Marine mammal watching
The southwest coast of Tenerife is a privileged spot for watching marine mammals in the wild, as there are colonies of whales and dolphins that live here all year round.
They can be spotted very close to the shore, with Tenerife now the top European destination for watching marine mammals in their natural habitat. You can find up to 21 different species in these waters, ranging from the giant blue whale to the fearsome killer whale. There are two resident populations, tropical whales and bottle-nosed dolphins, which can be spotted almost 80% of the time, with an actual sighting percentage of 100%. An opportunity not to be missed as few places on the planet offer such a large range so close to the hotel. The half a million visitors to our marine mammal colonies every year cannot be wrong.
Masca Trekking
The Barranco de Masca offers a bright, magnificent landscape where exclusive, indigenous flora of incredible beauty flourishes. You will also have time to sample some typical Canary island fare such as fresh goats cheese, cactus juice, local recommended wines, jams and delicious home-made sauces. The descent lasts between 3 and 4 hours. When you get to the beach, enjoy a well-earned swim and relax in the sunshine while you wait for the boat to take you back to Los Gigantes.
Diving
Tenerife is a veritable paradise for "under the sea" holidays thanks to its rich natural sea beds, privileged climate, with temperatures of between 19 and 25 degrees all year round, and a sea that is almost always calm. Sunken shipwrecks, caverns and volcanic caves are an attractive incentive to enjoy this sport in Tenerife. The island boasts a complete network of centres for experienced divers or beginners.
Hiking
The hiking routes in Tenerife offer a vast variety of environments, climates, landscapes and difficulty levels. These trails offer visitors the chance to get to know the island better, to discover the depth of its beauty and to learn about the way of life of its first inhabitants, the Guanches. It was the Guanches that opened up the first routes through the thick subtropical laurel forests or to the nearby farmlands of el Teide.
Fishing
Test your sport fishing skills on the rocky Tenerife coastline. You can choose from various hard-to-catch fish such as white bream, catfish, groupers, etc. The island offers deep-sea fishing, bottom fishing, coastal fishing and electrical reel fishing.
