Why is Huelva located where it is? , What the hell are Los Cabezos? , an amazing story of 5 million years, discover it!

The location of the city of Huelva is totally conditioned by geology. Geology controls the orography and this orography in turn conditions the settlement of the different civilizations that have visited us, they need: water, food (fishing), trade (Puerto de Huelva), mining... and the location of Huelva has offered them the necessary resources to live here.

In the urban environment of Huelva we can see several promontories, like hills, popularly known as” Cabezos”. (Translated will be like: bobblehead), which are an iconic landscape feature of the city and an important part of Huelva's Natural Heritage. Hand in hand with our qualified local geologist, passionate about the city's history, we will take a walk visiting some of our “Cabezos”  as the guiding thread of a memorable, educational and enjoyable route. History, anecdotes, characters, urban planning and geology come together to understand and value these hills and the importance of protecting them
