    “A luxurious break...”

Writing this on our final evening listening to live music from our balcony after a luxurious and relaxing four-night stay. A lovely facility with wonderful architecture, clean and spacious rooms, a variety of on-site facilities and very accommodating staff. The suite rooms all face the coast, looking out over the pool and ground floor restaurant. Rooftop bar/pool/restaurant, gym, spa (extra cost) plus the further restaurants, pool and shops in adjoining Corales Suits all give a wide range of options on site. Our compliments to Antonio on the rooftop bar, highly entertaining! There are some bars and restaurants only two minutes walk away at the beach front (the beach itself is pleasant but not the main attraction). On site food is superb Downsides - not many. Choose a taxi to the airport over the shuttle service which is a lot more expensive Highly recommended for winter sun and lazy days by the pool.

“Lovely hotel but service is a bit hit and miss”

Location: Approx 20-25 mins from Tenerife South airport in the town of La Caleta. La Caleta is quite quiet but it’s only a short drive to Playa de las Americas. 11km walk if you’re feeling energetic! Hotel: The hotel opened this year. The building is fantastic: modern, luxurious and deserving of an award or two for design. The hotel is really two hotels in one: Royal Hideaway Corales Suites (RHCS) for families and Royal Hideaway Corales Beach (RHCB) for adults only. If you’re staying in RHCB you can use all the facilities at RHCS. Hotel grounds: The gardens are young but very well maintained, give them a couple of years and they’ll look really good. There are golf buggies to help move guests around the hotel if required. Reception: Welcome was warm and friendly. The reception area at RHCS is stunning as it incorporates a rocky outcrop. The reception at RHCB by comparison is rather small and feels like a bit of an afterthought. Rooms: The rooms definitely have the “wow” factor. They are spacious, comfortable and have a luxurious bathroom with the bath in the bedroom. We had a large balcony with a sea view and plenty of room for two sun loungers and a table and chairs. Plenty of wardrobe space, a huge TV, decent fridge which actually cools drinks and a coffee maker (Lavazza pods if you want to bring your own.). Huge 2.2m bed which was very comfortable and a pillow menu. There are a variety of rooms available for families. The higher the room the better the view. Pools: Various pools available. Adults only pool in the garden which had sufficient sun loungers (the hotel wasn’t full when we visited but the pool area did fill up by lunchtime.) The pool was gently heated and very pleasant for swimming. Pool service was really hit and miss, it could take ages to catch their attention to get a drink or order food. Just getting a menu could take a repeated requests. Rooftop adults only infinity pool: great views from the top floor but the sun loungers were very close to one another. The pool was heated. Family pool: There was one pool at RHCS which wasn’t busy whilst we were there. Each pool had a pool bar area for food and drinks. Restaurants: Breakfast was served in the buffet restaurants and had a good range of hot and cold food. Much of the hot food was cooked to order. We found that there were queues for breakfast by 9am. In a hotel like this there shouldn’t really be queues for meals and the process for checking guests in and seating people needs to be changed. Service at breakfast was a bit hit and miss: some staff were great, others were possibly still being trained. There’s no point giving out an a la carte breakfast menu if no one comes to take the order! Dinner in the buffet restaurants was fine but very similar every evening with the same fruit/cold meats/cheeses/breads as breakfast with the addition of stir fried veg, pasta and a fried meat/fish/poultry option. The ingredients were all good quality and nicely presented. There are a variety of a la carte restaurants: San Ho is a Peruvian Japanese fusion restaurant. We tried the tasting menu which was interesting with lots of tiny plates of beautifully prepared food. Service was excellent. Starfish is a steak and fish restaurant. Fresh lobster available. There is a new Italian restaurant in RHCS which we tried. The pizzas are good but the deconstructed tiramisu was a disaster, no one wants a large bowl of cold espresso with bits of biscuit floating around!! There are other restaurants which we didn’t try. (There are several restaurants a short stroll from the hotel which are also worth trying.) Beach: The hotel is not a beachfront hotel but there is a beach close by with black gritty sand which has sun loungers and umbrellas. There is a good golden sandy beach at Playa del Duque about 20-30 minutes walk along the promenade. Spa: A very nice spa with a range of treatments at prices you’d expect in a 5 star hotel. There is also a good gym and small spa pool. A hairdresser and nail bar also available. Shops: The hotel has a few shops: watch and jewellery shop, ladies clothes and shoe shop, swimwear shop, art gallery and a general store which sells magazines, sun lotion, tampax etc. It’s quite pricey compared to the mini market outside the hotel. Kids Club: Available. Disabled Access: Access is good with plenty of ramps, handrails and disabled rooms which are suitable for wheelchair users. The main adult pool also has a hoist to lower disabled guests into the water. Wifi: Free throughout the hotel, it was simple to use and worked everywhere. The hotel was spotlessly clean and staff were friendly and helpful. This is a really good hotel. We just had a few minor issues with service which I’m sure were down to staff inexperience. If you want a luxury hotel in a quieter area this is definitely for you.

This is a gorgeous Hotel stunning view, staff wonderful, he. Gym no daily classes, hairdressers and nail bar onsite and adults only. The only critism I have is that the Bar snacks and drinks are very over priced, so be careful when adding things to your room as you could end up with a bit of a shock. Also do not use there transfer cars to and from the airport €180 return, a taxi would cost you €40 each way.
