    “Gorgeous!”

This is one of the nicest all inclusive holidays I've been on. The weather was a bit disappointing but our room was stunning and the location is fabulous. The staff were so friendly and attentive. They were genuinely happy to serve you and clearly happy to work in the hotel.

    “Excellent Relaxing Stay”

This is a really lovely luxurious hotel to stay in and you can see how fresh it is after the refurbishment. We had a lovely warm welcome with Cava and a porter took our bags and showed us to our room, providing a voucher for the nearby duty free shop and explained where the facilities were in the hotel on the way. We found the staff were very friendly and willing to help, the room was cleaned to a high standard and the bed was huge and really comfortable-a medium firm mattress with a foam topper. As I suffer from back problems it was great to stay in a hotel with a comfortable bed for once it really added to my holiday! We especially enjoyed the ambiance of the B-Lounge. The waiters were friendly and personable and made great cocktails and mocktails from an extensive menu. The room looked great and had comfortable seating. We really liked the live music that was on some evenings and only wish there had been music here every evening. Myself and my husband are both gluten intolerant and have to highly commend the chef Antonio, who every evening, no matter how busy he was, showed us which dishes we could have. He also personally made us chips and brought desserts to us. On one evening when we couldn't find Antonio and asked another member of staff what was safe, my husband was glutened so we learned our lesson after that and asked Antonio. It is also possible to have gluten free pizza and pasta prepared for the evening if requested in the morning but there is usually plenty of gluten free food available in the evening anyway and it is on the whole very nice. The sushi chef was also very helpful in telling us which sushi did not contain soy sauce and one time when the couple in front of us used the same pair of tongs on every platter, he without prompting asked for our plate and cut us up fresh uncontaminated sushi. We found lunch to be less easy. For lunch there is an a la carte menu at the Breeze Bar and the Champs Bar, however there were only about 3 options that were marked as gluten free on each. The first time we ordered a gluten free dish we were brought a chicken breast coated in breadcrumbs which we queried and the correct dish was prepared. We found it difficult it eat healthily for lunch because every dish we could have seemed to involve a lot of cheese! Having said that, by the end of the holiday we found that the kitchen was flexible in letting us choose elements from different dishes as we were all inclusive. Breakfast was good. Gluten free bread was available with a dedicated toaster. There were gluten free muffins, biscuits, donuts, left over cake from the desserts the night before, lactose free yoghurt and milk and dairy free milk options. It would have been nice if there were gluten free cereal available. I thought it was ironic that this section was labelled "healthy corner" though, considering the amount of sweet treats available for breakfast. It would have been nice if the cakes, donuts etc were available for dinner or afternoon tea as we found there wasn't really anywhere at the hotel to get a snack during the day. One area of concern was the touch screen at the entrance to the restaurant which showed the dishes for each day and the allergens. You have to click on the applicable allergen and it shows you which dishes contain that ingredient. We found this unusual as really you would want to know which to avoid. However more worrying was the fact that it wasn't remotely accurate. In dishes we knew would contain gluten eg crackers, bread etc gluten wasn't listed as an allergen, also in some of the dishes that the chef had told us to avoid it wasn't listed either. I think it would be better not to have allergens listed on the touch screen if they can't be relied on to be correct. The host who welcomed us into the restaurant every evening was great, really funny and enthusiastic about the special dishes for that evening. We looked forward to his welcome. We found the entertainment each evening was of quite a good standard but it was very loud in the Champs lounge and got increasingly louder during the week so we could hear it in our room when we didn't go a couple of evenings despite the fact we were in the far side of the hotel. The singing groups that we saw were good but we wish a bit more had been made of the entertainment, especially as the Champs lounge and the stage is quite small. It didn't really feel like an event and only lasted an hour. We didn't mind too much as we had come for a relaxing holiday but if we had wanted entertaining we feel that we would have been a little bored. We had a beautiful deluxe room with a tub, we specifically asked for a room with a tub inside as it is basically a whirlpool/jacuzzi bath rather than a hot tub. So as I like to have a bath I didn't want to be overlooked on the balcony. As we read in another review this can cause the room to be damp and although the room didn't feel damp there was some mildew on the wallpaper behind the bedside table and the bed. The jacuzzi bath was big enough for 2 people and was amazing. It felt very decadent to have a soak in such a luxurious bath. The room was compact and stylish with a balcony which was very overlooked but felt a bit more private because it had a wall around it rather than a glass screen which some other rooms had (we were on the 2nd floor). There are some very minor areas for improvement to the facilities in the room that, I feel if sorted, could just raise the bar that bit higher with the facilities in the room, at little expense to the hotel: I would have loved a small desk or corner table for sitting at, for doing my make up, writing postcards or playing cards at, or as somewhere to put a kettle as space is limited to the counter by the sink which is taken up with toiletries and the coffee machine. The weather was not particularly great for sitting on the balcony often and I feel this would have been more useful than a chaise lounge. The wardrobe had a shelf halfway down across the whole width of the wardrobe which prevented hanging dresses and was a bit of a waste of space. This would be so much better if it was removed or just over half the wardrobe. Also the room came with a Lavazza Blue coffee pod machine but there were no instructions! I read on other reviews that several visitors had a problem with their machine not working. We had a similar problem and my husband sorted it out by googling the issue and found that the tray needs emptying after 8 pods have been used. This must be done while the machine is still on and the tray has to be removed for more than 5 seconds or else it won't register as being emptied. If there was an instruction sheet for this it would be so much easier. We asked for a kettle as we drink mainly tea and this was provided. We also found it impractical that the only bin in our room was a tiny bin in the bathroom and quite often we had empty water bottles lined up in there, however on our last day when we came back to our room we found a thoughtful cleaner had provided an extra waste paper basket. We just wondered why this doesn't come as standard in the room. We also would have liked to have seen some information about the Spa in the room. We never got round to going as we aren't really spa people on the whole but might have been tempted if we could have seen pictures of the swimming pool and facilties etc but we found the website didn't really give us much idea of what it looked like inside or what was available. There just seemed to be lots of pictures of the treatment rooms. We also didn't try the infinity pool or the other swimming pool as the water was too cold. We noticed only a couple of other people tried the infinity pool during our stay, it seemed to be for show really as it was really small and very overlooked which was off putting. The other pool had a nicer atmosphere and we sat around the pool on the comfortable cabana beds to relax. There is limited parking at the hotel but this is not really a problem as there are several free parking areas nearby. We found the best place to park was Calle de Galleta which is a convenient side road off the hotel. So overall a very comfortable relaxing stay, great staff, good food and good for those with dietary requirements, but could be a little bit more exciting.

