    “A welcome return”

    This is our fifth visit after a four year break and we were pleasantly surprised by the improvements that have been made since our last visit the dining room has had an update the choice of food is very good and the staff were as efficient and polite as ever and a special mention to the regular member of staff on the omelette station the bungalows which we would highly recommend have also been improved now have an ironing board and iron which I personally find a godsend and a minibar which is restocked everyday our only criticism is the lobby bar which unfortunately is as warm as ever which is a shame as it is a very pleasant place to sit and the service is good there is entertainment every evening in the main hall which isn't for us and of course not forgettingthe beach which is the best w'eve ever seen This hotel is perfectly situated on the edge of Varadero which is well worth a look a good selection of bars and restaurants particularly worth a mention are the la babacoa (best sangria) which is next to Arenas Blanca's and the cave which is in the park we had to book this hotel independently as it is not in our brochures but for those of you who have stayed here before and those who are thinking of doing so I would definitely give it another chance you won't be disappointed don't forget not every hotel is perfect and we will definitely be returning soon

    “To be evitate this resort”

    For 8 days our experience was terrible because the hotel, very old everything, dusty and not clean. Also restaurant a few days offers food poisoning and all demage things. Pool 🏊‍♀️ with green water and smelling duft. Their is not four ⭐️ but 2. Varadero offer a lot off hotel, try not to take that.

    “Avoid this hotel - No longer a 4 star.,,”

