    “Mother Daughter trip”

    This was our third trip to an all inclusive resort, first time in Aruba. The front desk staff and concierge personal were less than helpful, but the wait staff and pool/beach staff were wonderful. When asked if there were mopeds/scooters to rent on the island the concierge looked at me like I had 2 heads and had no idea if there were any to rent on the island. The front desk was less than accommodating for a late check out. When asked if there were any showers or area to clean up, again I got a blank stare and a flat no. I then learned from another guest that they do have a changing area for just that. Our room had a full kitchen; stove, fridge, microwave but not a single utensil, cup, plate, or pans. Had a blender but no glasses to put your drink into. Two of the four lights were burned out in the kitchen area as well. Our room had no informational booklet/notebook on what offerings the resort had. No phone numbers for any services, restaurant, spa, etc. Wifi is horrible. Free 1 hr/day in lobby with option to buy more. We bought more and it was horrible, continually cutting off mid email or text. Not worth the price. The Hibachi restaurant was fabulous but after a less than satisfactory meal at the Arubian Seafood restaurant, we choose to eat off site after that. There are so many great restaurants within walking distance and Aruba is so safe. The pool is free form with a waterfall and 2 hot tubs. Great area around the pool but like most resorts you have to get up early and grab a chaise. The beach is also first come first serve, but fabulous! There is a great paved path that goes along the beach by all of the hotels. Great for morning walks or walk down for coffee or ice cream. We came for rest, relaxation, sun, and for that we were very satisfied. The fine details need to be worked out since Barcelo took ownership of Occidental. They need better customer service right at the front door. That is one's first impression and theirs is lack luster.

    “Good hotel, Awesome beach”

    Good all-inclusive hotel in the midst of one of the world best beaches. W enjoyed our stay primarily due to great weather & water on the beach. Hotel provided comfortable accommodations & decent service, still a few steps below it's own high standards (we were in Barcelo Maya a few years ago). Buffet food was boring, with limited amounts of fruits and no berries whatsoever. Drinks were primarily local, cocktails made from concentrate, not fresh fruits unlike Mexico. No kids pool, slides, etc. Overall, good option for first-time visit to Aruba.

    “Awesome family vacation ”

    We have been here before when it was the Occidental. We loved it then and now. I do wish there were more things for my ten and eight year old boys to do. A game room would be perfect. We loved the Kyoto restaurant hibachi and ate there twice. Great service and food at Kyoto. Italian was good and the buffet is always a good option. Hotel pool and pool bar is the best!

    “Great Stay!”

    Our stay was great, as usual; we have been staying since the resort was Allegro. Lots of changes and improvements over the years. Their best asset is their wonderful staff. Everyone is so welcoming and eager to please. Many are like old friends welcoming us "home." Marolyn and Belinda in the First Club are the best...they go out of their way to ensure that guests are satisfied. We were also very impressed with the younger members of the wait staff. They are already behaving like "pros." Great job! Although there were some complaints from other reviewers regarding bar service, we did not experience any of that...always got the (top shelf) drinks we requested. As far as the food, yes, there were some "repeats," but that's to be expected in 7 days. Also, the beauty of an international buffet is that you get to sample things you may not be familiar with. All in all, everyone does their best to make guests happy!

    “Amazing vacation!!!!!! The best hotel!!!!”

    We stayed with my family and friends total of 30 people in april for 12 days.I have no words how all of us been pleased with service,restarants and rooms. We stayed at royal level and been treated as royals. Special thank you so much to Jessica!!!!! Barcello is lucky to have this employee. She helped me from beginning through the end of our stayed. Chef Andy cooked us an amazing food and accommodated everyone very fast.Manager Sandra and Veronica at royal made sure we were all seated at restaurants very quickly and our service was good. We visited the following Add to dictionary seafood,all of them as food and service were great.I recommend this resort to everyone!!!
