    “Fantastic Beaches and Pool Service”

We enjoyed the beaches and pool service immensely. Food selection was decent at the buffets, but go a la carte for sure - avoid the fish restaurant (Coral). The French, Japanese, and Steakhouse Restaurants were our favorite, although the 19th Hole was also quite good. Be prepared to spend $$$ if you want to use your Wi-Fi though. All in all - I would definitely go back.

    “A great stay !”

We stayed at this hotel the last week of September, in a Premium level room and had overall an excellent stay ! Staying in a Premium Level room is worth it, on top of all the advantages it offers, the dedicated check in counter is very pleasant. You get to seat down in air conditioning, and have a drink while you wait for the staff to be ready for you. The staff was always very helpful, wether to deal with restaurant bookings, or any other queries we had during our stay. We were given a room in the first building, with a great view of the beach and of the sea. I would strongly recommend picking a sea facing room, the view is well worth it. The room was spacious, clean, and nicely equipped. The staff bring big bottles of water in the room every day which helps stay hydrated. The bed was unlike anything we have ever seem !! Looked like 2 king beds put together but it was actually a single mattress. Bathroom was clean as well, and restocked with fresh towels twice a day. We had a little bit of noise coming from the central bar in the evenings, but never too late so it was never a problem. The resort itself is absolutely immaculate. The grass is perfectly cut, coconuts are being picked up by the staff constantly, a big congratulations to the team that keep it looking so nice for the guests. The pool area is very pleasant. Loads of sun loungers available, and the water temperature is really good. Gets a bit loud in the end of afternoons and when they are having animations in the pool area, but once again it never lasts too long. We spent most of our time at the beach, which is one the most beautiful beach we have ever visited. Once again plenty of sun beds to chose from (no need to wake up at stupid o'clock to book one). It is true there is no parasols available, but my tip is to place yourself near a small palm tree. The tree will actually create a very nice shade especially when the sun is high in early afternoon ! Some people mentioned the see weeds... First of all it is cleaned twice daily (around 13:00 and in the evening), and the beach looks great. A big congratulations to the guys that walk up the beach for 2 hours cleaning everything in the heat at the beginning of the afternoon !! We noticed that the see weed problem is "worse" after a windy day... Probably it gets pushed ashore. But it was never an issue for us, and at the end of the day it's the sea so the fact that there is maybe a bit more see weed than normal is nothing really extraordinary. The breakfast buffet is varied and overall tasty. Special thank you to the lady making the fresh crepes in the morning ! All restaurants for lunch are buffets, and offer a very nice choice. Quality is sometimes medium/poor (for European standards) and day after day it gets repetitive, but probably due to the quantity and diversity of what's on offer. With regards to restaurants for the evening, my first tip is to book it as early as possible in your stay, and plan it precisely. That may be one of the only things I would advise the hotel to correct: the booking system. It's quite strict, and closes everyday at 18:00. Changes are also difficult to make as after a while everything gets booked out and you're left with either the first or last service. So as long as you've made up a plan and stick to it you're good ! The first evening we visited the Caribbean Buffet restaurant which was nice but nothing special. We then went on to try the Mexico Lindo at the Bavaro Palace. The food was not very good at all, restaurant was quite loud. Over all we would not recommend it. The seafood restaurant, El Coral, still in the Bavaro Palace, was once again nothing special. You have a buffet to choose your starter, and then a main. The lobster we had was nice, but not very tasty and quite dry. And the floor was very very slippery ! The Spanish restaurant, La Fuente, once again in the Bavaro Palace, was actually quite pleasant. We had some tasty hot and cold tapas, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was really nice. The Dolce Vita, Italian restaurant in the Bavaro Palace, was also good. Back at the Bavaro Beach, we tried the Brisa restaurant in the evening, which is a la carte, and had a great time ! Tasty food and a nice atmosphere by the beach. Last but not least, the Chez Gourmet which was delicious, and where we would definitely recommend a visit. Bar wise the choice of alcohol is good, and cocktails very tasty. I recommend a visit to the Piña bar where you can get (for a small charge) a cocktail in either a coconut or a pineapple. Finally the staff. A massive thank you to everyone as you made our stay absolutely incredible. Every member of staff is friendly, welcoming, and clearly wants you to spend a memorable stay. We found most of the other guests to be rather rude and not very well mannered in comparison. For example the lady making crepes at breakfast is not supposed to be doing anything else but to prepare 1 crepe for you, choosing one of the spreads placed in front of her. Yet people ask her rather rudely to find a way to chop fruits and other things, to place in the 2-3 crepes they want while a massive queue forms behind them. But once again the woman was always polite and never said anything. So once again a very big thank you to all the staff for your kindness ! To conclude we had an absolutely amazing stay, in a great resort, where the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. We would strongly recommend this resort to anyone wanting to stay in Punta Cana, and will definitely return !!

