Best restaurants in Chipiona
You could say that there is a lack of gourmet restaurants in Chipiona. But what is clear is that, in those regarded as the town’s best restaurants, high quality produce reigns supreme. This can certainly be said for the following businesses, which also stand out for their location, service and atmosphere.
Casa Paco (Puerto Deportivo de Chipiona, Av. Rocío Jurado, s/n):
Offering views of the sea from its large windows, an excellent location in the bustling heart of the town and, in addition, seafood with an exceptional flavour, calibre and freshness. With such a letter of introduction, who could resist a good bite to eat at this restaurant?
El Faro (Av. Sevilla, 14):
Don’t be misled by the simplicity of this establishment with a terrace, because the quality and care with which they treat their local produce is really commendable. Among its delicacies are fish croquettes, seafood and seasonal fish (both fried and grilled), seafood stews and grilled meat.
Los Corrales (Paseo de las Canteras, s/n):
This place could be included in the beach bar section, as it is located on the sand of Las Canteras beach. But if we consider it one of the best restaurants in Chipiona, it is for its truly succulent grilled fish and its selection of seafood.
Casa Juan (Av. Andalucía, 3):
Good produce, even better service, a very pleasant atmosphere… These seem like sufficient reasons for it to be included in this list. Add in excellent dishes such as the assorted croquettes, the pastela moruna, the garlic prawns, the cod loin in a sea anemones sauce and the tuna muffin with cured cheese.
Pipirigaña (Av. Nuestra Señora de Regla, 2):
As in any good restaurant in Chipiona (and Cadiz), this restaurant’s menu does not lack for fish, with special mention going to the tuna. They are, however, also specialists in quality meats, from Retinta and Extremadura veal to the most succulent cuts of Iberian pork.
Beach bars in Chipiona
Along the more than 12 kilometres of coastline in the municipality of Chipiona there are five main beaches. And on all of them you will find one or more beach bars or beach clubs where you can enjoy days filled with sun, sea and sand, wonderful sunsets and, of course, local, national and international cuisine. These are just a few of them:
Las Canteras (Ingeniero Jaime Font, 4):
Very close to the imposing lighthouse of Chipiona, the menu of this beach bar is full of tasty fish and seafood, such as gilthead bream, sole, monkfish, sea bass, wedge sole, prawns, razor clams, clams, shrimps, coquina clams, carabineros… A real mecca for fans of seafood.
Chiringuito Pepe (Paseo Costa de la Luz, 97-103):
On Camarón beach, close to the Virgen de Regla chapel, this classic establishment has everything you expect to find at a beach bar; in other words, classic service, good deep-fried fish and a bustling atmosphere. They also have an interesting selection of montaditos, or mini open sandwiches.
Saam Club de Mar (Pago Valdeconejos, 19. Camino Niño de Oro):
Located on Chipiona’s main urban beach, it is clear from the name alone that this is not a typical beach bar. Here they offer an appealing global fusion cuisine, with very original dishes and attractive presentation. All of it is washed down by an excellent wine selection and a range of cocktails.
AWA Beach Club (Paseo Costa de la Luz, s/n):
On Regla beach, it boasts a modern atmosphere, with an elegant design and casual atmosphere. On the menu you will find the same classic local deep-fried fish as well as fish tatakis, sushi and salads with ingredients and flavours from far-flung countries.
Eating well and on a budget in Chipiona
Eating well and on a budget in Chipiona is not the exception but the norm. Prices in bars and restaurants are more favourable than in neighbouring towns. In light of this, the following bars and restaurants are particularly recommended:
Casa Laura (Av. Jerez, 15):
Good local cuisine based on seafood, perfect for sharing in half or full-sized portions. The star of the show here is the fish from the Bay of Cádiz.
La Concha (Av. Jerez, 21):
Very close to Regla chapel, this restaurant is perfect for eating tapas and/or montaditos as well as more formal meals. As you would expect, the highlights of the menu come from the sea.
La Marota (Paseo Marítimo, 44):
Also on the beachfront, in this restaurant you can enjoy both tapas and formal lunches and dinners. Options include clams a la marinera, papas arrieras, grilled sardines, little fried fish… For the more carnivorous types there are several burger options.
Las Cañas (Paseo Cruz del Mar, 26):
As a preliminary warning, it is worth mentioning that this spot is small and very popular among locals, so it is almost always full to overflowing. You will understand why when tasting their ensaladilla, paella and fideuás, as well as the seasonal fish and seafood.
Best spots for tapas Chipiona
As in all of Cadiz, tapas is the most popular and common way of eating out in Chipiona, which you will discover right away, while holidaying in this part of Spain. There are so many bars and restaurants that it would be impossible to make a fair and balanced selection. So, although not all of them appear, the following establishments are certainly worth a visit:
Bar Peña Bética (Larga, 46):
Looking at this place from the outside you would never believe the amount of space and number of tables it has. It specialises, naturally, in local seafood and is very popular among the people of Chipiona.
Casa Manolo Peña El Chusco (Padre Lerchundi, 13):
The walls covered in photographs and souvenirs seem a perfect setting for a menu as popular as it is extensive, including hot and cold tapas, montaditos, fish and seafood. All at more than reasonable prices.
Bar El Volapié (Isaac Peral, 10):
Among the house specialties are the seafood and meat stews, the Volapié eggs, the estoque de melva, the garlic coquina clams and the local cateto bread.
Gastrotasca Sin Bulli (Padre Lerchundi, 26):
Unconventional tapas and toasts, at least by the area’s standards, including options such as bacon piripi, chicken alioli, palometa roque, avocado and anchovy and baked Bulli potatoes with melted cheese and avocado.
