    “Great Vacation at Allegro Playacar”

    We just returned from our 6th stay at Allegro Playacar. We had a great room opposite the Mexican restaurant by the pool. Everything about the room was perfect. Every worker we met from the time we arrive until we left were the nicest we have ever met. We must agree with other reviews about the music and the microphone at the pool being WAY too loud. You could not have a conversation with the person sitting next to you. If you have a microphone, there is no need to scream into the microphone. We spent our 10 days on the beach, which by the way is amazing. Breakfast and lunch always had a great selection to pick from. Dinner left a little to be desired. The pasta area has also declined in quality. It looks like they are still trying to improve on things so we will be back for sure the same time next year. As far as evening entertainment, we did not see any shows. It looks like all the shows from past years have been replaced. We definitely missed seeing the Michael Jackson tribute on Saturday night. It was great, best show ever.

    “At least the beach was great”

    We stayed at Allegro Playacar February 6 - 13, 2020 as a party of 6 which consisted of 3 couples. Four of us had stayed here 15 years ago, but that was a long time ago and different ownership. Our stay was fun but also we had our share of disappointments. This was our 9th (Playa area) Mexico all-inclusive trip. Part of the disappointment stems from having expectations of an all-inclusive based on those previous stays. Room -- By far, the largest problem we had was that our room had no hot water for the entire stay (8 days and 7 nights). Despite lodging complaints 4 separate days (5 counting check-out), it was either never addressed or at least never corrected. We were in building 13 which was about 80 yards from the show area. If we stayed there again, we wouldn't want to be that close to the show as you wouldn't be able to sleep until after the show due to the music volume. Another issue was that there is NO room service at this resort. We had come to expect that as a normal part of an all-inclusive resort. The rooms were clean and the air-conditioning worked well. Beach -- the beach was beautiful and had no rocks, a large sandy beach area, easy to walk, games to play, plenty of chairs, some tree shade and there was cocktail service. Shows -- the shows were varied and I think would have been much better if more guests would have shown up for them. The talent level at most of the shows was very high. I felt a bit sorry for them to work so hard for such a small audience. Shows started around 9 or 9:30 at night and usually started with a some guest children getting up on stage to dance around and play games. We learned that if that (the kids) was occurring at 9pm, then our adult show really started at 9:30. We enjoyed especially the Mexico night, Caribbean night, and the All Star night. Karaoke would have been better with more audience sign ups. Lastly, regarding the stage area, they show a lot of video background. They used some form of shiny white tarp instead of a movie screen. They need to invest in a movie screen, as often we couldn't make out what was being shown due to glare. Hot tub -- no comment because they didn't have one! Dinners -- As with most of the all-inclusives, the Allegro Playacar offers evening meals at specialty restaurants in addition to a nightly buffet. However, they only offered one or two options each night and they filled up very quickly. We usually had someone in our party show up an hour before the reservation desk opened and that was the only guarantee to get our reservation. One day they changed the rules mid-week and advised that the reserving person could only reserve for 2 guests instead of their entire party. That didn't go over well at all. That only happened one day. The regular limit for a group reservation was 15 guests which I thought was fair. The meals, once you were able to get a reservation, were always very good. Booze -- Face it, this is one of the main attractions at a resort such as this. Problems or unmet expectations based on past experiences included: *** No lobby bar near the reception area. There was one upstairs from there, but there was no elevator and it didn't open until 11am. *** The pool bar didn't have Kahlua or Disaronno or Crown or a scotch above red label. *** The pool bar sometimes had Jack Daniels and sometimes did not. Even when they did, one time the bartender had to ask for management permission to serve it. On one occasion, I observed it being poured (I can only assume it was Jack Daniel's) inside of a cooler with secrecy so no one else could see what was being poured into the glass. My position would be --- either you have it or you don't! *** The pool bar opened at 10am but no alcohol could be served until noon each day. Really? At an all-inclusive? *** The bars had lots of limes but no olives, cherries, or bitters. That was a slight limitation on drink choices. *** The lobby bar sometimes would have Kahlua or not. They would sometimes have Jack Daniel's or not. One morning, I was told 3 times that they did not have Kahlua until I pointed the bottle out about 2 feet from his elbow. Spa -- We used the spa twice for massages and the staff and service was excellent! My general impression of this resort last week (other than no hot water which is a deal-breaker) was that it might be OK for someone's first ever all-inclusive vacation. They wouldn't know what they were missing. And, again, we did have fun with our friends and the other guests. We, however, won't be back and I've never written that in a review before.

    “Family Stay at Allegro Playacar”

    Overall great resort with nice beaches and pools. Overall staff is awesome to work with. Resort needs to do a better job on the food. Resort also needs to fix the AC units to make it more comfortable for guests during evenings.

    “Can’t Miss With This Hotel”

    We have been at this hotel so far for 13 weeks. We have enjoyed great food, wonderful staff & a truly wonderful location. We can’t help but love it. The weather has been hot almost every day. The beach has been very clean& the water a beautiful blue. There has been very little rain. A great place to come for a relaxing vacation.
