    “Awesome vacation”

We just returned from our first visit (not to be our last). We booked via the Barcelo Maya website I had signed up on as a member. Booking was very easy (we had points for our flights so only needed to book the room). Flew in on 1/16/2020 Cancun airport was extremely busy but considering this was our first trip to Mexico getting through customs was not bad. We chose a private transfer to Barcelo to get there a bit faster and to have the enjoyment of a quiet ride that we could enjoy together. It took about an hour and 15 minutes with very little delays in traffic. Immediately arriving at the hotel our bags were stored for us while we went to Premium check in where cocktails, soda, water and snacks were all available. We only had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to be available for check in and it was very easy. Took about 20 minutes to get checked in - get our bracelets (which were also our room keys) and get 3 al a carte dinners reserved including one for that evening to one of the places we wanted to try. We were escorted to our room and our bags taken up for us. The room was big (Junior Suite Ocean Front Premium at the Palace). A nice King Size bed, 2 sofas a large bathroom with double sinks - a RAIN SHOWER (that was awesome) a large tub and separate room with a toilet. The balcony was a good size with a table and 2 chairs - it overlooked the large Pool area and the ocean on the other side. At first we were not sure we wanted to be over the pool area but decided we liked the location for moving around the areas we favored during out stay. The pool did not start getting really busy until around 10am and the music and business slowed down around 5pm - and we were usually in the ocean or walking exploring during those hours. With the balcony door closed we hardly heard anything outside except a bit of the music from the pool and never heard anything from neighbors. The grounds were immaculate. Everything well taken care of and clean. In thanks to the many wonderful people who work here who all were very friendly, accomidating and always ready to help with anything you needed. The views here are wonderful - the ocean is great for swimming/snorkeling. We saw fish and turtles every time we got into the ocean by the Palace. Beach was cleaned and combed every morning and absolutely beautiful all of the time. Food and drinks were plentiful. Buffets were always stocked with so much food and the restaurants were amazing. The staff is definitely what makes this place. They all work very hard around the clock and always have a smile and are friendly and will try to help you in anyway you can. I wish I could remember everyones name who helped us but there were SOOOO many! I would like to recognise Enrique at the Coco bar who waited on us daily and rememembered drinks we liked and catered to the many different drinks I wanted to try. Fernando and his team at the French Restaurant - Johnson at I believe one of the beach grills (sorry don't recall which one as it was our first day but he helped me understand how things worked and introduced us to a couple of new drinks!) Marcelo Tec at the Mirador - wonderful service all of the time and always a perfect smile. Jose and Carlos at Rodizio. Julio Molar our bell boy who made sure we got our transfer on time! There were just so many people every day going out of their way the entire staff at this place was unbelievable wonderful. They are what makes this place the best vacation you will ever have.

“Fabulous Birthday Celebration at Barcelo Maya Palace”

