Barceló Tambor - All Inclusive

The Barceló Tambor - All Inclusive Hotel has a wonderful amphitheater with a capacity for more than 200 people, offering different shows every night.

The venue is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM.

This spectacular and competitive golf course was built by the Barceló Group and is set amid of a beautiful tropical setting. Renovation of the golf course was completed by Ulrich Lang, who has been a Class A Superintendent and member of GCSAA (Golf Course Superintendents Association of America) since 1998.


The new design allows for more drama and views into the spectator's areas. The aim was to improve quality and address the strategic challenges posed by the golf course, centered on environmental concerns, while reducing maintenance issues by changing the bunkers. Ulrich Lang worked on replacing the bunkers' drainage systems and redesigning them to make them typical British/European bunkers. These bunkers are respectful of the tropical climate and are better suited to handle rainfall than the previous bunkers were. Finally, the bunkers mixed with new white sand are now available to guests.


Within the Los Delfines Golf Course, there is the first ASOPROLAPA Pre-Release Area, from which over 150 scarlet macaws have been released in the central part of the Nicoya Peninsula. Today, thanks to this effort, this area of the country is home to the third-largest population of free-living scarlet macaws in the country.

ASOPROLAPA was established at the end of 1996.

The survival of the scarlet macaw in the Nicoya Peninsula is supported by a captive breeding program, as well as the monitoring of over 150 artificial nests and 50 natural nests that are available to wild individuals.

The ultimate goal is to establish a self-sustaining population of nearly 500 free-living scarlet macaws that can endure over time.

Within the grounds of the Barceló Tambor - All Inclusive Hotel, next to the spa, there are 2.5 acres of native vegetation that are home to the Psittacidae Sanctuary, a space dedicated to the conservation of birds such as parrots, macaws, and parakeets. This sanctuary is home to both native and exotic species, including the scarlet macaw (Ara macao), the green macaw (Ara ambigua), and the blue-and-yellow macaw (Ara ararauna).

The main objective of the sanctuary is to protect these species, promote conservation and environmental education, generate scientific knowledge, and disseminate information about their biology and management.

A specialized team works daily to care for the birds, ensuring their food, health, and well-being. In addition, educational talks are offered to raise awareness of wildlife protection and to collaborate with non-governmental organizations to strengthen conservation efforts.
