    “Late Review - Meh”

This hotel property is not terrible, just very outdated If you're not in an upgraded package then things like room service, mini bar restocking, and wifi are extras Fruits and beverage selections were good, but food was okay Could possibly be the fact I travelled early December, but was absolutely nothing to see or do after 9pm - the disco was dead, literally 3-4 people the nights I was there I didn't go in the water, but beach looked nice. Overall, all staff provided good service, but not a place I would spend a week unless all you want to do is a lot of nothing

    “Bliss!”

Imagine a place with 9 bahias & 36 playas, all different, some where you have the beach to yourselves and some filled with families enjoying a day at the beach. Imagine a place with the Pacific to the west and the mountains to the east. Where the towns and villages are mostly authentic and not commercialized. Where it's safe to travel around with plenty of taxis offering fair and reasonable fares. That's Hautulco Mexico. Now imagine waking up early in the morning, opening the patio door and listening to the Pacific break onto a beautiful golden beach, hearing many happy birds, and best of all, watching the sunrise over the mountains. That's the Barcelo resort on Tangalunga Bay in Huatulco, Mexico. It's a solid 4* resort. The food was above average with a lot of Mexican choices. Dona Rosa Restaurant, very good. Algave Mexican restaurant, excellent. Kyoto Sushi Bar, excellent, as well as a wonderful dining experience., La Fontana Italian restaurant was closed for renovations and moved to La Tortuga, the steak was great but the chicken was dry. La Tortuga was great for breakfast and lunch, open air right beside the beach. We are not big drinkers but the drinks were ok with the exception of the pina coladas. The beach is beautiful but the waves break right at the beach and it gets deep very fast. We upgraded to Premium after reading various reviews about a la carte reservations, something perhaps management should address since that issue seems to register the most complaints. The upgrade offers some perks and we felt there was enough value in it we'd probably do it again. We felt very welcomed and verfy safe. The staff were very helpful and we had no bad experiences. The waiters on the beach and in the restaurants were very professional. The lady who made omelettes in La Tortuga (sorry we didn't get her name) always had a smile and great service. To Siriaco Martinez, our waiter every morning, you made our day! Thank you. To our fellow guests with whom we made friends during our stay, we enjoyed your company and lunches and celebrating a certain young lady's 50th birthday. We enjoyed the music, the shows and Mexican night in the courtyard. The mixture of Canadian, Mexican and Americans was great. We especially enjoyed the birthday celebration in El Jorongo where everyone joined together to celebrate and dance with no talk of walls or barriersl. Would we go back to Barcelo Huatulco? Yes, in a heartbeat! Thank you for a fantastic vacation! So, Huatulco 5*, Barcelo a solid 4*. TIps: Visit as many beaches as you can. If possible, don't miss Zipolette, about 1-1/2 hrs away. Fernando was a great, careful cab driver with good english and knowledge of the area. Try the Mezcal. For our Missouri friends, Sip, don't slam!

    “yoga”

Yoga was great with Miguel, Carlos, y Aldo very relaxing and enjoyable! Miguel lead the group with a very soothing voice in stretches and easy to follow yoga moves. It was just what I wanted, enough to get you sweating but nothing to intense for vacation mode! I will definitely will be joining in for the next yoga class!

    “Nice Hotel All in All”

Our family recently visited Huatulco over spring break and opted to stay at the Barceló. Overall, our stay was good. The rooms were nice (and clean), the beach and water activities were great, and the overall ambiance of the resort was welcoming. Our only nit was the food--we were slightly disappointed as to overall quality and restaurant choices (the Italian restaurant was under construction and closed and some of the other restaurants were not open the nights that we wanted to eat there). The pool and pool bar were a lot of fun. We enjoyed hanging out with our Canadian "cousins." A shout out to Marissio (water aerobics and pool volleyball instructor) for his charisma and enthusiasm!

    “Family vacation”

I travelled with my mom and 2 children age 2-5 and had a great trip. We took full advantage of all the things to do at the resort. Fernando on the beach was amazing with the water activities. He took us all out an a very enjoyable sail boat ride. The beach has a strong undertow and me and my son actually got sucked into it and he couldn’t have gotten to us any quicker and helped my son. I lost my sun glasses in the mix and Fernando had them waiting for me the next day. Lots of options for food however I found most food cold. Pancakes French toast and waffles were all very good but always were cool. The pizza is amazing and was always fresh ! The ice cream machine was broke for 5 of 7 days we were there. The staff are amazing and so accommodating. No one said no to us all week. They truly try to please all. Bell boy service was super fast. We took a taxi to the airport before the bus came and was the best decision to skip the rush with everyone else. It was 250 pesos. My son had many mosquito bites. There were non in site our first half of our trip but 3 days in he got several as well as myself. My other two travel companions got very few. My son who is 2 cut his eye lid on the slide coming down (to no fault of the hotel) and Mario was absolutely amazing and so attentive. He acted quickly and was very clean about everything. We had a dr called to our room who arrived within 5 minutes and put two stitches in. This was a traumatic situation of no fault again to the hotel but was handled amazing. Mario followed up every day we were there Checking in on my son. The beds and pillows were super comfortable and the maids service was fast and daily. Fridge was stocked daily and always willing to give more of whatever asked for. I loved the size of the resort. Everything was close together. We stayed in room 114 which is main level and central to everything. The room did however often have a sewage smell to it that came and went. I never brought this to anyways attention as it wasn’t unbearable but something to note. The airport was a frustrating experience because they do not have carts for all your luggage and travelled with 2 kids I was definitely out numbered.
