    “Good little hotel!”

    Went for a week with family members - had looked at hotels in area - this one seemed to have a very nice beach so we opted for this. As a starter I would note to people that this is a time share hotel - First Club is what they call themselves. I am saying this as nowhere is this advertised and the Air Canada rep at the airport warned us before they dropped us off and indicated that they would be pushing us to buy. So - that never happened!!!! No one ever asked us anything or prompted us or lured us into any meeting or visit - so do not worry about that. I will note one thing and this is important - in looking for the hotel I of course looked at this site and other sites and saw rooms with balconies overlooking the pacific ocean and on certain sites they were advertised as 'club level room'. I did not dream this up and I researched this as I paid a bit more for a club room. On arrival as we had club level room we were taken to the 7th floor lobby and checked in easy as pie with a glass of champagne. Our concierge also booked us restaurants for the week and took note that we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and a birthday - Great - holidays off to a good start!!! We were given keys to our room and sent on our way to check them out - our luggage would follow. Then we opened the door to our room - while I will say the view was impressive - view of the pacific wonderful - balcony - NOT - non-existent - go over to my siblings room - same thing - disappointment for all. While I will not describe the back and forth I had with the Club concierge and the Hotel concierge - after a lot of discussion and a day later I was able to have us move to the first floor rooms where you have a patio door and a walk-out with either view of pool/ocean or garden - either one - they are very nice. What they did confirm is that yes there are rooms with balconies BUT they are only available for what they call 'owners' ie timeshare owners. Other than that we were off to a good start. The resort itself is small - about 300 rooms and I do believe we were in low season as there was very little people there. The rooms and the grounds are beautiful - everything is spotless. The food is very very good - very fresh - the food at the club restaurant was AMAZING both in presentation and in taste - I would recommend paying the extra fee for a club room - amenities are worth it - restaurant reservations - access to the club - its restaurant and the club bar at the pool was outstanding. Best places to order drinks! Buffet was great - good selection - always fresh. Italian restaurant was very good - Mexican was very good for lunch - ok for dinner - buffet always better. We ate at the Japanese restaurant - it was ok but not great. The hotel is rated from a 4 to a 4.5 at different sites - I would give it a 4. While the food was very very good - the drinks outside the Club bar leave somewhat to be desired and the wine is not very good - not at all. There is a wine list - half of wines listed were not available but again I believe it was low season. However the list is very very reasonably price but again when you go to an all inclusive I expect that they should have a decent house wine - this was not the case. Bubbly was good but sweet - but good - great for mimosas for the morning. It is a very nice little hotel - very very family oriented - lots of kids so great for families and the staff go out of their way to accommodate and ask if we need something. Highly recommend it!

    “I just can’t say enough good things about this resort!”

    The service is exceptional, and the food is fabulous for an all-inclusive resort. The specialty restaurants, especially Tokyo, are delicious and accommodating. The buffets have the tastiest and largest varieties of food of any all-inclusive I’ve ever seen. Several staff members are so deserving of recognition: Jocelin in First Club went out of her way several times to be sure that everything was perfect. Fernando (PeeWee Augustin Lotzo) at the pool bar was always bringing us specialty drinks and kept our cups full of delicious cocktails. Erik at the breakfast buffet, along with two other servers in both restaurants, Paol, and Perla, were efficient, friendly, and always smiling. The spa girls, Lupita and Daisy, give unbelievable massages! My family of six was so well-treated, and we can’t wait to go back! Thank you for a perfect vacation!

    “Loved the resort, friendly staff”

    My family and I are First Club members through Occidental and have travelled to many other Occidental properties in several countries. Puerto Vallarta is the best!!! Beautiful beaches, tons to do at the hotel, great excursions, etc. Jocelyn from First Club is the best to work with, always smiling and so helpful. Erik, his partner Paul, and Perla are the nicest restaurant staff, always working hard and so nice to talk to. They even let us practice our Spanish with them! The food and specialty restaurants are amazing. Great staff and a great hotel. Will definitely be back!

    “Excelente!”

    Fiquei uma semana de Dezembro no Occidental Gran Nuevo Vallarta e foi simplesmente otimo! Pontos positivos: Comida, funcionarios, atracoes, facilidades. Pontoso negativos: piscina pequena, wifi que e gratuito e muito ruim, os restaurantes tem uns horarios que as vezes dificulta quando da fome mas nao tem comida. Mas os pros sao bem melhores que os contras. Vale a pena.
