    “Couples vacation”

We’ve just returned from our Riviera Maya vacation, were we had a wonderful time! Everything made us feel special, from the reception in a relaxed setting where we were offered a drink while waiting to check-in, to the moment we left. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, the rooms luxurious and spotless, and there’s a diversity of dining options. We liked Spices the most, for their modern interpretation of Mexican cuisine, but all other 4 international options were great. Service was outstanding overall, but the concierge Alan (Alfaro) was particularly helpful and kind, going above and beyond to make sure your needs are met! My husband scheduled some dives with ProDive, which is right on premise, simplifying things. The hotel is in a very safe area of Playacar, and in walking distance (15-20min) to Playa del Carmen, though I recommend to also take a cab to visit the north side which has nice restaurants and shops, and is less crowded. Overall we had a great trip and we’re already thinking of going back:)

“The best Adults-Only All Inclusive Beach Resort in Playacar”

This was our first vacation ever to Mexico, and the Yucatan Peninsula. I don't know why we waited so long. The Royal Hideaway was perhaps the finest resort we have ever stayed at, and was a tremendous value for the money. Other than a mixup regarding where we could eat the night we arrived, just about everything was perfect. This resort is located near the southern end of the Playacar area just south of Playa del Carmen. This area is so much better than the areas to the north where the beach has almost disappeared. The Royal Hideaway Playacar is directly on the beach with two beautiful pools looking out at the Caribbean. You can choose to sit poolside or head down to the wide, white sand beach and grab a lounger under a palm tree. Attendants are always present when you need something to drink or a bite to eat. Back at the resort, the grounds are beautiful and enjoyable to walk through. Eleven individual buildings house approximately 200 rooms with even the basic room almost like a suite. The primary building is located at the entrance, and houses the reception area, shopping, excursions office, and several restaurants and clubs. At the opposite end near the beach are three other restaurants in one building including The Deck which overlooks the beach and Spices, an excellent Mexican restaurant. The staff was courteous and always ready to please. We did not encounter one employee during our one week stay that we had any type of issue with. The staff was wonderful, and really make it hard to leave this place when it's time to return home. Please keep in mind that these employees typically work a six-day, 45 hour week for wages many of us would consider far too low. Tipping them is important, and for the service they provide they make this easy. You can pay more for larger resorts with fancy names, but I assure you that you are likely wasting your money. Of course, the Royal Hideaway Playacar is for adults only so for those on vacation with children this resort is not possible. But, for couples and friends, from honeymooners to those celebrating a long wedding anniversary you'll be hard-pressed to find a resort better than this one.

“Best all inclusive resort I've ever stayed at!”

We had a bumpy start with housekeeping however the Royal Hideaway went above and beyond to ensure my sister and I had a wonderful weekend! This was my Birthday Weekend and I'm so happy I spent it here! We've already discussed going back possibly in May or July!

“You get what you pay for....”

First class luxury resort. I was resistant to my wife's request / desire to spend the extra money to stay at the Hideaway after our 6 days in Cancun. I must admit that this was the nicest resort I've ever stayed at. Spectacular grounds, buildings and rooms. The restaurants were top-notch and Las Ventanas was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. Great pool and beach with non-stop bar service. Each building where the rooms are have a concierge to assist you with restaurant reservations, etc. There's a dive shop (Pro Dive) onsite and they do a great job. We have stayed at the Allegro next door and really like it there as well. Same beach, same beer but not the same quality in food and amenities. You get what you pay for...

    “Royal Hideaway vacation”

We have been twice. The first time we loved every moment. The second time things were a little different. Still a beautiful place with outstanding wait staff but food and entertainment changed. The first visit had outstanding pool entertainment with great singers and Mayan dancers. The food this time was still delicious but not out of this world as it was on our first visit.
