    “Second visit”

    Just returned from the hotel after a week. Decided to visit again after last years trip and knowing Occidental had taken over. The food in both Atlantico and the A La Carte restaurant were better this year and food was much warmer. The hotel itself is looking tired and we could not see that any improvements to the rooms or interior had been made since our last visit, which was disappointing. The spa has now opened and is ok - nothing special. We experienced a particularly bad week for weather and although this is not the hotels fault, they are really not geared towards this. The Atlantico Bar was closed due to rain, and Bar Verde (the other bar Royal guests can use) remained closed until 6.30 on the day it rained - all day!! This meant that the only bar we could use was the main hotel bar - which in the bad weather was packed and unfortunately like a wind tunnel - people were actually sat in thick bubble coats! The hotel also leaks everywhere in the rain! The hotel does not have heating in the rooms and we had to ask for additional blankets - which were provided but the rooms were cold! Absolutely nothing to do in hotel in bad weather and no nice areas to sit for Royal Level guests in bad weather.The two main Royal level pools were also being refurbished while we were there and this was not mentioned in any correspondence prior to our trip. Staff were fantastic as last year. Not sure we will return here again - which is a shame because it has great potential.

    “Pleasant hotel by sea but cold.”

    Hotel was OK but had no heating so was cold on this January week. Water in the hot tubs and heated pools would have helped. Not much space in Royal Level - small sports bar, not enough room in restaurants. Nice sea view.

    “Good hotrl shame about the weather”

    The hotel was just not geared up for the weather, rooms and restaurants were cold with nothing much to do, but food and service in the Buffet was very good and the service in the cocktail bar was excellent

    “Cold and wet holiday week”

    We stayed at the hotel during a very cold and wet January week. The hotel was unable to cope with guests wanting to be indoors as it’s buffet restaurant relies on many of the guests eating outside and there were not enough indoor spaces.In addition the outside bar was closed due to the rain. The pool was not heated therefore no one could use it during the week. A second outdoor patio area with pool, hot tub and bar was closed and had been for the previous 2 months despite it being advertised by the hotel. The hotel reception and buffet restaurant had leaks from the heavy rain and there were buckets and towels strewn about everywhere. We asked why our heating in the room was not working as it was very cold and we were told that there was no heating in the hotel so were given an extra quilt for the bed. There was only one bar in the hotel that was warm enough for us not to wear our coats. We appreciate that the weather may have been unusual, but the hotel was totally unable to cope. Even if the weather had been good there is very little to do within walking distance other than sunbathe. We would not stay here in future.

    “Hotel great weather bad”

    Excellent service and room. Food was imaginative and well presented and all staff very good and attentive. However, breakfast coffee was awful. We had rain and some parts of the hotel became very slippery. The a la carte restaurant was very pleasant with small but good menu

    Excellent service and room. Food was imaginative and well presented and all staff very good and attentive. However, breakfast coffee was awful. We had rain and some parts of the hotel became very slippery. The a la carte restaurant was very pleasant with small but good menu
