    “Too bad about the bugs.”

    My wife and I just got back from the Barcelo a few days ago, and I'm not about to review food and people who complain about not receiving enough shower soap. But I really have to address the bug bite situation. These nasty little creature are called jenjenes. First off I should mention we have stayed at this hotel six times in the last five years or so. The hotel and location in our opinion is wonderful and all the people who work there are the greatest. Friendly, helpful and on top of their game. Now back to the mosquito issue. The Barcelo is situated at the foot of the sierra Madre mountains which is where these nasty little bugs originate from. The hotel does all they can by spraying early every morning to try and keep these pests in check and supply bug spray to guests as well. I used their spray and brought my own repellent but nothing helped. I was bitten quite often and the itching cost me a little sleep one night. Unfortunately I'm not sure we will return to Barcelo p.v. In the future, which is sad as we really like this hotel a great deal. Obviously not everyone gets bitten and I don't believe my review will deter people and it shouldn't, but if you're prone to bites, well people get ready! Oh yeah, some people might think why did we keep going so many times if you keep getting bit. The answer is the first four times we really never got bitten. But please consider this hotel if bugs don't work you over. Again great people working there and the hotel I believe has the best rooms in puerto vallarta. All of them suites. Fantastic. Adios Barcelo, we truly will miss you.

    “Very good resort - location not optimal.”

    The resort was very clean, room very spacious and staff friendly. Food choices were very limited - however had some of the best dessert crepes I have ever had! Wifi in the rooms was poor and the beach was VERY small. Pools were very nice. Need more hammocks! It was far enough away from the downtown city area on a curvy road that it did not entice us to leave the resort during our week stay.

    “A little disappointing”

    A group of friends, 26 in all, just spent a week at the Barcelo all-inclusive resort. The facility was smaller than others we've stayed at and a single resort (no shared beaches/restaurants with other resorts near by). The rooms were very comfortable with great showers. The staff was excellent, very friendly and attentive. Beach area was very small. A local gal, Suzy, pretty much owned the beach. She was quite the business woman and made sure you got whatever you needed, including fishing, out of resort excursions, whale watching, jewelry, clothing etc. She was awesome! The disappointing part at the resort was the food. So bad! Even the special evening restaurant meals were really bad. Even though the food was just one part of this trip, it's kind of an important part of an all inclusive. There were local restaurants near by that had great food but obviously at a cost. I would not go back to this resort.

    “Very Nice Resort, Great Staff, Very Clean”

    We are at the Barcelo right now and have another 9 Days. The rooms are huge, very clean, food is very good. The staff throughout the entire resort are awesome. Our room was not ready when we arrived they had to replace something in it, but the 5 hours we waited the staff checked in with us to make sure we were okay. The beach is small but the views from the rooms are amazing. The only negative is their wifi, they charge each individual for it, because of the expense we only hooked up one device to keep contact with our family. Other then that I would reccomend this resort and we will be back.

    “Noisy, noisy, noisy, Dated and mostly poor service.”

    Barceló Puerto Vallarta is the perfect definition of desapointment. It is at best the fruit of bad research from our part to the perfectly hidden aspects of this hotel from the lack of information by the hotel and honest reviews. - This hotel is noisy, noisy and even more noisy. Music starts very early in the morning and extends greatly into the evening making this place a perfect retreat for people who value above all..Noise! Depending on the time of the day and your placement you can hear loud screaming music from 3 different places at the same time. The evening show, the bar downstairs and the every other day wedding at the pool taking the perfect centre stage ressonating thorough the whole property. - The Wifi is a joke. I am all for... If it doesn't work just remove it completely. Don't fool your customers with services that at best enfuriates even the calmest person. Offering wifi to premium customers is the same as telling (sorry, our wifi doesn't work above the 6th floor so premium customers - 7th to 9th floor don't have to pay). Every other place in this hotel works poorly and intermitently. - Customer service at the premium lounge is great with nice, polite and educated service representatives who are there for you whenever you need. The operator and front desk lack this nice service the premium level has with un-informed cold and careless service. - Our choice for best restaurant in house is the Spanish with great and tasty food. Try their sangria, its delicious! - The entertainment is (D-) Options lack taste and creativity ranging from Archery to Michael Jackson??? Please don't get me wrong I love his music but not enough to make it a main entertainment feature in a resort. To finish. If you would like to spend sometime wondering thorough the streets of beautiful Puerto Vallarta please pick a place closer to town. You can take a cab from Barceló to downtown that will set you back $25 each way or as I would recommend adventure yourself to take the bus, its very cheap and lots of fun belonging to the community and experiencing their every day commute but it takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes each way. Taxi takes about the same travel time.
