Travel

• The town also has a unique Jewish heritage complex in Catalonia, one of the Jewish baths, Miqvé, the most important in Europe, and remains of an old Synagogue from the 13th century.

• We will then visit the town of Castellfollit de la Roca with the profile of the church and the hanging houses on top of the basalt wall, on the edge of the precipice, it has become one of the most photographed and painted images in Catalonia; but it is also a magnificent natural viewpoint from which you can see the valleys of two rivers, the Fluviá and the Toronell.

• If time allows us, before reaching Santa Pau, we will make a stop, a simple walk of about 30 'to get in touch with nature. We will visit the Romanesque Hermitage of Santa Margarida, located in the middle of the crater of the volcano of the same name. Apart from its surprising location, we will enjoy splendid views. (low difficulty, suitable for children and adults).

• We will continue to the town of Santa Pau, which in addition to a typically medieval appearance (with walls, irregular streets and evocative corners ...), drawn in the first half of the 14th century, has buildings of remarkable architectural value, despite the fact that the main virtues of the enclosure are the dominant austerity and the practical and functional character that the stones reveal. The town of Santa Pau was declared a Historic-Artistic Complex in 1971.

• Another jewel of this town, are the beans of Santa Pau, these beans grown in the volcanic soils near this town for many years only for self-consumption, nowadays they are highly appreciated for the fineness of their flavor.

• To finish we will go to Banyoles Lake, which represents the largest continental water mass in Catalonia, with a great landscape value and a sample of the Catalan collective identity. It is the second largest natural lake in the Iberian Peninsula and its origin is tectonic and karst. We will learn about the legends that surround it walking with an ecological boat that allows us to glide over the dark waters of the lake without noise or smoke (to do the boat trip a minimum of 8 people is needed, if it cannot be done, it will be replaced by a ride to foot).