This was our sixth time at the Barcelo Maya Grand Resorts and our fifth stay at the Palace. My husband and I love the Palace! It is a wonderful resort! Several staff remembered us from our previous visits! The staff are very friendly and genuinely happy to see you and help you with anything you might need. We stayed in a jr suite in the Oaxaca building. This is not the non smoking building, but we never smelled any smoke anywhere in the building. The rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and clean. Each suite has two closets, plus ample drawer and shelf space. The bathroom is large with double sinks and a fantastic rain shower in addition to the tub/shower. The bed was very comfortable - no issues with it being too hard or the rubber mattress cover bothering us. Check in went quickly as only one couple in front of us. Your Barcelo bracelet is now also the room "key", so no having to remember to bring the room key/card. It's always with you! The resort is just beautiful! My husband and I commented on how we had forgotten just how beautiful it is! The water, the beach, the palm trees, the pool! Just gorgeous! I never get tired of the view of the beach when walking back from breakfast. My husband teased me that I stop to take a picture every day! Everything is very clean and the workers work very hard to keep the grounds looking pristine! It is a very large resort, so yes, there is a lot of walking, but we live to walk. And we need the exercise after all the food we eat! The food at the Palace is very good -especially the Mirador breakfast buffet, Coral Grille and the a la carte Palace restaurants. If you want to dine at the ala carte restaurants, be sure to make your reservations right after you check in. You can make three reservations at a time, so you do have to go back again the next day to make three more. We didn't have any problems getting ala carte reservations. Just be flexible and prepared for the fact that you might have to dine early or late. We always chose later so that we could stay at the pool or beach as long as possible. As we were not able to get a reservation at the Palace ala carte restaurants on our first night, we dined at the Mexican ala carte at the Beach/Caribe resort. The food and the service were not on par with the Palace. We had breakfast every morning at the Mirador buffet and were able to sit outside which I love! We were very happy that we were able to get mimosas for breakfast as we had heard that was an issue due to the no alcohol until noon rule. I had been upset about that as having mimosas at breakfast when on vacation is very important to me. But now, no worries, that issue has been resolved! Breakfast at Mirador was delicious! Michaela made my omlets every day! And also our wonderful server Juana - who always remembered that we wanted two mimosas, two waters and one coffee. The hostesses could not have been nicer - Lei lee and Alondra. We had lunch every day at the Coral Grille! Selene Tec remembered us from our last stay at the Palace two years ago! She always made sure we had everything we needed and let us know if the Chef was making something special. This was something new that we don't recall from our previous stays - the Chef grilling seafood in the restaurant. We had a wonderful mixed grilled seafood - calamari, shrimp, scallops, mussels - one day and paella another. I love paella so that was a great treat! There was also always grilled fish, chicken and meat available in the Coral Grille buffet. My husband had strip streak one day, tuna another. I love grouper, so had that one day and swordfish another day. We never got bored with buffet food. Also want to mention Roselia Gabriel Hernandez, another server at the Coral Grille who was very friendly and made sure we had what we needed. Morony, the activities person at the Palace was just great! Very personable and upbeat! Also Natali Lopez who works at the Spa and was working at the beach location a couple of days. She is just so sweet! We spent some time each day at the Adult Pool - a great place if you want to take a break from the main pool. Maria Perez remembered us from our last visit in 2018. She was a lot of fun and made great drinks! Shout out also to Luis Wuex and Dilery. Have to mention the bartenders at the Lobby Bar - Carey Bar. First off, we were so happy to see that two of the bartenders we remember from our last visit to the Palace have been promoted to Supervisors. Congrats to Omar Claudio and Jonathan on their promotions. Well deserved! We have known Omar for at least four years (two previous visits), and he is the nicest guy! We miss having him be our bartender though. Ha ha! Want to mention Ismael and Daniel from the Lobby Bar as well as Fernando, Joni and Miriam. They are all great! Had such a wonderful birthday celebration at the Palace! It is definitely a birthday I will not forget! All the servers and bartenders knew it was my birthday so I had several cakes and special drinks to help me celebrate! It was a wonderful day - and evening! I definitely felt special and celebrated! The day after my birthday, I swam with the dolphins - a great experience. The trainer, Paloma provides education on the ecosystem and the importance of conservation. I was so happy to see that Raul is is still working at the Dolphinarium. When we visited two years ago, he had just started working there. Another really nice guy! Well, for anyone who has taken the time to read this really long review, just to recap - the Barcelo Maya Palace is a great vacation destination! It's beautiful and we'll maintained with good food and drink. But what really makes it special is the staff! They are friendly and hard working, and more than happy to talk to you and share a few laughs. And, when you become a repeat visitor, they will remember you! Thanks Barcelo Palace for another wonderful vacation! We'll be back!😊🍹🏖️🍾🥂

    “Poorest management weve encurred”

I would not recommend this property because of management decisions which ruined our 50 Anniversary celebration- no concession was offered to us to compensated for this- as far as they seemed to be concerned - it did not matter

    “Family stuck in separate rooms!”

We are a family of 6. We have 4 children b/n the ages of 5 and 11. We booked 2 junior suites and had requested adjoining rooms. This request was not honored. As a result, we had to have separate rooms during our stay. Staff did nothing to accommodate or remedy the situation. This was our 3rd visit to the Maya Palace. Given the amount of money expended this was obviously a great disappointment. I would not recommend for a large family.

It is only through feedback such as yours that we are able to maintain and improve upon the service that we provide to our guests. Regarding the assignation of the rooms, we have seen in our system that your rooms were door by door but not adjoining, let us clarify that this kind of request are always subject to availability and unfortunately we had not the rooms requested available during your stay.
