    “Very Good”

Stay was great! Resort is huge and many things to do! Food was great as well. Buffet should have more options! Water park with the surfing was not included in the price which was very devastating to our kids and our wallets! $20 per person and it’s just for one day! Yes we took the kids and they loved it but wished it was included in the resort! Beach is breathtaking and pools are the biggest I have ever seen and they are all over the resort! Day and night entertainment was ok but I have seen better at other resort. Overall it was a great vacation! Thanks

    “nice place, nice beach”

OK, trying to keep it simple. arrived on a friday, left on a sunday. reception was great, fast, not many people, though it was a friday, if arriving on saturday or sunday, it is usually way more busy. the hotel complex is huge, this one is nice, close to the shopping area, next to a sports bar, nice restaurants close by. Room, is ok, not the best ever, clean, nice, spacious, but a little bit old, the front door in our room did not closed easily, it had to be pulled really hard for it to be closed correctly. the veranda door, has no working locks, they do have some manual locks on the top of the glass door, but they do not stay closed..not nice. the staff was perfect!! really good, the attention was just about as good as it gets. restaurants, the main buffet restaurant, was good, not outstanding food, but really good food for the price paid. we were not able to get a booking for the specialty restaurants as it was a very short stay and it is hard to get a reservation so close in time, usually if you stay around a week, you´ll get the reservations for the restaurants. the sports bar (strikers) was just great, the food was nice, very good for a sports bar, the tv´s were great, they even obliged to get me a screen to watch formula one gp, while every other single screen was displaying a world cup match. great!!! the pool was just great, in the evening it gets hot, too much sun and the water gets hot. should be something to be done about this, gets the people more drunk and people tend to become "not nice" when drunk. (anyway, drink responsibly and that will do!!) in the end.. will I recommend this resort? Yes. will I go back as soon as possible? Yes! have fun! stay safe! drink responsibly! (you are on vacation to have fun, not a trip to the ER)

    “As expected ”

We stayed in the Barcelo Maya Beach 2 years ago, which prompted us to return this time again. Although we booked the Maya Beach, we were assigned rooms at the Maya Caribe. Wasn’t aware, and this was a surprise, but it is in the fine print that the hotel reserves the right to accommodate you in a different section... As we checked in to the room, it turned out that the A/C was leaking water, and so was the toilet. Having travelled a lot we know these things happen, the important thing is how quickly they are fixed. All it took was an email to our Barceló booking agent (we always book directly with the hotel, not to get sidetracked to a travel agent for support), and voila, next day everything was fixed. Everything in the room was as expected, although we have the feeling the hotel rooms were slightly run down, in need of some renovations. The hotel(s) despite full occupancy, were not overcrowded. Lots of space at the pristine beach or the pools. I especially enjoyed the new swimming pool, were I could freely do my morning laps unobstructed. The food selection is diverse, and you will find something for every taste. Nice selection of meats, fish and seafood, apart from the speciality restaurants, were it was a bit of a challenge to get a reservation, the buffet restaurants offer everything you might wish. However the noise level inside the buffet restaurants is high, and somehow spoils the experience. A nice solution, if you can stand the heat is to sit at a table in the section which is outside. No A/C, but the sound of the fountains and the running water make it a much more enjoyable meal. We ate at the Caribe where we were pampered by Gillberto (thank you Gillberto for your great service), who too really good care of us, and attended to all our needs promptly. Besides the friendly conversation, we had our glasses filled as soon as they were close to empty, and used disses were swished away. Overall we had some memorable dinners, enjoying the food and the service. Overall a great experience highly recommended for a family vacation.

    “Vacation 2018”

Overall the resort is good. Before arriving I didn't realize that 4 resorts are all connected. Resort is very clean, room - is your typical room, nothing special, but I wasn't expecting luxury at $1300 per person for 7 days vacation. There was one person who was serving Mall Bar - Flor Diaz - EXCEPTIONAL! She is really hard worker! Two things I didn't like about the resort. 1) Restaurants reservation. We had a big group (11 people) and I do realize that's a big group. But even when I asked them to give me a reservation to ANY of their restaurants for 2 people only, I still wasn't able to book it. Finally we decided not to waste our time anymore with restaurants. 2) Beach - There is about 1/4 of the inch deep of sand and then there is a rock. Playing volleyball you will get scratches. And the bottom of the ocean is very rocky. There are patches of sand, but not enough. Bring your water shoes. I understand that ocean floor is not something that resort can control. I just didn't expect that.

    “Tourists be aware !!”

This hotel is nasty 😷🤢 and cheap ! They will rip you off !! They have hidden charges and this is not an all inclusive resort. They will make you bleed and they will make you pay for every little thing possible here and theee. WiFi is not free, room service is not free, drinks in the freezer are not refillable, food is horrible, customer service is the worst, rooms are super outdated, there is mold in the rooms and bathrooms. They close their only buffet for most part of the day and when it opens the food is nasty. Please be aware. Please read other comments and you will find many that coincide with me. Stay here at your own risk.
