıldıktan sonra rezervasyon işleminin 1. adımında gösterilen fiyatlar zaten uygulanmış olan indirimi içermektedir. 

    Tamamlayıcı ve/veya ilave hizmetlerin fiyatına veya satışa sunulmuş olan en son odaların fiyatlarına indirim uygulanmayacaktır. Rezervasyon başına sadece bir indirim koduna izin verilir ve yalnızca rezervasyonunuzu yaptığınız anda geçerli olacaktır.** 

    Bir indirim kodu, özel bir indirim** (pek çok odayı kapsayan, senior, Y kuşağı, kalabalık aile ve benzeri durumlara uygulanan indirimler) ve my Barceló üyesi olmakla elde edilen indirim arasındaki bileşim mümkün olacak şekilde, toplam maksimum indirim miktarı, Latin Amerika'daki otellerin fiyatı üzerinden maksimum %25, Avrupa ve Akdeniz'deki otellerin fiyatı üzerinden maksimum %20 olacaktır. 

    *Barceló, ilan edilmiş olan indirimlerin uygulanmasını kabul etme hakkını saklı tutar. 

    **İndirim kodunun uygulanması, otele varış anında geçerli değildir, yani yalnızca rezervasyonun gerçekleştirilmesi anında indirim geçerli olacaktır. 

    **Otel, indirim kodlarının ve özel indirimlerin koşullarının karşılanmakta olduğunu teyit etmek üzere, resmi ve geçerli kimlik belgelerinin ibraz edilmesini otele giriş sırasında talep edecektir. Herhangi bir durumun akredite edilememesi veya bunların karşılanamaması durumunda, otel asıl rezervasyonda indirim yapılmış olan tutarları tahsil etme hakkını saklı tutar.
