    “Very good”

    We loved our stay at Barcelo Beach Resort. Our room was very nice and clean. Plenty of room. The outside courtyard was lovely. Right next to the beach and short walk along the beach to main restaurants and bars. Lovely hotel!

    “What has happened since my last visit in 2017?”

    This Review is not about the Accommodation as I love it, but about My Coeliac Dining as an All Inclusive Returning Guest. We have been to this hotel many times over the last few years and our last enjoyable holiday here was last year in May for which I left a very good review as everything was perfect and especially Gluten Free food for myself as I have Coeliac Disease (Which is an autoimmune disease and I have to adhere to a strict Gluten Free Diet) This has never been a problem until now, so what has happened? We booked a week here from 30th January 2018 to 6th February 2018 and was really looking forward to a relaxing winter break even though we knew the weather was not so good. A few weeks before our holiday I had emailed the hotel informing them I was returning (I think it would be our 8th visit) and that I required a Gluten Free diet and received a reply as I usually do, informing me to make myself known to the Restaurant manager upon my arrival, which I did, but the first day (Lunchtime) there was no Bread available and nothing hot as I had not filled in the form they have on the desk in the dining room reception, but I found salad and had that. The evening was no better as I had to have more salad and again there was no Bread available. Bearing in mind there is a whole variety of breads and rolls available to Non Coeliac's and that the hotel shop sells Gluten Free sliced bread and I had emailed prior, so why was there no Bread available to me, I understand that not many people require this diet, but I had informed them and I paid the same as everyone else but did not receive the same standard as everyone else. There was no breakfast available the first morning and I was told it was not available, Sorry! But I was given a Bread roll in a packet that needs to go in the oven otherwise it is completely dry and falls apart, so I could not eat that. This went on all week, I was told it was not Possible to give me any sliced bread, Why was it not possible when the supermarkets have a good variety of Gluten Free Breads? The dinners were no better, having ordered a dinner on two occasions I was given two inedible meals, Swimming in grease and burnt chips, very unappetising (I wonder what people would say if they were served this in a restaurant?) I am attaching pictures so anyone who has coeliac can see what they might be getting, it is not as good as previous years. I had to go to the supermarket to buy my own Bread so I could make a sandwich for my lunches and toast for my breakfast (I brought my own toast bags and made it in my room) There were no Desserts available, or cakes, or Biscuits so basically I sat watching my Husband enjoying his meals while I went hungry. We come out to Caleta at least twice a year and have stayed in the Elba Hotels and they are really good at providing Gluten Free Food, So our next visit will be back at one of the Elba Hotels I have emailed the Barceló Hotel Group but sadly their Customer Service is not good and I have not received a reply, hence the bad review. Can someone please let me know what has happened???

    “Missing refund”

    Lovely location next to the beach. We went into the buffet restaurant on Sunday 4th Feb around 7:00pm. We didn’t realise that the unlimited food offer didn’t include drinks. We asked for a refund of our money. We paid 37euros. the man at serving at the desk wasn’t very helpful and finally asked another man to come out and issue the refund. The money has still not gone back into my card. The man signed a receipt at the time and put it in the till. I am hoping you can find the receipt and issue me my refund please. We stayed from Monday 29th Jan to Monday 5th Feb.

    “My little bit of heaven!”

    Making this my 5th stay at this resort must say everything. My husband and I both love this place. The location is perfect, right next to the beach. The bungalows are excellent, very clean and have everything you require, the beds are the most comfortable I have ever experienced whilst on holiday. The TV has some English channels and the Wifi is OK, but a little hit and miss in the bungalows. We stayed HB and must say the breakfast and evening meal were excellent. If you cant find anything to eat then I am sorry but you are too fussy! All staff are extremely friendly and helpful, they always take time to speak to you and always have a smile. The extras Barceló provide when booking regularly are excellent, we are currently at Barceló Intense level, meaning discounts and gifts. We love this place so much that we are returning again at the end of April. Well done Barcelo Castillo Beach!

    “Winter Holiday”

    This resort is ok for families, but nowhere for couples to read quietly without music blaring all day. Reception was too slow, and we had to wait 3 hours for our room after a long journey. The bungalow was dark and old fashioned, and infested with cockroaches. This was most unacceptable ! We shall not revisit this resort.
