Excursion to the Lednice – Valtice area.
Excursion to an impressive neo-Gothic castle with splendid gardens. Visit the Neo-Gothic summer residence of the Liechtenstein family, where you can take a stroll through the historic park, have lunch, walk by the lakes around Lednice, visit the Temple of the Three Graces and even head to the top of the Minaret observation tower. At the end of your visit, you can enjoy a spot of wine tasting in the wine cellars located underneath the main Lichtenstein family residence in Valtice palace and later return to Brno.
Additional activities such as a visit to the botanical gardens, a boat excursion along the park’s canals or a carriage ride to Janohrad are available for a supplement. Guests can also enjoy a 5-km excursion to the Minaret (subject to weather conditions).
The full excursion costs €80 per person and includes entrance to the castle, transport and a guided tour. The excursion is available from 1 May to 30 September, on Saturdays only. Visit length: 6 hours, departing at 9.00 and returning at 15.00.
The visit to the wine cellars costs 50 korunas. The price includes a tour and a wine tasting session of three types of wine. Guests may keep the glass as a souvenir.
Villa Tugendhat house-museum.
The home of Greta and Fritz Tugendhat, designed by the architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, is an icon of modern architecture. It is the only example of Modernist Czech architecture and has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Both the structure and the adjoining garden have been restored and returned to their original 1930s appearance. The interiors have been designed with exact replicas of the original furniture. Špilberk Castle
Špilberk Castle was built in the 13th century by the King of Bohemia as his official residence and defence fortress for the royal city of Brno. After World War II, Špilberk became the Municipal Museum of Brno. In 1962 it was declared a national heritage site. The building, which was in ruins, has been recently renovated and reconverted into a castle and one of the city’s tourist landmarks.
Visitors can learn all about the history of the castle and the city and admire the art and architecture of Brno at its exhibitions. During the summer months the castle courtyard comes alive with a series of cultural events. For more information please click here.
