    “Most Friendly”

    Everyone here is so very friendly. Norma at the buffet front desk remembered our name and room number after a couple of days. Bellboys Cain and Carlos acted like we were long lost friends and helped us get a cab everyday. Every person at this hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. This is my 3rd trip and plan to go again next spring.

    “1st time to Puerto Vallarta but second stay with a Barcelo resort.”

    Overall the resort was beautiful. We were a little disappointed with the beach area as it is quite small but the pool was well kept and clean. The foliage/trees/flowers were absolutely stunning! Staff was great, Tony at the Cantina and two other bartenders (didn't get their names) were really wonderful, always happy and smiling, sometimes singing! Elizabeth Gavino, entertainment staff, was always getting the crowd going and laughing. Stephi Reyes, entertainment staff, gave me a wonderful pool-side massage (completely unexpected) and it was AMAZING! Ricardo Mirarola (spelling may be off) had a smile EVERY TIME we saw him- he was a joy to talk too, very happy young man and always answered our questions! Food was very good! I enjoyed the lunches at the snack bar and the speciality restaurants were wonderful. Adelina messed up our reservations (after we asked her to correct them) but the hostess was gracious enough to accommodate us. Buffet was good as well. Rooms were gorgeous and clean. Great views!!! I would image any room would have a spectacular view! Our room had some electrical issue in the bathroom with the light fixture and we lost power but maintenance was on top it it. Closet door was off track. The Micheal Jackson show was off the charts AWESOME! Brilliant performance by ALL the dancer! Very impressive! Spa Massages were AMAZING at the Spa! We had a $500 Credit for discounts and did buy additional products/services but was told we could not use since we did not tell the SPA/Gift shop we had the discount. We spoke with someone at the front desk the night before we checked out and he said he would honor it but the next day we check out with another individual and he said he would not honor it even though we pointed the other gentlemen out. Very disappointing. I did win a pair of diamond earrings for Mothers Day from Diamonds International for the Mother's Day celebration! That was a wonderful gift! Outstanding food that night and great show. Wait staff was excellent! The resort overall was nice. They are a lot of locals there and seem to be friendly. Definitely a ton of kids. This is not an "adult only" resort. I felt for the most part the staff did a great job to make our stay and everyone's stay a pleasant one. Just disappointed with the $500 credit/discounts and the lack of explanation and how to use it. Thank you,

    “Struggled with this review...”

    As most of you know this my favorite hotel. I struggled with this review because of my fondness for this hotel and the fact that I was super sick during my visit and was not feeling good. Days before I left I wasn't feeling well. Didn't go to the Doc cuz I thought I was going to be okay. So, I have been there 8 times (4 in the last year). One free trip on the Barcelo because of the naked people debacle. Six months before the journey I explained that it was my anniversary the day we arrived and my birthday and my sisters Bday while we were there. Emails back and forth show I requested Tower 2, rooms next to each other and I hinted at a possible upgrade for our celebrations and continuous business. I got the usual "we will try" response and I completely understand that. Booked transportation thru Superior Tours who did not show up. Grabbed a van for less than Superior around 60 US. He even stopped for beer and water with no extra charge. Arrived at the Barcelo to our favorite housemen Humberto, Mario and Max. Check in at Club Premium was packed with one guy doing everything. I got a drink and something to eat and sat and waited. Upset to find out we were in Tower One our rooms were not together and they did have upgraded rooms but we would have to pay. All this time going back and forth and they couldn't figure it out. So the kid gave us our wrist bands and off we went. Don't get me wrong the rooms were excellent with a great view but the were dead and could have accommodated us. For our anniversary we received a brownie and bottle of champagne. Unfortunately, the brownie was in my room and the champagne in my sister's room. Lol. The check in kid mixed up our bracelets so if I wanted to charge to my room I couldn't because I had a wrong wrist band. Room service was awesome as was housecleaning. I didn't eat much but everything looked great and my family enjoyed. The kicker was on the day we arrived (Sunday) a pigeon landed in our planter on the balcony and laid an egg. The Mom sat all night on the egg and the Dad would come at morning and relieve her. The next day they had another egg. I know pigeons are pesky and gross but it was very cool to see how they each played a role in it. Wednesday morning we got back from breakfast to find three men in our room without our permission. One was cleaning our balcony, one was standing by our partially open door and the other standing by my husbands open suitcase. Very odd. I was livid. They had destroyed the eggs. One guy said that "security takes them to an incubator" so they are safe. Ordered all of them out of my room asked for a manager who never came or called. The Mom and Dad bird came back for 2 days sitting on an empty nest. Went the next day to speak with Lucy Carrillo who was obviously made aware of the situation and had an answer for everything. They take the eggs and incubate them until they hatch but at the same time was saying that they try to cut down the pigeon population. Completely understandable but why do you lie especially when you are so horrible at it? This really shook me....probably didn't help their case because I was sick. But to screw up such easy things. Great things are still there though. The beauty of the Barcelo still rocks. Antonio at the Cantina Bar still is awesome. Others not so much in comparison. Doubtful we will go back because of non caring attitude for the customer in Club Premium, the lack of appreciation or concern from Lucy Carillo and the downright terrible attitude. Don't expect anything for free but a little appreciation goes a long way.

    “Great Resort”

    My family had a great time at this resort! The room layouts are perfect for families. The resort is small enough to get around quickly enough. Our server in the buffet, Oscar Martinez, was AMAZING! He catered to a family of 14, 7 of them being young children, effortlessly. The beach area is not expansive, but overall we enjoyed this resort.

    “Loud but Beautiful”

    Downside first: there was a wedding 4/5 of our nights at the hotel. And they were LOUD. Extra amps and fireworks..literally. It would have been fine if it were just my husband and I but out two year old couldn't go to sleep before 11pm. Upside: The service was incredible. Special shout out to OSCAR MARTINEZ. I've never had better service anywhere.

    “Great Resort”
