    “Excellent”

Room: Clean and tidy. All good inside the bedroom, the clining personal will come in the afternoon or noon, my only complain will be for the public restroom, they're messy, dirty and smell bad. Personal: Nice and make you feel comfortable within the premises of the hotel, if there's anything you need they will help you out, the pool personal are super nice and fun, the night show is funny, the bartender and waitresses helpful. Food: it's good, there's a great variety of food. Even though I do believe they lack of sea food, the red meat, chicken and pork is awesome. They also serve soup and vegetables, they were delicious. The desert, good but not as good as you expected.

    “Ok for a weekend”

Ok, so I`m British but have lived in Costa Rica for 1 year with my partner who is Costa Rican. He`s been to this hotel 3 times over the last 10 years and boasted how good it was so off we went for my birthday last weekend. Wow, the place looked amazing and we could use the facilities well before the check in time of 3.00pm. When we finally got to our room, it was very nice, no complaints. The room had a fridge but only had soft drinks and water in it, no alcohol which has apparently been the case previously. When we went to the pool, the queues at the pool bar were ridiculous. There were 3 members of staff and I counted well over 50 people at the bar waiting to be served, which is ridiculous, its was the weekend and they obviously have more people stay at weekends so need to increase the amount of staff they have working. At the snack bar, there was the same problem plus you couldn`t tell where the queue for the bar ended and the queue for the food started as there was just one orderly continuos queue of about 40 people with only 2 members of staff at each serving station. Not good enough. We were told it was because people were checking out at 1.00pm so were taking advantage of everything but unfortunately it was the same on Sunday and Monday as well. The food in the restaurants does not cater for European people, only Costa Rican people and almost everything is cooked with cilantro, which is fine if you like cilantro. unfortunately, I hate the stuff. Breakfast was the typical Costa Rican dish of rice, egg and meat, although there was an omelette station, cereal and fruit available. Lunch and dinner was basically the same, a large selection of salad, rice, potatoes and maybe chicken, beef and pork but that's about it, there was not a lot of selection seeing as it`s an all inclusive hotel.. My partner even said the food selection was not good enough and he`s Costa Rican. We went to the Rancho restaurant on my birthday and had a fantastic meal, you have to book this early in the morning, I would recommend this. I`m also glad that I don`t have children as the entertainment for kids at night time was only in Spanish, so anyone that didn`t understand Spanish would not be able to join in, I assume it would have been the same during the day time. Finally, the wifi is awful. I gave up trying to use it after half a day. Maybe I`ve been spoilt by other all inclusive hotels in Costa Rica, such as Double Tree Hilton in Puntarenas or the Riu Guanacaste, which have a wide selection of food, limited waiting time at the bars and excellent wifi. Sorry but I can`t recommend this hotel to European people as we expect a bit more than what was available.

    “Barcelo Tambor,Costa Rica”

I normally do not write reviews unless my stay was very, very good or in this case very BAD!! my family and I stayed there for 5-7 days September 22-29th 2018 there was a total of 19 in our party and we all were equally unhappy, the hotel is out dated and the bathrooms were terrible and smelled bad, the bedding was dingy grey color and the hotels decore was very dated, the air conditioning did not work properly in our room and was never fixed, the food was awful, not to mention they advertised free Wi-Fi which of course, it was not free, drinks sucked! they only had 2 restaurants to choice from and you had to make reservations, and they both were bad, but better than the buffet that you ate the same food over and over again, and I have never stayed at a 4 star hotel that served me on paper products, plates, forks, cups you name it, if I could have checked out I would have, but of course the hotel has a NO REFUND POLICY, I was so excited about my trip to Costa Rica and have it ruined by my stay at the Barcelo Tambor. Save your money and stay some where else!!

    “Barcelo Tambor, Costa Rica”

On Sept 3-5 I stayed at this resort, my bathroom smelled like a trucker stop, they charge $12/day for Wi-Fi use that is terrible, avoid the steak house 1 hour of wait for bad food, dirty beach, cheaply drinks, no shuttle service from ferry to resort, only fun thing is the entertainment at night.
