“You NEED to go! Amazing family vacation for family of four!”

Barcelo Maya Grand Palace. A great deal even with Premium package. Food, grounds, fitness center, pool, wait staff, Restaurants, and managers are all five star!!! We never left the resort. There was so much to do!!! Grounds and landscaping was pristine. Everyday workers were maintaining the grounds, palm trees, and manicuring the shrubs. Cleanliness of facility was pristine. Each lobby was fingerprint and dust free due to tireless workers forever cleaning. The pools were all vast and clean. The restaurants were themed perfectly and tidy. The gym was clean and upscale. The beaches were gorgeous and clean My family of 4 (two teenage kids) stayed at the Barcelo Maya Grand Palace. We paid for the Premium Package. All well worth it! We reminded a worker that we were Premium members and were escorted to a private lounge upon check in. My teens were able to snack while watching TV while I checked in. Check in was a breeze. We made all of our dinner reservations for the week upon check in. (7:30 for every night). Time to make it to the nightly shows. We stayed Ocean front in the Oaxaca building. The room had two queen/full beds and two twin beds. The bathroom had a double sink and a private toilet. Just enough space for my family. The activity crew everyday was so much fun. Zumba in the pool, beach volleyball, poolside bingo, and more! My kids were constantly entertained. The beach was breathtaking! We walked one beach over to the Tropical beach (1 minute walk) to get the turquoise blue water. My son was in heaven at these beaches. We brought our own snorkel mask that he used daily. The fish are all around you. No need to pay for a snorkel excursion. Just beautiful. The food at the Maya Palace buffets were amazing for breakfast and lunch. We never had to wait for a table. The waiters were such hard workers. The food at the buffets was amazing!!!! Fresh ingredients and a variety daily. Omelet stations in the am and grilling stations at lunch. We tried a la Carte each night. The palace restaurants were 5 stars! Food and service was amazing. The other restaurants were 4.5 stars. I would think losing a half a point due to the kids running around and customers wearing shorts and underdressed. All in all our food experience was a 5 star experience (and we are foodies- from the Boston and NYC area- we know food). (Side note - the pizza is not NY or New Haven pizza. It was okay). All waiters and bus staff were amazing with my daughter’s gluten allergy. Gluten free options at all buffets and dinners. (Italian restaurants had gluten free pastas!) The premium package was well worth it. We felt like royalty with all the extra perks- ocean front room, free room service, access to all premium lounges, high end liquor, 25% off water park, expedited check in , and more. We were invited to a Premium Managers meet and greet. On many occasions throughout our trip, managers spoke with us about our experience. Night life. We went to all shows at the Palace. The singers were AMAZING! They had different themed shows. We were pleasantly surprised with the costumes and music. Water park- we paid $15 a person to get in with our Premium discount. No lines and four great slides for my teens. Very quiet. They have a surf area too. Fitness Center. Maya Palace fitness center is quiet and small. Treadmills, ellipticals, and other weighted machines. The fitness center at the center of the resort- WOW! It was a five star establishment. I did the spin class twice, what a fun experience! My husband and I worked out daily. The equipment was new and diverse. Because we were Premium members we were able to get one hour free in the hydrotherapy rooms- sauna, Turkish hot steam room, baths, essence showers, and more. It was quiet and almost always empty. Dolphin experience. My teens loved the Dolphin experience right on the resort. (Besides the pictures costing as much as the experience, I think it was great.) All in all, our experience at Barcelo Maya Grand Palace with the Premium package was well worth it. The beaches with turquoise water, the vast pool, the delicious buffets and sit down restaurants, the service, the grounds, the new, amazing fitness center all was 5 stars. We are looking forward to coming back soon and enjoy the royalty treatment.

enough said already. My only criticism would be with your check in process it was very poor.I travel with family quite often to Atlantis in the Bahamas. Hire an experienced manager from there and your problems would be solved. Your facilities are excellent your front desk staff are inadequate.

“Exceptional pools & service; Good food”

My 16 year-old son & I stayed at the Barcelo Maya Palace for 4 nights in early July 2018. We had a great time at the massive pool area and enjoyed the beach and ocean as well. It was very clean and the frequent drink service (including bringing bottled water) was a pleasant surprise. There are also enough chairs by the pools that we never had a problem finding a good place to sit. There are also two extra pool/beach towels in the room in addition to the 2 towel cards they give you at check-in. We found the pool height to be a little short for us but thought the poolside entertainment was good -- particularly enjoyed the water balloon game and subsequent water balloon fights. The food in the buffets were good, probably the cleanest and best buffet I have had at an all-inclusive resort. The first night at the buffet I was shocked when our waiter brought a second round of drinks to our table without us even asking! We also tried the French restaurant one night and the Brazilian another night and both were very good. Be aware that they enforce a long pants & closed shoe (no sandals) dress code for men (along with a collared shirt) so BE SURE TO PACK BOTH so you don't have to go clothes shopping in Tulum like we did! I recommend booking the hotel thru the Barcelo.com website and joining the Barcelo club which then provides free wifi service during your stay. It only allows two devices to be connected at once (and disconnecting a device is a pain) but the speed and coverage is pretty good throughout the property. On the negative side, the front desk is inefficient and disorganized. We arrived at noon to check-in early but did not get into our room until after 4pm because we needed a room with two beds which seemed to confound the associates working at the desk. They twice checked us into a King bed room before finally getting it right with the third try. They seemed fine to have one of us sleep on the couch even though we purposefully waited hours for a double room. Also, we had to wait another couple of hours to use the wifi because the room was still registered to the previous guest. Finally, the checkout process was not much better. They do not allow early checkout and do not provide online checkout either so you have no choice but to get up early and wait in line along with everyone else to check out. I was second in line when I got there at 6:30 am but still took nearly 30 minutes to get checked out - and that was after I asked to have someone from the back to help! Overall, putting aside the horrible front desk experiences, we had a great time at the Barcelo Maya Palace and would recommend this resort to anyone.

    “Truly Amazing Trip !”

This trip exceeded all of our expectations. The service, staff, and food was AMAZING ! Everything was above and beyond. I have to give it up for the outstanding service provided by Florencio in the PREMIUM Club during our check in and out process. He made it fast convenient and made sure our service was amazing. Also, Consuelo Perez from the bar in the pool gave excellent service. I would totally recommend the hotel and the staff. The fish restaurant was great as well lots of lobster and shrimp. Make sure you make your dinner reservations on time as the buses during the night time take a lot longer than expected.
