    “Relaxing Trip With My Wife On Her Birthday”

    I chose this resort for the adults only reason . We flew to San Jose Costa Rica from Tampa FL . Upon arriving , I find out I’m 5 hours away by car/bus . Or 45 minutes by small commuter plane that at that time had no available seats . So by car we went ... $200 was that cost . Got to the resort and it was great , very very friendly staff there 24/7 to assist you . Good trips for extra $$ . But worth it . Good food / buffet and midday snack bar , drinks a plenty ... great pool and pool area . The grounds are very well kept and very pretty . Relaxing and very comfortable rooms and beds . It is expensive for extras .. but dollars are accepted . Next cones the beach , the resort has a beach , nothing I would swim in . And for $12 they have a shuttle to Playa El Coco but from what I saw ... nothing I would swim in either ... so the pool was our only choice .... and we were very happy with it . Even though it was a rough start ... I do recommend this resort .. 5 days all inclusive for $1050.00 was well worth it . Airfare is not too bad either . There are flights to a town called Liberia Costa Rica , go there and it’s only 1/2 hour to the resort by shuttle for about $25 each person .

    “Relaxation”

    My wife and I stayed here for my Birthday July 6-13, 2018. The resort was very pretty and quiet. If you want to be in a place with adults and quiet, this is the place. Although it was a little too quiet for us, it was relaxing. Definitely need more entertainment and activities.

    “Not what we expected:(”

    We arrived here less than 6hours ago and I was so disappointed that I felt that I should write a review asap. Hotel is clean if alitte dated. Check in was more difficult than I have ever experienced. I was told that I must pay for things included in my booking. After being forced to provide my booking information without wifi access;I was confronted again over the second room on the reservation. The rooms were not ready so we went to lunch. Lunch was not special except for the lack of A/C. The high point of our trip this far is Olman the bartender in the lobby bar. Was initially given 2 rooms in buildings 4 and 15. Building 15 is a jitney ride from the main entrance and the stocked mini bar has 2 beers, 2 sodas and 1 bottle of water. Really!!! Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

    “Great Resort!!”

    Great resort but again just need some air movement in the buffet dining room. The overall experience was great and the staff was outstanding. They were all happy to be there and conveyed that in how they interacted with us.

    “The “Issues Hotel” on a twice experience”

    The first time we visited this hotel the room was having problem with the tv and with the shower so we have to call and make them fixed. They fixed but we have to wait for them to get fix. Since it was a minor problem we decided to give a second chance. Even worse! The second time the air condition from room 106 was not cooling so we have to call the tech people to fix it. They came and “fix it” but still the same. (We have to wait 30 minutes for the technical) so on the second time we called again and request a room change and the receptionist refused since the hotel was “full” so they send a second tech person, 20 min after we call coz the air condition wasn’t cooling and 15 min later the lady from reception called to change the room. You are going to a vacation hotel and not to have problems! So we went to dinner and after we move to the other room. As customer we expect to exceed our expectations and to apologize, gift something or do some extra mile. But the room was normal with good air condition and nothing special or any apology. That’s not all!! we are “my barcelo” customers so it supposed that we have a “late check out”. At 12:15pm one of the housekeepers from room 1804 knocked our door with a bad attitude (pointing her finger on the clock) that we should be out at noon and hurrying up because we were late with our check out. Really!?? Is that necessary??? Oh! I forgot one of the ladies from the receptionist at 11:40 am was on the snacks bar asking someone on the phone if room 1804 leave already with the same sense of urgency. That’s not profesional!! I will never come back neither recommend this hotel. The vacations are to have fun, rest, relax and not to have problems with the old equipment from their rooms neither to have issues with the houseekeping.

It does indeed sound from what you describe that some aspects of your stay did not meet our usual standards of service; please accept our sincerest apologies for failing to make your stay with us a perfect moment of relaxation, we sincerely appreciate you taking the time to bring this matter to our attention. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the imperfections you describe in your review, all rooms reserved for new arrivals are per standard double checked by our head of housekeeping to ensure that everything is functional and spotless for our guests, clearly we were not performing to our usual standard on this occasion, for a future occasion, please do not hesitate to contact the reception desk for anything you may need, the team will do its utmost to find an immediate solution for you. We will make sure that the procedure is being reinforced. We regret that it has not been clearly explained that the late check out for the room can be done, as My Barcelo customer, until 2 p.m depending on the occupation,although you had to leave the room at 12:00 p.m., you could continue using the facilities until 2:00 p.m. At Barceló we lay high value on our personnel being guest oriented and welcoming at all times, being fully aware that their interactions with our guests have an enourmous impact on the overall holiday experience in our hotels, therefore we are sincerely sorry to read your comments on the housekeeping service your received and commit to adjust any situation that leads us away from our goal being to make sure our guests feel welcome and attended to at all times.
