    “A five night stay became one”

    Im not the kind of person who gives a bad review generally. You have to be really bad to get a bad review from me. Barceló Tambor earned it. First the good. Lots of cool wildlife on the grounds, awesome beach, and a super professional and friendly staff earned them 2 stars. The bad? It was dirty, dingy and old. The house offerings of wine and drinks were swill and if you didn’t like it you had to pay more. $12 a day for WiFi!!!! In 2018!!! You’re trapped! Nothing close by to relieve you from the pain and suffering. But the worst part was trying to sleep in a dingy little room that smells of mold and urine. Super loud and annoying entertainment aimed at local kids, good on them! Couldn’t take it. We left with no refund and it was worth the loss.

    “Edwin made it worth it”

    Edwin Fernańdez was AMAZING at the Japanese restaurant!! His service was the best since we have been here. We had a bad experience with a different staff memeber from being extremely rude. However, he made it all better and is the only reason that I am leaving a good review instead of a bad one. Thank you for turning the day around !

    “Nice all inclusive for a short stay”

    People here are very kind and helpful. It is a 4 star hotel with food and drinks included but what was strange was that wifi was not included, cost is an extra US$12 a day per user. It is located in an area between 2 rivers where crocodiles move from one to the other making this a very difficult way to use the ocean, afraid of crocs eating you. Clean and fun activities as well as good kids and family shows. Itis located in a remote area, far away from everything. To get here I had to go throught tall hills, mountains and rough terrain. Fill up your tank and get a 4x4.

    “Lo que recibe no compensa lo que se paga / You don't get what you pay for”

    Con tantas opciones de 'Todo Incluido' en el país, el Hotel Barceló Playa Tambor está bien largo de cumplir las expectativas. Habitación: olor a humedad, ducha en mal estado, caja fuerte en mal estado, A/C deficiente y sin servicio WIFI gratuito, ya las cosas no empiezan a pintar bien. Comida: decepcionante. La calidad y la variedad es pobre. Comida insípida y las opciones son pocas y malas. Servicio al Cliente: deja mucho que desear. Ante alta demanda, el personal de recepción solo esta preocupado por salir del paso y no brindan nada de información sobre las instalaciones o servicios complementarios del hotel. Los restaurants a la carta, parecen estar muy limitados por la cantidad de comida que quieren ofrecer, más que por la capacidad de los mismos. Una hora despues de iniciadas las reservaciones ya no había campo en ninguno de los restaurants. Y nunca los observé a llegar a estar llenos por mucho.Aspectos positivos: el mantenimiento de las áreas verdes y comunes del hotel y la playa, están impecables. Resumen: el costo por noche de este hotel es muy parecido a otros hoteles de la misma línea que los superar por mucho en todas las categorías en calidad y servicio. Por esta razón, no lo recomiendo. With so many 'All Inclusive' hotels in Costa Rica today, Barceló Playa Tambor Hotel is very far away to meet the expectations. Room: humidity odor, broken shower, broken safe, the A/C is deficient to set a better temperature and you don't get free WIFI (you have to pay for it). Food: Bad quality and poor variety. In general, the food is tasteless and there aren't many options and they're bad. Customer service: when facing high demand, the front desk personnel seems to be in a hurry to "let's get this done asap" and they don't mind explaining about the hotel accommodations and complimentary services. The restaurants 'à la carte' also seems to be very limited by the amount of food the hotel's administration wants to provide to its guests. Just 1hr after the reservations for those restaurants had started, apparently, all spaces available were taken. Fortunately, my wife was able to convince someone to get us a table for 2 and during the 1 1/2 hr we were there having dinner, we never saw the restaurant full, not even close. The positive? the green zones and gardens, hotel's common areas and the beach are flawless. Summary: the cost per night in this hotel is similar to other hotels which overcome them in every single category in quality and customer service. Due to this reason, I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
