Natural setting: from the lighthouse to Camarón
Regla beach is 1,452 metres long and 50 metres wide, and is situated between the historic Chipiona lighthouse and Camarón beach.
The fine golden sand emerges in front of the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Regla, the patron of Chipiona. The beach is named after the sanctuary and, on 8 September, it is filled with festivities, and the procession with the virgin ends right at the foot of the sea.
You should also see the lighthouse that marks the beginning of the beach which was built in Roman times, in 140 BC, by the proconsul Quintus Servilius Caepio, to monitor the ships along the river Guadalquivir, which has its entrance to the sea right there.

Another characteristic is that the sea in this area is calm, with an intense blue, which is ideal for carrying out many water activities and providing an enjoyable atmosphere for both families and groups of friends.
Beach facilities: Blue Flag
This incredible beach has been awarded the Blue Flag thanks to the quality of its water and the cleanliness of its sand.
It has all the facilities you may need and that is why it is one of the most popular beaches.
Apart from hiring sun loungers and parasols, there are also stands where you can get sports equipment for numerous water activities.
It has a parking area and is fully accessible from the promenade. It is also ideal for a long walk along the coast.
If Regla beach is famous for anything, it is precisely for the numerous beach bars nearby, which make this a very crowded area in Chipiona.
It also has toilets, showers, lifeguard service and a Red Cross post in case of emergencies.
Beach bars and where to eat the famous coquina clams
Regla beach is famous not only for its sandy area and blue sea, but also for the numerous beach bars where you can eat delicious tapas and, above all, the famous coquina clams.
One of the most traditional is El Primo, which is just a few metres from the sanctuary and is one of the best places to eat fried fish and the traditional tapa, i.e. coquina clams.

Another must in this area is Los Manolos, a restaurant that has been around since 1948 with the same family spirit and excellent food. The best thing on the menu is the fried fish, the shrimp omelettes, the spectacular sardines and the traditional stews.
Nearby is also La Gaviota, where you can enjoy delicious rice dishes, homemade cod strips and a variety of tapas; plus the kiosk Bar San Agustín, a family-run beach bar where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the area.
Water activities and other beach games
One of the main attractions of Regla beach is its length since it has a promenade where you can stroll along while feeling the sea breeze all the time. You can also take a dip in the sea or sunbathe on a sun lounger under a parasol, listening to the ebb and flow of the waves.
Nevertheless, for sports lovers, this bathing area is special as you can find several stands where you can hire paddle boards, a special activity in Regla due to its calm and shallow waters, or kayaks to explore the coast.
If you do not want to go canoeing, there are always pedal boats for the whole family to enjoy and there are even jet skis.
At certain times, you may see anglers preparing their hooks and there is even a diving area where you can snorkel or dive.
Within the beach, there is an enclosed children’s play area where the youngest bathers will find a paradise of fun for them.
