    “Winter Sun”

    Awesome stay, with great staff, would recommend to others. Hotel was clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We did bed and breakfast, which worked for us and was good quality throughout. Rooms were airy, functional and great views. Being January we used the gym and free training sessions, Alexandro the instructor was very good, he adapted training and made it very enjoyable. Only down side was the amount of plastic used. Free water bottles (hopefully recycled) and straws with all the cold drinks. Pasta or paper straws please.

    “Faultless”

    Was a splendid stay, although some other guest were a bit stuck up I throughly enjoyed my stay. I’m 26 and the average age of the guests was about 50, the staff were amazing always smiling by the final days of my visit even the cleaners knew my name.

    “ShortWinter break”

    We stayed for 4 nights half board. The suite was fantastic, very spacious. The majority of staff were great - some great professionalism and service in the restaurant and we loved the food on half board. The pool area was fab and heated pool was a bonus.

    “A hotel that delivers the luxury it promised”

    It is rare that a hotel exceeds expectations - this one did. The room was spacious, well-equipped and the view was spectacular. The bed was superb - best sleep in years. The choice of restaurants over the whole campus was excellent - we used the buffet-style restaurant on the night we arrived and enjoyed the variety of food available ... however, for the rest of the week we ate in the a la carte restaurants and were very impressed with the quality, choice and value. Our meal at the Maresia was incredible - and the level of service matched the quality of food and wine. The pool and surrounding areas were immaculately kept and the staff were attentive and welcoming.This hotel is a real find and I hope they are able to maintain the high standards they currently achieve for many years to come.

    “The Good & The Bad”

    We came at the beginning of October and had an experience with lots of positives and a couple of really annoying negatives. First the positives: • Excellent buffet options for breakfast and dinner (if you have half-board option). We were very pleased with the quality of food, and being able to have a number of small things cooked to order. Probably the best buffet I’ve ever had, so definitely would recommend the half-board option. • Very nice pools (one on ground floor, other at top of building on 5th floor) that are large enough to swim in • Very clean grounds • Good service (umbrellas for shade, food, drinks) and friendly staff • Good explanation of facilities upon arrival • Rooms are big • Location was great for us (close to airport, a couple of wineries, a horse riding destination, 5-minute walk to beach [though other beaches around the island are better], and on the shorter side of Mt Teide if going up) • Pillow menu is available for proper comfort while sleeping • All rooms look towards water (note, resort isn’t on the water, but many floors can see it over the other buildings) And the negatives: • As some others have mentioned, the air conditioning is insufficient during hot weather. In my opinion, the cost for a room at this resort should allow guests to control the temperature of their room. However, we could not get our room below 24 (75.2) for the first two days, which is not a comfortable sleeping temperature to us (most of the time it was over 26). After 3 courteous complaints (trust me, I loathe making complaints at hotels or resorts, but I think this deserved attention at a 5-star resort) and 2 maintenance visits, we learned that the entire hotel (i.e. all rooms) is kept at a minimum temperature set by the hotel. So, you can’t cool your room below this unless the folks at reception set an individually different temperature for your room. Reception finally did this for us after the 3rd complaint, but after 5 more hours, still no drop in temperature (note, the thermostat is quite simple to use, and even maintenance confirmed it was set correctly each time). Reception noted if the change in settings in their computer didn’t fix it, maintenance would have to return once again. And so they did the second evening we were there, and apparently cleaned a filter and a valve this time. We were able to get the temperature to 22 (71.6) sometime in the middle of the night and it seemed to stay there the majority of the next two days. Note, I’m not upset at the hotel controlling a minimum temperature, but this AC system already shuts off when the sliding door to the balcony is open at all (I.e. when patrons are careless and leave the AC on with the door open), and a minimum temperature of 24 is not reasonable to me (we gathered the minimum temperature setting for the entire resort ranges between 23 and 25 depending on time of year or other factors), especially for night time, as it’s not comfortable for sleeping. This resort was built in 2018, so energy efficiency should have been a top priority if saving on energy costs is such a big deal for the resort. • Speaking of built in 2018, I also find it a bit unreasonable that the tap water from the faucets cannot be drank safely. We got conflicting responses from staff, but the general consensus was even if it was safe health-wise, it has a lot of minerality (sodium), a lot of chlorine, and tastes very poor (I can confirm it tastes poor). I realize this seems to be an issue for the entire island, but if the resort was built this year, why is there not a better water filtration system? I’ve stayed at numerous hotels in China (built 10+ years ago) where the water was completely safe to drink, but local tap water would certainly not be safe for consumption, unless you wanted to be in the bathroom all night. Aside from the environmental impacts of having to always drink bottled water, the resort would generally only give you a half a liter of water per person per day, or perhaps one additional small bottle if you ask nicely. So, you either go to the grocery store yourself and buy large bottles (note, check sodium content or you may end up with salty-tasting water! 55mg/L was quite noticeable for us), or pay 4 times the cost of the store at the resort if you want water outside of with breakfast (or at the gym) where it was free. You obviously should be drinking well over a half a liter per day during the day, especially if in the sun or if drinking alcohol. It’s kind of a bummer to stay at such a quality 5-star resort and be stuck paying for bottled water most of the time. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here, but were disappointed with the room temperature and drinking water situation. Had those issues been addressed properly and immediately, we would be giving this resort 5 stars easily.
