    “Good holiday”

    Just back from a 2 week all inclusive holiday. Hotel staff and entertainment staff are excellent. However our tour operator never advised us on the renovation work taking place in the dining areas of the hotel . Food offered is cold and there is very little choice . The make shift dining area is not appropriate and unsafe . The hot holding of food is not meeting food safety guidelines. This hotel will offer a great holiday experience once all the renovations have been completed. I would not recommend going here during 2018 there is still too much work needing to be done to ensure this hotel keeps its 4 star status . P Booth Scotland.

    “Good hotel in a great location, let down by restaurant closure”

    Just back from an enjoyable week half board at the Allegro Isora. The rooms and public areas are well kept and clean, our third floor room in D block appeared to have recently been renovated and had everything we needed. The living room and balcony were spacious although the bedroom was a bit tight due to the large bed. The kitchen area was great for half board but would have been limited for self catering. The balcony looked over the pool, and although not exactly a sea view (we hadn't requested one) we could see La Gomera quite clearly, and the sunsets were stunning! What we didn't know before we travelled was the restaurant was closed for renovation. Tables had been set out round the main pool and the snack bar was set up as a makeshift serving area. On Friday night it was absolute mayhem when a huge number of Spanish folk (locals from the north of the island I think) came to stay for the weekend. The staff just couldn't keep up with the demand for food so there was very little choice (although the BBQ was flowing which was great). Unbeknown to us they had located the salads and desserts to the stage area (about 75m from the serving area) so we missed out thinking there was none left! Hats off to the staff for keeping their cool and doing the best they could though! TUI should really have informed us about the restaurant closure and associated issues as it had closed before we travelled. We upgraded to AI on our last day (we got a late checkout / AI package for €25 each) so sampled lunch (much more relaxed than breakfast or dinner) as well as the drinks on offer. I'd say it fairs favourably with other Canarian AI offerings, plenty choice of local drinks and nice beer! There's three pools at the hotel, but due to the relocation of the restaurant there were no sun beds around the main pool in the centre. The lower pool was geared up for kids and families so the upper pool was pretty busy, especially on Friday and Saturday. We didn't have any problem getting sun beds for the three of us, but we preferred the terrace area away from the poolside where it was packed. The local area is typical of a smaller Canarian resort with supermarkets (there's a Hyperdino Express right outside the hotel), shops, a few restaurants nearby and the usual excursion and car / scooter hire shops. Playa la Arena beach is just down the road, about 10 minutes walk mainly downhill on the way. If you want to venture further Los Gigantes is about 30 to 40 minute walk north west along a mainly car free esplanade / walkway. It takes you through Puerto de Santiago, so be sure to check out the Fisherman's Inn for great seafood and views! Be aware that when we were there last week the beach at Los Gigantes was closed due to construction work, not sure when it will reopen. Our favourite walk was south east along the coastal path to Alcalá and Playa Jaquita. We stumbled across this, but if you head down the road right opposite the hotel entrance then take the first right and carry on down you'll find it. It's about 1.5km to Playa Jaquita (three lovely wee beaches, natural swimming pools and a beach bar) and another 0.5km to Alcalá past the Palacio de Isorá hotel. Most of it is a paved coastal path with a short unpaved bit around the headland before the beach. There's plenty places to sit along the way, with stunning views over the sea to La Gomera and inland to Mount Teide. It's also a great viewpoint for the cliffs at Los Gigantes and Masca. This is a great location for exploring the north of the island. We hired a car and did a round tour to Masca, Garachico, Icod, La Orotava, Teide National Park and Villaflor in a day. We've never stayed on the north coast of Tenerife due to the risk of cloudy weather, and our day trip confirmed this, cloudy from Masca to La Orotava! However, once we got up to Teide we were well above the clouds in clear blue sky. All in all a good holiday experience that could have been been even better had the restaurant not been closed. I've given it 4/5 but would have gone for 3.5/5 if that was an option, however I think it's unfair to rate it average based solely on our experience. Would we go back? Unlikely as we never usually visit the same hotel twice for our holidays, but if we were staying in that area again we would certainly consider it.

    “Horrendous worst place ever”

    Where do I start food disgraceful stone cold tasteless nothing for kids same things everyday what ever was left over after breakfast was still there at lunch unless rice,fried egg and sausage is a new dish!! My hubby got a pork chop which was uncooked I paid for all inclusive and spent most of my week eating out ...got put in block c where people where carting Trollys around at 12 midnight bare in mind I had my 2yr old and 10mnth old baby who kept getting woke up staff are rude people waiting 15mins for drinks when 2 staff behind bar!! Baby pool blocked off for 2 days cat poo everywhere .. air con didn’t work! Electric kept tripping I will be taking this further as this was my first family holiday and paid a lot for and it’s been totally ruined. Not one people asked it I had a nice time or thanks for staying when we checked out!!

    “Overall a reasonable break for reasonable money”

    Not sure if this hotel is 4 star, probably not at moment, staff very friendly and hard working ,hotel main restaurant was closed and not told until arrival, good entertainers, possible room theft issue
