    “The staff make the stay worthwhile!”

    Great Adults-only resort with nice amenities. Good service by all of the staff. Friendly, safe, courteous. Excellent beaches and pools with superb bar and food services. Not too much entertainment to get on your nerves, well maintained grounds. Great wifi right out onto the beach, too. Just take note of two things: Be up and ready to grab a pool chair no later than 5:40 AM. Expect a limited and smaller buffet to be available, compared to other resorts. Apart from those two inconveniences, this place is worth booking. Enjoyed the à la carte restaurants, especially the Asian one.

    “Our 3rd visit”

    This was our third visit to the Royal Hideaway. As always- the service at the beach and pool was impeccable! Gennaro Ek, Javier Batun, Daniel Pat and Luis Domeniguez are amazing! Not only did they remember us, they go out of their way to make sure we did not want for anything. And they always have smiles on their faces! They are they are the main reason we have returned annually for the past 3 years!!! Also- Christian, the manager at the Grill for breakfast and lunch is one of the hardest workers I have seen! He is the utmost professional, and in the course of 45 minutes we noticed him seating guests,serving food, bussing tables, setting tables, and checking in the kitchen. All with a smile, a greeting and a kind word! We have read other reviews that said he should run the resort- we agree!!!! The beach is pristine- soft white sand and no coral in the water, we were pleasantly surprised to see the sargassum was gone! We have been to other resorts further south in Riviera Maya and their beaches cannot begin to compare with the Royal Hideaway! The change to a bracelet as your room key was the best idea they have come up with!!!! It was so nice not to have to constantly search for your key card. Great idea!!!! This said, we did have a problem with the initial room we were assigned. We were out in building 22, which was fine. Upon entering our room we immediately noticed that we did not have robes, slippers, or a hair dryer. The scale did not work either. A phone call corrected this, but it is still not what we are accustomed to at this luxury resort. And, that evening I started filling the jacuzzi tub for a bath. It leaked from the bottom all over the bathroom and also into the balcony. After several phone calls and a maintenance worker who realized it could not be fixed immediately, we were told to re-pack everything, leave it in our room and come to the lobby for another room. This was 11:00 p.m. We went to the lobby only to be told that the only room they could put us in was in building 21. That building is adjacent to the neighboring resort’s night club. It is incredibly loud and we told him we did not want that building. As a repeat customer we were offered no other additional consolation other than they would move us the next day. The next day we had to leave the beach at 2:30 and go to the lobby again. We were told we were being moved to building 31, which is a building close to the beach. However, their “upgrade“ is a room that does not include a walk-in closet which we have requested. After some time we were then told our luggage will be moved to building 23 and we were then placed in that building. We were also offered no other consolation or compensation for all of this disruption. At the very least they could have offered a massage or a spa treatment. Our first 24 hours there were spent Unpacking, packing, and unpacking again. After waiting to find out which room we were going to be put in. We understand that issues arise, but we just felt that it could’ve been handled much better. Especiially since we are repeat guests and have brought friends with us twice! The only change we could ask is for a casual buffet dinner so you have the option of not having to get dressed up for the restaurants. Please consider this! You will not be disappointed at the Royal Hideaway!

    “Best Resort Ever!”

