    “It's the Pyramids!”

The name of the hotel alone makes you feel so much excited coz this is the primary reason why you are here. The hotel looks very modern and just across a busy street of the capital. Beds are pleasant enough and comfortable. Though access cards opening doors to suites sometimes malfunction. We stayed for 2 nights, the last hotel stop during our 2-week pilgrimage of the Holy Land. Overall, this hotel in Cairo was a thumbs-up.

    “Meh!”

The food is really good! Breakfast and room service is great! The shower is nice and hot! I rate two stars due to it’s location (it’s located in probably the worst area for a tourist in Egypt), customer service AND the fact that the air conditioning system stopped working after the first night (In Egypt...a desert!) The front desk staff didn’t seem to be proficient in English. I was expecting a package from a business associate and I found myself explaining to the front desk staff what a package is. I never received my package. DHL is telling me that the hotel refused to accept my package...ANYWAY...this hotel is not worth it unless they give you a BIG discount. Also pool area is subpar...the pool bar staff were very nice but this hotel truly suffers from it’s location...

    “OK Stay”

I had 2 nights in the Barcelona when I first arrived in Cairo after a very long flight. I was allocated a very nice large room at the back of the hotel so it was dark and quiet. After resting and looking around the hotel, including the view of the pyramids from the top floor, I was hungry but the buffet didn’t open until 7 so I chose the cafe on the ground floor. However, the lasagne was awful. It took ages to come, was burnt on top and was the worst tasting lasagne I’ve ever had. Breakfast and dinner the next day from the buffet on the first floor was great.

    “Average Hotel”

We were booked at the Barceló as part of a private tour. I assume they picked this hotel because it’s close to the major historical sites. We stayed 3 nights and all three nights there were difficulties with the air conditioning. For two nights it wasn’t working at all despite being informed that it was fixed. Additionally, the shower didn’t always have hot water, which for me isn’t a deal breaker. After all it’s hot in Egypt so a cooler shower actually felt refreshing. While other reviews indicate it’s well located, I would have to absolutely disagree. Our local private guide instructed us not to walk outside the hotel as it’s not a great area. Conversely, the last hotel we were in by the Egyptian museum we were told it was fine to wander around. I trusted our Egyptian guide on this. The hotel rooms were very clean and comfortable enough. Nothing fancy or special. I would say this would be similar to a Hampton Inn maybe a slight notch below. The free breakfast had an amazing spread and my husband loved the omelettes. The food we ate via room service was also delicious. The pool area was beautiful if you have time to spend there. However, a big drawback for me is the smoke smell that permeated throughout the hotel. I realize as an American traveler many other countries have a high number of smokers, but cigarette smoke induces migraines for me so I prefer to stay in non-smoking hotels that enforce outside smoking or designated smoking areas only. I also realize this is hard to find in Egypt and I did not include this preference in my star rating. I would not stay at this hotel again if I were to visit Cairo, but as stated it’s nice enough if you are only passing through for a few nights.

    “Good stay ”

Ive stayed two night at the hotel. The hotel is very well located, clean, in a street where you can easy walk, have a coffee buy delicious Arabic candy’s, also have a dinner at the safary 2000, a brand new restaurant cafe, the rooms are very comfortable and clean... I need the exchange dólares for a small dólares, and the GUEST RELATIONS helped me a lot, make it a lot easy for the get libras... Tks RANIA and MR. Maher for the help... My only suggestion is, please put fresh juice on the breakfast. If I come back to Cairo again, I definitely would stay there.
