    “Great Family Resort”

Just got back from Cozumel and 7 days at the Allegro Cozumel. What a great place! Resort is the perfect size, not huge, everything is easily accessible to find. Property is clean, grounds are well maintained, and the room was a little small but you had everything you needed. Food was good, buffets switched daily to always offer you variety but after 7 days no matter where you go your buffeted out. Japanese & Italian restaurant were excellent as well. In my opinion the staff are what really make this place great. Everyone who worked there was always friendly and courteous, which truly made your vacation experience awesome. They genuinely wanted you to have a great time and it showed. Anyone thinking about vacationing at this resort with there family or even as a couple won’t be disappointed. Cozumel has lots to do and is a beautiful place.

    “Disappointed ”

We are at the Allegro and upgraded to the premium. This is a huge let down. You get access to a “private “ pool that is not policed. No drink service what so ever around the pool Food is meh. Service is lacking. There are three restaurants and we arrived Saturday and they are completely booked for the week we are here. Do not pay for the premium!!!! We won’t be back.

    “Great Vacation ”

Just returned from a 7 day stay with 7 others we had an amazing time. Rooms are very clean the resort as well. Food amazing at all restaurants. The buffet should change up the variation food during supper time. I would strongly suggest more tables and chairs near the ocean bar along with music at night

“Resort is better then some of the reviews posted”

Ok, let me be clear, I don't work for the resort or its parent company and simply will provide an honest review of a resort from someone that has traveled to many islands in the Caribbean. We visited the Allegro Feb 1-8th and this is our 6th visit to the island in last 10 yrs and first stay at Allegro. Few years ago we stayed at Occidental Grand the sister resort to Allegro. Before going we read many of the reviews and can honestly say this resort is not bad at all, in fact quite the opposite. The staff and management are very helpful and tried their best to make quests experience the best they could. Yes we tipped and maybe that helped with our experience but with a simple smile and friendly hello to staff I think that goes along way. Its was sad, watching how some guests simply were rude to staff and expected they were the only ones in the resort...such arrogance. Lets start with beach - 100% you will enjoy the beach, great location on island, lots of palm trees and lounge chairs. The resort and beach layout is great, short walk to everything. Rooms, if you can great a Premium level room, do it. You will not be disappointed. We upgraded to a suite Rm 6721 as it was my birthday and my wife and I's 30th anniversary so we decided to spurge and we loved our room. ocean view huge room with whirlpool tub. In premium section you have concierge to help book restaurants and other things you might want during your stay. They were very helpful. Restaurants and Bars. We found more then enough choices at each of buffets to satisfy our taste buds. Don't believe the reviews that say otherwise. The lunch and dinner buffets always had a grill with choices of beef, chicken, pork and fish so you could always get something hot and cooked fresh. The drinks at all bars use mix of top shelf and other brands. I really enjoyed the Habana Lite drink, (coconut rum, melon liquor, pineapple juice and sprite...try it, it was good and one of the drinks of the days. There sometimes was long lineups at the lunch buffet and dinner buffet but there was a simple answer to this problem, go at a different time and the lines were allot less. Lunch 12-12:30 best time, 1pm busy, breakfast 8-8:30am best time as 9am was busier. If you get a chance to goto the China el la carte restaurant, go there, the best and was fun with the chefs cooking right in front of you. Great tasting steak, chicken and shrimp stir fry. you will not be disappointed. Italian was good as well and Mexican which was at the lunch buffet close to beach was very good as well. We tried all three but had to get friend to book one of the restaurant for us as each guest is only allow two per week, something might be a turn off to some but its very easy to work around simply by doing what we did. Every evening and morning you can get a copy of the Sunrise (daily sheet) at the front desk which outlined activities and daily events plus other info happening around the resort. Entertainment....I would rate it a 3 or 5 but we did enjoy the Break dance show, circus show, fire show and even the Michael Jackson show (good dancing). We happened to be there for Superbowl and this resort put on a great event in the Theater with big movie screen. They even show daily movies at 6:30pm for kids and adults alike. The disco was a little quiet most nights but Friday and Saturday were better. The day event crew do a good job and there was always something happening after lunch each day near the beach, you will not be bored if you get involved. The grounds of this resort are beautiful and we found the overall location, grounds, food, bar, room, beach and service better then the Occidental Grand and others we have been at in Cozumel especially when you factor in price. Great value for money compared to others. Diving, although i didn't dive with the resort dive shop I did get 14 dives in while in Cozumel........it is one of the best places in the world to dive and I really enjoyed it. great swim thru's, turtles, sharks, lobster, eagle rays and tons of fish. I used Scubalife whom picked me up and others at dock right at Allegro at 9:30am. WIFI, yes its not free but for $40 you get access all week and we got signal everywhere on resort even on the beach. Buy the weekly package but make sure to activate on day two and check with staff as if you active on day one you will not have signal the final day or your vacation, especially if you have late departure. We would highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Cozumel, I don't think you would be disappointed. Special shut out to some great staff at the Allegro: Juan Carlos and Arron-Bartenders (the best, find them you will not be disappointed), Servers Santos and Miguel (great wait staff and very helpful and friendly) and last but not least Elvis (one of the managers), under extreme pressure to handle a large wedding party and other groups I can say Elvis exceeded all expectations to help guest out. Even on the busiest days he still found time to help us out with our requests. Great Job Allegro, all your staff worked hard to make our vacation wonderful

    “Great Location....but”

So the hotel is in a great location - beach and pool all close. The rooms are small but cozy - and not really spending much time in there anyway....although I wouldn't like to fit a family of 4 in there.. A couple of nights there was a foul smell coming from the drain that woke me up from my sleep, but it went away after a couple days of it. The resort absolutely needs to address the wait time to eat at the buffet. That is not acceptable - on vacation, and we have to wait for a table at the buffet?? All three meals were the same. Unfortunately, I also found the food was cold. It is too bad, this place has such potential because of the beach and the variety of pools. Staff were kind and did their best. We had to fight to get a room next to our kids - they claimed Air Canada never told them we wanted to be together. They managed to get us moved together on day 3. But on day 5 wondered why we weren't checking out of our room, telling us we were supposed to be leaving....so had to go to the front desk to work that out. Mini bar in room was always restocked. WIFI is NOT free - $12US for 24 hrs. Anyway, it you aren't fussy about line-ups and a small buffet, you'll enjoy the resort. Price was also better than others.....but you get what you pay for.
