The origin of Yellow Day can be traced back to a concept developed in 2005 by Cliff Arnall, a psychologist from the United Kingdom, who also coined the term “Blue Monday”. 

His formula, known as the happiness equation , takes into account various factors such as weather, daylight hours, mood, and social activities, and his results determined that the 20th of June is the happiest day of every year in the Northern Hemisphere.