“Oasis of calm in sunny Lanzarote”

Returned from a brilliant stay (as a solo traveller) at Barceló Teguise Beach. The hotel is spotlessly clean, nicely laid out and with simple yet very stylish décor. Staff friendly and approachable - the restaurant staff in the morning and evening were particularly effusive and pleasant. I upgraded my room (at extra cost) to a sea view room just before my stay, and I'm glad I did as the view was lovely and calming. The room was comfortable, spotless and very welcoming on arrival each day after being cleaned. Sunbeds are packed quite tightly around the pool area which did not present much of a problem as I travelled out of season in early January, though I can imagine it would become quite congested during warmer months. Pool area as it was, very calming and peaceful - people reading, chatting etc. I also used the spa and booked in for a lovely massage which I'd recommend. The buffet was extraordinary in every sense - both at breakfast and in the evening, there was such a varied and extensive amount of food on offer. I've seen other reviews comment on the chaotic nature of the buffet - and while it's true that the food experience was fairly overwhelming on the first couple of nights (due to the sheer volume of what's on offer) - I'd say after getting used to the layout, it was great to walk around and sample the variety. Two very small pointers in the true spirit of feedback: there was just one bin in my room, and this was in the toilet itself. It might be an idea to place an additional small bin in the room, for convenience? And the locks on the reception / foyer area toilets were difficult to work out (maybe that's just me!?) - would be easier with simpler locks. However, these are very minor points in what was otherwise a fabulous stay at a brilliant hotel.

    “Fabulouse Hotel.”

Barcelo certainly know how a hotel should be run and this is a Gem. Super welcome and excellent service throughout our stay. Very modern and spotlessly clean all through this very nice hotel. Room was perfect with a sea view and hot tub on the balcony. We chose this hotel as it is adults only and we wanted peace and quiet. The food was endless with buffet breakfast in the main restaurant and dinner, with a choice of lunch in a super pool restaurant or the sporting bar on the sea front underneath the hotel, Champs. You could also have your evening meal in the sporting bar too. We were on an All inclusive deal and All the food was to a high standard considering that the hotel is catering for up to 6oo guests maybe 1500 meals a day super quality and a big thank you to the catering staff. Pools looked wonderful but too cold for us at this time of the year. Very nice guests staying here and mainly brits who appreciated the quality and quietness of this hotel. Very friendly throughout and the staff always on the go and very helpful. Wonderful location for the beach but if I had one complaint, sea view rooms mainly face east so ,as has been noted before on trip advisor, little or no sun on these balconies.( To be fair , the wonderful hotel staff did offer a change of room to a sunny balcony and wanted us to be happy, but I do like to overlook the sea shore if I am at the coast and stuck with our allotted one) It was very nice inside . But overall I would say that "Excellent " would be .my word to describe this stay.Thank you to All the staff who made this holiday one of our most enjoyable .
