    “Best family resort in Southern Spain”

    If you are looking for a good holiday experience in the south of Spain and have kids, this hotel is a no brainer. A great beach is just in front of it, has fantastic pools and a bunch of entertainment options from the early morning until night; kids have plenty of games, sports and things to do too. One has to take care, as All Inclusive scheme can drive you to gain a couple of pounds in a week, but the restaurants (4 of them) have a good variety of mediterranean, healthy meals, including a great "gazpacho" for lunch of natural orange juice for breakfast. Several sport activities are for free as well. They attended our special dietary needs well, and were proactive in offering ad-hoc menus every day at lunch and dinner. Entertainment at night is best-in-class, and in any given week you can witness 4 different musicals plus other shows. One can hardly find this Value-for-the-money.

    “A 1200 room hotel that lost its soul (if it ever had one)”

    - Rooms - The room was clean and spacious and had a free safe. We stayed for 1 week, and bed sheets was never changed though. Beach visits resulted in sand in bed. The cleaning staff spoke no english but was exceptionally friendly. Actually the friendliest at the entire hotel. I paid extra for a room by pool view - a choice I regretted each evening as the hotel had either spanish disco, karaoke, live music or just screaming splashing midnight guests visiting the pool during night time. Entertainment rarely ended earlier that midnight. I found this to be quite wierd for a hotel with so many visiting children. The safe was appreciated, as the area is not gated. Anyone can enter Barcelo Punta Umbira without a pass. - Pool & bar service - AWESOME. And cleaned every morning. My daughter age 8 loved it. We are Danish but she made English and Spanish friends from day 1. The Pool bar keeps everyone happy with sweets, ice cream and drinks made of branded alcohol. The fact the pool-bar didn't have local liquor copies, something I had expected, was a great surprise. Plus points for that. - Restaurants - The "Gastronical walk" was a dissapointment. If you serve themed Italian with Pizza - make the pizza good!! If you do Sushi - serve proper sushi! American burger bar - c'mon, do have a vegetarian alternative! You really need to work on this concept and the quality here. I have been to 4 different restaurants and it feels like I have been to one. They are more or less all the same. The food is not very well marked. I am a vegetarian, and I struggled every lunch and supper. Its not like there isn't anything to eat, and the restaurant staff are happy to grill some veggies for you, but its just hard to find and the restaurant staff doesn't really understand english. You have to find the right one and its the same story every time. I would have appreciated more guidance in writing, so I didn't have to bite a stuffed potato - filled with meat. I truly appreciated the fresh orange juice available in the breakfast buffet but I never saw a staff personnel looking none the less than grumpy when loading the orange pressing machine. It took some of the good taste away. - Staff - Inpersonal. I think this is the saddest thing here. All is basically fine with the room, the food, the pool. Everything is clean and good. But I feel like a trading commodity. This is such big hotel that the staff doesn't really see you as a human anymore. You are just someone that orders a drink, asks for food advice, sit in a pool stool. We are actors in a LEAN process. Even if I wanted to acknowledge someone, I cannot, because the majority of the staff did not wear name tags. And those who did, I could not read, as the text was tiny. - Check in - The receptionist got visibly annoyed with me when I wanted to read the fine print of the papers they wanted me to sign. She credited me with answering the phone and then the check in was over. This was a wierd start. - Misc - Maybe Barcelo Punta Umbria Beach Resort is a very bad employer and people are unhappy working at the hotel. I simply don't get it. This hotel needs to work on its "littleness". To get the large scale down and create unique moments and experiences. I was here, but it made no impression on me and I did not leave a mark. It's a bit sad. I would not recommend any of my friends to choose this hotel. I had expected more.

    “Not what was expected of a Barcelo”

    We booked this hotel as we had previously had a brilliant experience at another Barcelo hotel. The positives first. The place is clean and the grounds are well maintained. The rooms have all you need and are well looked after with daily maid service. However when I arrived I thought what have I booked! The place is huge and unfortunately that is what ruins it. It has four restaurants but all feel like canteens. Mass produced food which is luke warm. Unlike the other Barcelo you can not select where you eat you are assigned your restaurant on a daily rota system. We went all inclusive but a bottle of wine is extra, standard is a wine dispensed from a machine in a tumbler. Wine glasses are extra! Thomas cook advertise this as suitable for children with a kids club however English is not spoken and resulted in my six year old feeling at a loss at what to do when. I would not return and do not recommend. Also it has changed my mind about Barcelo hotels.

    Packaged holiday hotel, with powdered orange juice drink served for breakfast Hotel is not on the beach, it is a 8 minute walk acros a busy main road The large pool was absolutely jammed packed every day

I would like to specify as well that it’s true, the hotel is not placed in front of the beach, but you can reach it in just five minutes by a lovely walk through the natural park called “Los Enebrales”.     “Relaxing vacations”

    A very good resort., perfect for families. The rooms are big and clean The staff is polite and fulfied our needs. A perfect set of swimming pools which are very clean and with survaillance. During the night there are four different types of thematic restaurants you can choose but you have somehow follow a schedule of time and type that the resort gives you in order they can manage the circulation of people and not overload them. The food is ok. The amusement team of the resort is good and there are enough activities during the day for all ages.
