    “Couldn’t be happier, Gracias Barcelo!”

    Just returned from 7 incredible days at the Barcelo, Huatulco and I am so sad it is over. My friend and I booked a spontaneous trip and we are so grateful that we ended up here! This hotel exemplifies Mexican pride and hospitality, and went above and beyond our highest hopes for a relaxing and memorable vacation. From the moment we arrived we felt so at home. Our room was clean and spacious, our beds were comfortable, and our mini bar was well stocked daily. Our room was conveniently located on the first floor, steps away from the beach. We spent most of our days enjoying the relaxing atmosphere at the resort. Being able to travel into local communities to experience authentic Mexican food, markets, and lifestyle was an added bonus. We visited La Crucecita, Santa Maria, San Agustin, and Pochutla. The hotel is very beautiful and impressive but it was truly the staff that made the experience so special. The groundskeepers, maintenance crew, housekeeping staff, restaurant staff, bartenders, front desk, bell staff, concierge, activities team, spa, and lifeguards truly are amazing ambassadors for the hotel. I would like to acknowledge the efforts of a number of staff who deserve to be recognized for going the extra mile to make our stay a memorable one: Luis from the pool restaurant, who always remembered us, and brightened our day each morning with his singing, smiling, and making sure that we were well taken care of. Nemian Torres for his enthusiasm and energy. He taught us new games, and was always planning something fun for both kids and adults. Alvaro and Fernando, the bartenders, for creating delicious tequila concoctions and working so hard to keep our drinks filled. Francisco, who was in charge of the water sports, for sharing his knowledge and expertise of the area, and for his sense of humour during Mexican Bingo. Carlos, the lifeguard, for keeping an eye on the waves, and for the friendly and informative conversations. These people are truly some of the friendliest and most hardworking people I have ever met. I would highly recommend this resort for anyone seeking a holiday in the sun in a safe, loving environment. We will cherish the memories that we have made here. Thank you, Barcelo Huatulco for your kindness and hospitality! Hope to see you again soon!

    “BARCELO HUATULCO......bare bones 4 1/2 STARS?”

    We did have a good time on our vacation to the Barcelo Huatulco. There were protest road blocks out when we left the airport, but this had nothing to do with the Barcelo, they had no control over this. Consequently we got to the hotel a lot later. The good things I liked about this hotel, was the room, very comfortable, the beach was okay, little hard for walking as some areas are on a slant, but lovely sand. Trying to get a reservation for another restaurant in this complex was just so painful. When the hotel staff are not honest with you about restaurant closures ( the restaurants are closed this weekend) when they should be saying (the restaurants are closed for renovation.) In other words there was no way we would be getting a reservation. The Japanese restaurant had around 4 tables for reservations, we were able to get into the Mexican restaurant one night and this was the only other restaurant we ate at. The main Buffet area, is very small, it is decorated lovely, but when the rest of the complex pours in there for dinner, it is loud, no ambiance , and because they are so busy, it is hard to get a refill on your wine. The food was mediocre and very repetative. It looked like a lot of the dishes were on repeat for dinner. The one thing that I noticed was there was not a piece of cheese to be had except for breakfast and they had two kinds most mornings. They had desserts out but presentation was non existent. Your typical cafeteria style setting. There was not cutting station, where they cooked and carved a roast or something, and this is what we always look forward to when we choose 4 or 5 star hotels. We always found something we liked to eat but as I said the food became very repetative. This hotel caters a lot to Canadians, but when asked to put a hockey game on in the sports bar or the lobby bar, they would not do it. Consequently we left the hotel and found an establishment that was more than happy to receive our business and provided hockey games on the big screen they had installed. We met a lot of other people from our hotel there as well. Why push our business away when we could be tipping your staff members? Like I said, we had a good time regardless of the food, lack of reservations. We always tipped, even if service was lacking. We have been, we have experienced, and I am afraid though we will not be back. thank you

    “Great week in Huatulco, not so great a week at Barcelo”

    We go to Huatulco twice a year at least, often stay in one of the all inclusive, have stayed at Barcelo before, but this year there were a host of problems; We stayed in Room 124 1. The shower kept flipping from scalding hot to cold while we were in it, I have a burn on my back from the shower as I didn't move quick enough, this happened every day when showering 2. There were kids running around at 1 and 2 in the morning and screaming, had to call security repeatedly to get them to quite things down, I understand this is more a parenting problem than a hotel problem but it was often the same repeat hotel room and kids and the hotel didn't do enough in my mind 3. Got woken up at 11:30 on night as they were using a pressure washer right outside our room washing the deck, now i can appreciate them keeping it clean but 11:30 at night come on 4. The cancelled our reservation in the restaurant and flipped our reservation to the next day because of the Mexican fiesta night, now I get it plans change but they told us at like 4:30 and some of our people were out doing things and planning to come back and we already had plans to visit friends the next time, very unfortunate 5. The whole booking the restaurant thing, having to get there at 9 am to book for that day, we are not stay in the hotel people we are out visiting friends, doing things having to stay around for a specific time just to book a restaurant for that day, crazy stupid 6. Service on the beach, two days we stayed the whole day on the beach, from 7 am to 530, except when we had meals, breakfast and lunch, and we saw the waiter maybe 5 times total over those two days, had to keep going back up to the bar to get anything to drink and I even tipped him reallygood the first time and said I need to see him regulatory. Generally not happy at Barcelo at all, Love huatulco but will not go back to Barcelo unless things changes tremendously.

    “2 weeks of fun in the sun - loved every minute!!!”

    This very well run hotel exemplifies Mexican pride & hospitality. The hotel employees (groundkeepers, maintenance crew, housekeeping, restaurants & bars, front desk, bell staff, concierge, activities team, spa & lifeguards), are wonderful ambassadors for the Barcelo "brand". My compliments to the hotel's management team for creating a customer service oriented work environment for your employees. Special thanks to our housekeeper (Room 402), Olivia (Concierge), Francisco & Fernando (water sports) & Areli (Activities). 2 disappointments: room service not included for non premium guests & substandard wifi (which we purchased). This was our 2nd trip to Huatulco (1st time at Barceló) - we'll be back as there are still things on our bucket list which we want to see, do & revisit..

    “Vacation 1 week all inclusive ”

    Beautiful week. Worth the upgrade for Level Club. Enjoyed a private boat tour of the 7 bays. Safe to take $5 taxi to town. Enjoyed paddle boarding and aqua sports. Great place to snorkel! If you’re looking for mini adventure as well as a place to relax and unwind.
