    “Great Customer Service, 3.5 Stars”

    We stayed at the Occidental for only two nights (Two Couples) prior to going to Sayulita. The property itself was clean and the service from restaurants to the pool was excellent. We found it very odd that there are no rooms with a balcony as this property is ocean front. The windows had no means of opening and it felt like any room we would stay at in a basic hotel in Canada. There are three a la cart restaurants (Italian, Asian and Mexican) . All were good but not great. We agreed that staying more than 4 or 5 nights might be too long and get repetitive. We would like to thank the hard working staff that greeted us from the time we arrived to the day we left.

    “Great place to relax”

    Our second time here. This is a smaller sized resort (170 rooms) which we would to be a nice size as one does not have far to travel from your room to restaurants to beach to bar etc. Kudos to Carlos, the lobby bartender, who was there from 5 years ago, who makes everyone feel welcome. Also to Fernando in the buffet.

    “Used to be a fun hotel but now attempting a patina of pseudo sophistication”

    We have stayed there numerous and we always were able to have a good time and meet new friends however due to lack of bar space it seems the hotel forgot to have fun. too bad as it is a nice small hotel and you should be able to meet fellow vacationers

    “Small resort”

    Traveled in a group of 5 couples all middle age and this resort was very nice in general. The buffet was good but very under staffed. The staff should be trained better for dealing with more than one person at a time. Staff are pleasant but overall over worked due to under staffing. Hotel is clean and generalling well kept. Lounge area needs new furniture, more tables and chairs, the few they have are broken down or do not have enough cushions for the extra large couches. 2 friends took bke tour offered and were sore for days due to the poor, poor condition of the bkes. This resort is best for older couples although a few young families seemed fiine with limited resources. Did see a couple of. Weddings nicely set up, but this resort doesn’t easily accommodate large groups for meals in al a cart restaurants. Our grroup had to sit apart often. The pools are kept clean and beach is lovely. Evening snows are decent. If in the area I highly recommend the “Rythm of the nights” Show, Lovely evening.

    “Occidental”

    My experience started very poorly as when I arrived I was told they did not have a room for me. After 2 hours they found one but it was quite unsettling during that time wondering what the outcome would be.