    The reason I chose this hotel was it was walking distance to town and it was recommended by friends who stayed there before unfortunately the hotel has declined over a period of time (in the last 3 months for sure). As a seasoned Cuba traveller (I have been travelling to Cuba for almost 30 years) this is resort is need of major repairs and change as it is not a 4 star anymore.(it may have been good at some point in time but in talking with some of the workers this hotel has gone down hill in the last 5 years)..I have stayed at some 2.5 and 3 stars hotel which were better than this hotel. This hotel has more cons than pros but I will start off with the positive so here it goes.If you want more info please message me and i will gladly answer any questions. PROS BEACH - Amazing. Lots of palapas for shade Miguel (club house) though he doesn't speak much English he was friendly but the tourist would be rude to him especially if there were no towels. This isn't his fault it's the laundry company which does not belong to the resort. George/Hector/Ivonee (all from the restaurant), Morgan in the snack bar were the friendliest servers.. Sunwing reps Ivonee and Feliz were amazing and helped me with my situation as I was booked for 2 weeks. CONS ROOMS: Sunwing offered Promo rooms at this hotel...Warning they face construction of the new International hotel..Reception were unwilling to change the room and kept saying they can't do anything and that the hotel was fully booked which it wasn't. I was advised that the only person authorized to change rooms was the manager...so issue #1 as I was not going to stay for 2 weeks in this room facing construction. Work went on until the late hours and started very early. No one was willing to do anything until I involved the Sunwing reps. I got my room changed (rooms are dated) and everything appeared ok until I came back into my room from going out and there were ants everywhere. So I requested the room to be sprayed and it was definitely another struggle to get this done until again the rep got involved. I stopped dealing with reception and only dealt with the reps going forward. If you are having any issues don't deal with reception as they are rude, deal with your rep. After the ant issue was cleared I started getting cockroaches in my second week and again requested the room to be sprayed and I don't think it was done. I asked the maid if she could spray my room and she had no spray. Reception will offer you an upgrade but will charge you 10cuc per night for this upgrade. It's less expensive to purchase the bungalow room from Canada than to pay extra at the hotel as the exchange rate is a rip off. To change hotels Sunwing was charging me extra to move hotels as prices are different now that we are in Cuba (now we're dealing with Sunwing in Cuba not Canada so we could not get the same deals we would get if booked from here.) I contacted my travel agent too about the room facing construction and he was advised by Sunwing that the hotel was not willing to refund my second week and I would have to pay for a land package at another hotel. Just a note that my travel agent was not advised that there was construction going on and that the rooms faced it or else I definitely would not have booked the room. As I was not willing to pay an additional land package on top of what I already paid, for financial reasons, I made a decision to stay at this hotel and make the best of it. The tourists I met, from Russia, Italy, Montreal and Toronto area were awesome and they too had the same thoughts about this hotel so we all made the best of it. NOTE: Supersaver room does not show up on the room description for this hotel. EXCHANG RATE: The exchange rate remained constant of .65 for every one canadian dollar for over a week. At the bank outside of Arenas Blancas they were exchanging at .70. So exchange at the airport before you head to any hotel. Some hotels I found out while I was on an excursion were exchanging at .74 (which was the same as the airport) so this hotel was taking a larger percentage to exchange. Also, count your money when received as they were not giving the tourists the exact amount. In speaking with other tourist some were short changed around 2 cuc and I was too but mine was smaller amount but the next time I noticed this difference I advised the lady changing the money that she didn't give me the right amount and then she gave me the amount which she held back. Interesting point was that she knew she did it. The rate did not change until sometime half way through my second week. The reception staff don't seem to understand that we Canadians know that the CAD to USD rates change daily and so should the CUC rate as it gets rated against USD. FOOD: I can't comment on the fish as I don't eat seafood. Breakfast: Eggs and omelets and boiled eggs prepared fresh daily. Everything else is pre-made and most of the times it was cold or left overs from the previous day. . Lunch: First week the food was warm but never hot, but in the second week it was a disaster....Everything was cold except if you were lucky to get a few slices of pizza that came right out of the oven. At some point in the second week after so many complaints and review of the hotel, the hot trays finally had steam coming up and the food was warm but never hot. they were serving rotissiere chicken which was also cold but then after so many complaints about food the chicken was placed over the hot trays to keep them warm instead of behind on the counter. NO GRILLING STATIONS were working during lunch. So no fresh meats being prepared during my two week stay. Dinner: No grilling stations available during dinner. The chefs were cutting up pre made pork, ham and beef. Most of the time these meats were cold. Any food in the hot trays were cold. As the 2nd week progressed the food got worse to the point I was not eating anything and would wait for the snack bar to open to get hot french fries. Many Canadian tourists started to feel that the tourists were being pushed to eat out at the restaurants in town. On my last day, the dessert area was infested with cockroaches and I saw the staff trying to clean up the area and spray it then put the desserts back on the counter after spraying it. This really turned me off from eating in the buffet before leaving for the airport. Snack Bar: French fries were the best when available as they would run out during the night. Cleanliness off this area during the night was awful. If food was dropped on the floor no one was cleaning it up. The staff didn't really care during the late hours. If you order any food prepare to stand by the bar until you get the food as they won't bring it to your table and if someone asks for it and you're not there they will give it away. ROOMS: Bed was made daily and toilet cleaned....that's it...if they cleaned anything else you couldn't tell. Air conditioning worked well but couldn't control the temperature so you had to turn off the a/c. Wear flip flops when showering. No big bath towels. Try to change your beach towel when they have clean towels so you can use it for showering. Some rooms were infested with cockroaches. LOBBY: No ceiling fans anywhere and no where to cool down other than your room. Party crowd would play their music very very loud which was fine for the most part but some of the crowd felt that they ruled the resort without taking into consideration other tourists. This resort is known as the party resort as it's close to town. POOLS: Awful...pools should have been closed during my first week. The algae was visible then but they waited until it was in a bad state to do anything about it. Water was green and don't recall seeing it blue except in the kiddie pool area. The sister hotel Arenas Blancas pool was closed the first week for the same reason. Very little shade by the pool area. ENTERTAINMENT: First resort that I never met the entertainment staff. I don't have much to say about them. No activities on the beach...when there were activities it was always around the pool only. I never went to the shows. WIFI: Connection at Solymar is bad...either you can't connect or it drops many times to the point of frustration. First week it was basically unavailable for about 4 days. Also, they ran out of internet cards for 3 days and when asking reception where you can buy one most will tell you they don't know. Thanks to Rodney as he was the only one who told me where in town I can get one. Arenas blancas had none either so I went to Palma real to by some cards. WIFI Connection at Arenas Blancas is much better at any time of the day. I may have missed some items so if you have any questions message me and I will answer your questions.

    “Çok güzel bir plaj...”

    2 gece konakladığımız beyaz kumları ve plajından çok mutlu kaldığımız bir otel oldu. Restoranları geniş seçeneğe sahip ve yemekler lezzetli. Odalar da çok konforlu değil fakat rahat ve temiz. Barlarında sunulan çeşitler pek fazla değil.

    Bir indirim kodu, özel bir indirim** (pek çok odayı kapsayan, senior, Y kuşağı, kalabalık aile ve benzeri durumlara uygulanan indirimler) ve my Barceló üyesi olmakla elde edilen indirim arasındaki bileşim mümkün olacak şekilde, toplam maksimum indirim miktarı, Latin Amerika'daki otellerin fiyatı üzerinden maksimum %25, Avrupa ve Akdeniz'deki otellerin fiyatı üzerinden maksimum %20 olacaktır.

    **Otel, indirim kodlarının ve özel indirimlerin koşullarının karşılanmakta olduğunu teyit etmek üzere, resmi ve geçerli kimlik belgelerinin ibraz edilmesini otele giriş sırasında talep edecektir. Herhangi bir durumun akredite edilememesi veya bunların karşılanamaması durumunda, otel asıl rezervasyonda indirim yapılmış olan tutarları tahsil etme hakkını saklı tutar.
