Museum of Fun & Ice Cream

Address: 10 Avenida Norte, Gonzalo Guerrero, 77720 Playa del Carmen

The name says it all. This family friendly Playa del Carmen ice cream attraction is fun – and there’s ice cream! What more can you ask for? Located adjacent to the equally amazing 3D Museum of Wonders, the recently opened Museum of Fun & Ice Cream is a must-visit for anyone looking to beat the heat. Taking its cues from similar “pop-up” museums that have become trendy in Los Angeles and New York City, the attraction features an array of extremely Instagrammable settings for you to strike a pose. And there’s plenty of ice cream, too, naturally. Whether you want a straightforward cone or an outlandish creation like the Cupshake (combining all the best elements of a cupcake and a milkshake), the Museum of Fun & Ice Cream is going to be a totally sweet experience.

Artik Pop

Address: Paseo del Carmen Shopping Mall, Centro, 77710 Playa del Carmen

The Paseo del Carmen Shopping Mall is one of Playa del Carmen’s best spots for a shopping spree, with brand-name shops, a festive atmosphere and local vendors to browse. All that retail bliss may leave you in need of a chilled-out artisanal treat, however. A visit to Artik Pop is in order, then! Artik Pop, one of the best Playa del Carmen ice cream spots, is a beloved Mexican institution that offers an array of incredibly tasty handcrafted ice cream popsicles, made with natural ingredients. The toughest part of Artik Pop is deciding what flavor you want – there are so many! Pistachio, Dulce de Leche, Mango, Biscotti, Coconut … the list goes on and on. And we haven’t even mentioned the seasonal offerings that “pop” up throughout the year. Whatever you order, one thing is for sure: Artik Pop is summer on a stick.

Each cup is deliciously creamy, dazzlingly flavorful and perfectly crafted. Be forewarned: once you’ve tried one Amorino flavor, you’ll want to try another … and another!

Ah Cacao

Address: 5th Avenue between 38th and 40th Streets, Playa del Carmen

Ah Cacao, another shop located on the buzzing Playa del Carmen 5th Avenue (AKA Quinta Avenida), isn’t just about ice cream. As its name suggests, chocolate is the name of the game here, with an amazing selection of treats for chocoholics, not to mention fresh-roasted coffee and expertly made baked goods (don’t miss the brownies!). But if you’re looking for ice cream, Ah Cacao won’t disappoint. Here, you’ll find some of the very best Playa del Carmen ice cream. It’s made with the utmost care, using local ingredients and raw cacao. The results are remarkable, delivering an amazing creaminess and a distinctive flavor. As you might guess, the chocolate ice cream here is to die for. Simple and spectacular.

Amo Gelato

Address: Av. CTM manzana 002, Lote 009, local 3, región 28, SM 28 77712, Playa del Carmen

Amo Gelato’s handcrafted offerings take ice cream back to the source! Their gelato is made the traditional Italian way – and you can tell when you stick your spoon in for a bite. It’s thick and creamy, made with 100 percent natural ingredients. You can stick with the classic flavors – vanilla, chocolate, lemon and more. Or you can be a little more adventurous and try some more outlandish varieties like Ferrero chocolate or banana split. Either way, Amo will make you fall in love with gelato all over again.

Bertoni Gelato

Address: Calle Quinta Avenida Mz 04 Lt 07 Entre Calle 34 y Calle 38, Centro, 77710 Playa del Carmen

More gelato? If you’re like us, you can’t get enough of the stuff. And gelato just goes perfectly with Playa del Carmen’s colorful Riviera Maya ambiance. Another option is Bertoni Gelato, located right in the heart of Playa. Here, you’ll taste some of the best gelato in all of Mexico, with all the flavors you want. But you may also want to try another frozen Mexican delicacy here – Agua de Sandia, or Watermelon Water. This refreshing beverage is made using blended watermelon and sugar. It’s an ideal summer sip to cool you off during your Playa del Carmen adventures.

Playa del Carmen ice cream is a great option year-round if you and your family are in need of a frozen treat. Enjoy!