    “Nice location , poor service”

Good location, poor service. Upon arrival to Barcelo Bavaro beach adults only hotel my first thoughts were that it looks like a very nice resort. Everything is clean and well-kept. However, things changes upon checking in to the hotel. The group I was with wanted to upgrade to a junior suite with hot tub in the balcony and it was actually advertised on their monitor need the reception desk. When I asked the receptionist she immediately dismissed the idea. She did not even bother to check out anything. Nevertheless, I understood if there were no junior suite rooms available. After check-in was completed they call the bell hopper and you really don’t have a choice to bring your own lags to the room as the bell hoppers expect tips for bringing you to your room. Upon first entry into the ocean view room it was a generous size however, there was a musty smell to the room probably due to lack of air filter change. Overall the room was in good condition with good views of the ocean. Now this is where the poor service is presented. The Buffett is included and make sure you do not wear any tank tops as that is NOT allowed in the Buffett. For the sit down restaurants you need to make reservations in advance. Please be advised that some of the restaurants require a cover charge. So that night we decided to go to the La Barisa restaurant which is right on the beach, exclusive to the adults only section. Dress code was casual. Upon arriving tot he hostess desk we stood there for a good 5 minutes and not one of the 5 or more staff came over to assist us. We had to actually go get someone and were told you have to wait 5 more minutes for us to help as we don’t open until 1900. So at about 1915 we went back to the hostess station to be seated. The hostess came over to us with a “smirk”on her face and with an attitude looked at myself and grandfathers food and said you cannot wear flip flops here. We were confused as we were not told that when booking and it is a restaurant that is ON THE BEACH, which makes it difficult to wear dress shoes. Additionally, there were others in there that had flip flops on ... so was not clear as to why we were refused. When we started to walk away she said well maybe you can come..... so we were confused either we can or cannot wear flip flops. We decided to just go to the Buffett. After eating at the Buffett we went to guest services and it is difficult to get your point across due to language barriers. However, we finally got the agent to understand our issue. She called over to the restaurant and said “oh , you were wearing flip flops “. We stated that other were wearing them as well so why were we treated rudely? The agent said , “well maybe she is new .”She was not new at all. We cancelled the remaining reservations for all the restaurants for the week as we did not want to be subjected to such rude service. Next, I usually only drink grey goose vodka as it is the only one I can tolerate and IT IS ON THE MENU for an additional change ( which I was MORE then happy to pay)... the bar tender claimed she didn’t know what I was talking about and there is no grey goose. Then she said on it is not included. I said that I understood the additional cost and was willing to pay. She could not tell me where to get grey goose even though it was on the menu. This was very frustrating and no matter which bar I went to they all said another one has it but could not tell me which one. Next, for the pool you need to use the orange pool towels. However, you MUST get them first from your room and then when wet exchange them. WE NEVER GOT ORANGE POOL TOWELS IN OUR ROOM. We went to guest services multiple times to ask for them and we just received face towels and were told you have the towels in your room. No one could understand that we NEVER received them. Finally after FOUR days of speaking with guest services we finally got the orange pool towels. It was a nightmare just to get towels. They kept telling us that they are in your room and they could not get it that we never got them at all. Overall the food at the Buffett was pretty decent. Due to all the frustration and poor service we got the French restaurant free of charge ( but I had to sign a document stating that I would not complain anymore before they would give it....) The French restaurant was actually pretty good. The Casino is advertised everywhere but is actually very small with outdated machines. There is not much to do at this resort besides beach and pool unless you want to pay of overpriced excursions. It was nice that all the water served was from water bottles. The toilet in the room ran constantly and leaked all the time and the shower temperature would never maintain a constant temperature. It would either go to very hot or cold so it was difficult to even take a shower. There is a tram that will take you throughout the resort to the main shopping area. I did get a massage at the USPA. My first impression was poor as I was greeted as if I was a bother and did not feel welcomed at all. The massage therapist did give good massage. However, due to the poor service I did not return. Final impression: Poor customer service, overall rude and not welcoming. Rooms do need be updated, musty smell and poorly functioning toilet and shower. Very disorganized Good quality food in Buffett and in the French restaurant Nice location and nice pool Beach has ample beach chairs for use and is included Very limited selection of alcohol (even if you want to pay more for the alcohol that is not included but is on the menu I.e, grey goose vodka) Americans please note this resort is tailored more towards Europeans. If you do not have WiFi included with your rate it is expensive. Make sure you have enough “formal”clothes for the restaurants or you will be refused (rudely). Smoking is allowed all over, so if you do not like smoke this may not be the resort for you. Casino is limited and machines outdated. Tip the waitresses for alcohol and you will get better service. Hopefully this will help with your resort search. I will never be returning to this resort. I could not wait for the vacation to be over that’s how bad the service was.

    “Very nice place”

The resort is very nice and most of the staff is very friendly but you can tell that some of the staff just hate their life. The pool is amazing and the water is great. Didn't get much sleep due to the people above us stomping around and moving furniture all day and all night. They have a train that takes you to other parts of the resort. The food isn't the greatest if you're a picky eater, spent most of our time looking for better food, but the hot chocolate is probably the best I've ever had. The presidente beer is really good and tastes like bud light. It's hard to understand the staff because they're not very good at English. Got a massage by the pool which was amazing. We did the monkey land and dolphin explorer which I strongly recommend. We had monkeys jumping on us and eating from us and got a lot of once in a lifetime photos. We kissed and danced with a gorgeous dolphin and had it jump over us and even got a ride holding on it it's fin, once again got many once in a lifetime photos. Overall a great trip