    This was absolutely the best resort we have ever been to. I don't even know where to begin! My husband and I stayed in February of this year. When we arrived we were greeted with a cool towel and sparkling wine. Moises checked us in and made the process so easy and seamless (much appreciated after a long travel day). We received small bracelets that acted as our room key. We loved not having to carry a key around and to the beach! The bellman then took us to our room with our bags and gave us a quick overview of the resort as we made it to our villa. He also let us know where everything was in our room and made sure we had everything we needed before we left. Our room was extremely clean and had everything we needed. Cold water and beer/drinks in the fridge and a few snacks. Great wifi in our room (a bit spotty at the beach but that is everywhere). We had a little patio with comfortable chairs. Housekeeping/turn down service came everyday and did a wonderful job. Each building has their own concierge. Samuel Gomez was our concierge for the week and helped us with multiple things through the week from making dinner reservations, arranging our travel back to the airport, stocking our minibar, and just generally making sure we had everything we needed. We actually loved this resort so much that on our last day we decided to change our flights and stay and extra day. Samuel was fantastic with helping us get everything rearranged to stay longer and helping us find the lowest price. The first morning I did get up early to go watch the sunrise and get a spot at the pool. One thing I would recommend is getting up early to get a spot. Many guests go out and take most of the spots at the main pool as early as 6am. However, spots on the beach are easy to come by, and there's always someone from the hotel out there to assist you in finding a spot and moving the chairs where you'd like them. Service at the pool is beyond amazing. You can order pretty much any drink you'd like (top shelf as well). You can also order snacks and lunch if you don't feel like going to the restaurants. Ricardo was our main guy at the pool most days. He always had a smile and kept our drinks filled and cold water bottles coming without us even having to ask. We also had Javier a couple days and he was so friendly and also kept our drinks filled without us even asking. The service here is something that just can't be matched. Most mornings we liked to go to Spices to have breakfast outside. There's a wonderful buffet for breakfast and lunch at The Grill downstairs if you need to get in and out, but we preferred a sit down breakfast. Carla greeted us every morning and afternoon we went there (you can get lunch there as well). She was always so friendly and bubbly which is a nice was to start your day. I've heard some people complain about there only being one restaurant and one buffet for breakfast and lunch, but there are so many choices on the menu you won't be disappointed. And then there's always food service to the beach and pool. If you are staying long enough you should try to visit every restaurant for dinner. Reservations are required for all, but you can email the resort before your arrival to make them, or have your concierge do it for you upon arrival. We loved having reservations because the restaurants were never overly busy, so we had full attention from our server. Our favorite was Palazzo, the Italian restaurant. Eduardo was our server both times, and we were so happy when we got him a second time. He had excellent recommendations on the menu, was attentive, and my wine glass was never empty! We also loved Ventanas. The menu there Mediterranean and a little more exotic. Our server there was Cinar. He was very quick and friendly, and gave perfect recommendations as well. We also went to Azia one night. Hibachi is an option there, but you have to specify on your reservation. We didn't do hibachi but didn't feel like were were missing out. The sushi there was some of the best we've every had. One of our favorite people the resort was Alfonso, our entertainment extraordinaire. You can usually find him by the pool helping with the various games they do, or helping tell people about the various shows they have that night. He would always check in with us to make sure we had something to do and were entertained. There were always shows and things to do at night. He also has great recommendations on things to do off property and restaurants if you choose to leave the resort. If you need something to do, find Alfonso! One thing we noticed at the resort was people not tipping. Please please please tip the workers. They really try so hard to make your stay special. Everyone seems to be fine with American dollars. We tipped a few for room service everyday, 1-2 for drinks everywhere, a few dollars a day for concierge, a few dollars for breakfast and lunch, and usually 10-15 for dinner. We felt like it was the least we could do for the extraordinary service they offer. Overall, this was the most relaxing, beautiful resort we have ever been to. The service and friendliness from the workers is something we haven't experienced at any other resort, and we've been to many, many all inclusive resorts. We loved it so much we couldn't leave and stayed and extra day.

    “Beautiful and restful place”

    We stayed at Royal Hideaway the week of January 18, 2020. We loved the resort. We were in building 28 on top floor. My apologies for not remembering our concierge name as he was extremely helpful. The service and the food was great. My favourite was breakfast as the view is stunning and service is wonderful. This resort is a place to rest. There were limited seats outside the main bar. Suggestion is to expand the seating arrangements and more live band entertainment in the evenings. I found the two main pools to be extremely cold - painful when you first get in the water. I participated in three water aerobics and enjoyed them. We will return.

    “Wonderful and Relaxing vacation”

    This all-inclusive resort was exceptional. The service was excellent. The food and beverages were spectacular. We both felt it was a great value for the money. We will definitely go back. It was an easy one hour ride from the Cancun Airport.
