    “Beautiful place”

    The personnel are friendly, especially a man called Gustavo Fernández, he's dancer and very professional. The food were very delicious and the experience was amazing. The hotel is comfortable. At night, we were needed more people to dance at Disco.

    “Family visit during Spring Break”

    Our room was good, the bed was very sunken in, the shower pooled with water, but otherwise very nice and clean. We took a family trip with a 2 year old. We chose it because of so many kid activities. It has like 3 kiddy pools. a playground, a kid club house with toys. It was great, except there is sooo much walking! We didn't bring a stroller, but wish we had. The beach is nice and empty, even on spring break. The food is ok, the buffet has a good selection. Unfortunately, any time they say "natural juice" they mean natural flavors of Tang. It's all powdered drinks. Even the orange juice is fake. Really sad. Stick to the coffee. At least that is real. I did get a very nice massage by a girl named Noelia. She knows what she's doing, as opposed to Angelica, who only rubs oil on your back and calls it a day. She must be the estetician. Overall, it was a great trip. The staff is super nice and they all love kids, even the cleaning ladies. We would go back.

    “Great time and helpful personnel”

    We visited the hotel from Sunday to Thursday and it was not during peak season, but still summer. The place was pleasant, comfortable and the scenery was beautiful. The personnel were helpful and friendly. Food and drinks were available all the time and they had very nice activities and shows to keep the crowd entertained. I would go again

    “Appreciate the cultural differences”

    We have stayed at other Barcelos and have great experiences and I went to this Barcelo with the same high expectations. At first we found ourselves complaining and comparing and then we reminded ourselves we are in another country and experiencing their culture. Many workers did not speak english but were never rude and always tried to understand even if it was them going to get another worker to understand. We did experience really long lines at the beginning of our stay which was over a weekend. The lines were long because of a lot of Costa Ricans were on their week end get aways. And I understand week end traveling I live in Michigan and on week ends us Michiganders will travel north for our get aways. The only thing is when your a 100% capacity on weekends and you have to wait in line to get a burger or a drink and they are not short lines. All they need to do is open up another bar area because during the day on wk ends they have two- one is at the pool bar and there is no way you can break through the huge group that has gathered there since 8am. The other bar is at the snack bar and that usually was a line of 20 people on weekends. The snack bar line on weekends is insane because they make your burger on demand. On wk ends make a burger bar with fries and guac and chips so that its endless and its more buffet style. I know the snack bar has a small strange buffet already but it isn't organized nor do the foods quite go together. Even the chips would be at the end of the bar, salsa in the middle and melted cheese at beginning. So the lines go everywhere. Even at the regular buffet the syrup is put in place before you can get your waffles or pancakes and with lines its impossible to get back to. The flow has to change so the lines won't be crazy disrupted. On the weekend I felt as tho I was at Disney World waiting in lines. After the weekend though it was like a completely different resort. Its what vacation is about! What I can suggest is on your busy weekends that service is different to eliminate long lines. Being that we only speak english and most of the guests are spanish speaking - almost every single time we stood in line we were cut in front of and we could not say anything because no one understood us. It was frustrating to say the least. Even having pool side service where waiters take your drink order. I usually tip when I go to resorts but here because I felt like I was in school lines and waiting on myself I didn't tip as much. So the other issue we had is there was four of us in a room and they would only give us 2 bottles of water. I went and asked guest services for more bottles and she said you get two and she told me to use the cups in my room and fill with the bathroom water. There is two problems there 1. there were lip marks on the cups 2. We didn't have cold water at times and when we had cold we didn't have hot. So finally I talked with the manager and explained my frustrations and he was very kind and made sure we had plenty of bottle water the rest of our stay. He also said after the week end most of the people will be gone and he was right it was easy to relax, get food or drinks and a lounge where you wanted. Even tho there are minor things that need to change to eliminate lines this was still an amazing vacation. The view you have at the beach is simply amazing and I would get up every morning and watch the sunrise which was beautiful! The sand isn't the white sandy its darker volcanic sand but I loved it being different because it went with its surrounding of the mountains and the lush feel. We did two amazing excursions that got us immersed in the culture (I booked this myself) and we loved Costa Rica and the people! We did private boat excursion thru zuma tours and they picked us up right on the beach of resort. The guides Douglas and Johnathon really shared so much about Costa Rica and took us all around. The second excursion was a suggestions by one of the Costa Ricans we met at the resort he spoke very good english and told us to go to montezuma falls and then to Santa Teresa Beach for dinner at Banana Beach restaurant to watch the sunset. He said prettiest sunset in the world. I went to guest services and asked for a good driver (english speaking) to take us for the day. They sent us Julio who spoke very good english and was also a tour guide on his days off for another company. He was the absolute best! He took us to the falls and thank goodness hiked us back to the falls (you need good tennis shoes or hiking shoes for this) but once you get there its awesome you can jump into. Which two of our party did jump. Then we toured thru the streets of montezuma which its like a hippy town and makes great pics! Then on to Santa Teresa! Banana Beach has great food and the worlds most beautiful sunset and beach. Saw horses running alone on beach with the sunset. Just a great place with super nice people. They had bonfire and fire show that night! Costa Rica is a must! We loved our trip but one thing that topped our trip was the twin engine plane we took out of San Jose to our resort. I paid for a private plane to land at the air strip on our beach by the resort. It was inexpensive and there in 25 min vs a 5hr car ride. My husband said that it felt very island like and it was his favorite part especially the pictures. So I would recommend this resort but the changes to service would keep me coming back.

    “Little effort”

    The place was ok, the service however was lacking "courtesy" and "friendlyness", specially one of the bartenders at the snackbar, the person who opened the bar was really rude stating that she would not serve the people to the left of a friend of mine, and I was there, problem is that I was there first so in my opinion that takes away one whole star. The other star goes away due to some minor details like the structures being slightly dirty and also we never got drinks for our minibar. In short, this place is a good place to go chill and eat/drink but the staff lacks customer service, I consider my money wasted as I could've gone to so many other places which had better customer service for the same price.
