    “It has been several years since I have been back.”

    The resort seems just like it was the last time I was here. Clean, friendly workers and mediocre food. The only place where the food is above mediocre is the Royal club restaurant. As usual, this is a good resort if you want quiet and a decent beach. And if your a diver, you can dive right from the resort. This was my 9th trip to this resort over the last 10 years.

    “Cash Users Beware”

    We have stayed at this resort 10 times and 12 nights is our typical length of stay. This is a quiet, relaxing resort with friendly, hard working staff. The beach is nice, with plenty of fish so snorkeling is a very pleasant activity. We always tip bartenders, housekeeping and wait staff so we have money for tips, excursions, resort gift shop, etc. in the safe in our room. During our stay in January 2018 I found money missing from our room safe and I did not know the exact amount taken, less than $200. I did not report this to management. During our stay in January 2019 money was again taken from our room safe and this time I know the exact amount, two 50 dollar bills and one 20 dollar bill. This is a small amount of money and it is a shame we will not return to a fun resort as a result of the thefts. The January 2019 theft was reported to management and in a management response it stated that electronic surveillance equipment indicated no unauthorized entry to the safe. This is unfortunate because this means thefts from room safes at this quiet, relaxing and fun resort are likely to continue.

    “Another great trip to the Occidental Royal Level”

    As always the service is great. Emma at the front desk is very helpful and fulfilled all our requests. La Carretta, the Royal Level restaurant continues to serve delicious fare. Breakfast and lunch are wonderful, especially the grilled salmon at lunch. The dinners did not measure up to previous years. I had looked forward to the seafood soup, but this year it was thin and not filled with the various seafood as it had been in past years. One shrimp and one piece of octopus was rather skimpy. The wait staff at LaCarretta continues to be friendly, courteous, and excellent. The other three restaurants, which are open to all Occidental guests, continue to serve fine food. The beef tenderloin and garlic shrimp at the Sonora were especially good. The only drawback to the Sonora was the noise level. It was very loud and not conducive to conversation. Our room was spacious and kept clean by the staff. Towels and toiletries were plentiful. Water and coffee were constantly replaced. The only fault was that the refrigerator was not restocked with drinks and snacks. In past years, I complained about the lack of quality entertainment in the evening. That has changed. The entertainment staff does a marvelous job and there was a show or live music every evening. The entertainment staff is on duty from early morning til late night and yet never seem to run out of energy. They go a long way to making the vacation experience great. The beach could use some more lounges. In order to get a seat it is necessary to get to the beach early. On most days, everything is taken by 10:00. Some have complained that the drinks are rather weak. Our family sees that as a plus in that we can consume a lot of liquid, required in the hot weather, without suffering the affects of too much alcohol. To summarize, the experience provided by the staff is fantastic. The resort may be small and the facilities somewhat outdated, but the staff makes the experience unforgettable.

    “Nice facilities in a wonderful setting”

    This was my first time at the Occidental Cozumel. I enjoyed the experience and especially appreciated the rooms, pool facilities and grounds. The food in the restaurants was fairly good but the buffet was just average and lacking variety. Drinks seemed to be watered down and varied tremendously based on what bar you used. Weather was beautiful and the staff was pleasant and helpful.

    “Another wonderful week at Occidental Cozumel”

    It was our 5th visit with my husband and parents. We always stay in the Royal Club and it is well worth it. You can always get a chair around the pool, a la carte breakfast & lunch, and clean, large, beautiful rooms with comfortable beds. I would request a non first floor room so the balcony is more enjoyable. I’ve read reviews about the birds at 6am and 6pm, it’s totally true but what are you going to do? Roll over and embrace the island sounds. The ladies at the Royal Club check in made it quick & easy. Our bags were brought to our rooms, wifi included (which was an above average signal throughout the resort- seemed to be strongest at the beach?), and were attentive to any needs throughout the week- thank you! Dinner service at La Caretta was always a relaxing and enjoyable experience- great food, nice atmosphere & personal service. A special thank you to Tomas, Rogelio, Carlos and Miguel in La Caretta. You were all very attentive and made our week so special. The grounds are well kept, the beach and sunsets are breathtaking and the traditional decor around the small resort makes it feel like home. A few years ago when visiting there seemed to be a lot more evening entertainment, specifically live music. However our last visit there didn’t seem to be much going on it was very quiet everywhere in the resort after the nightly show was finished, which we never go to anyways. When I completed a survey after a visit I expressed the missing of live music in the evenings. My husband and I were so surprised and thrilled to have several opportunities throughout the week to catch some live music! Drinks, cards and music in the lobby bar was one of our favourite parts of the week. Thank you for taking customer feedback into consideration! Overall we had a great time & we can’t wait to come back and see you all again!
